About
El Prado Golf Course boasts two different 18-hole courses: Butterfield Stage and Chino Creek. Early in California's statehood, stagecoaches would make the 2,700 mile trek from St. Louis to San Francisco. The property used to be a stop on this trail, which is where the Butterfield Stage Course gets its name. It's the shorter of the two courses at 6,568 yards from the back tees. The course is flatter and more forgiving than Chino Creek, but it still has a fair amount of challenges that will test your skills. The layout has generous fairways, but watch out for the strategically placed bunkers lurking along the large, gently undulating greens. Water hazards come into play on several holes as well. The wide open nature of the course can be forgiving but at the same time it will put your round at the mercy of the prevailing winds.

Worst golf course…rocks all over the parking lot…so poorly maintained
This has to be one of the worst golf course in California. It is so badly maintained from parking lot to the greens with huge patches of dead grass and cart paths that have not been paved for decades. It is almost a joke of a course and should be turned into a putt putt. Teed off almost an hour after tee time because no carts and huge backup due to hackers shooting well over hundred and mix of beginners and kids slowed the game to snails pace. Avoid this golf course like Meadowlark and Anaheim Hills or please play this course and avoid the good knes so I can have some pace to my game. Thanks

Fun course
I've played here a few times. Love the Chino Creek course. Pace can be agonizing. We have played behind the men's club a couple times. Their groups were averaging 20-30 minutes per hole! They didn't even pick up the pace after the ranger spoke to them.
It was pretty brutal
Can’t recommend, it needs a lot of TLC and Money put into it.
My review is only of the butterfield portion,
Cart paths are not paved, a lot of crab grass, broken shingles on roofs restrooms smell out on the course. Also it’s next to a sewage place and they stir the tanks or something on fridays so when you get to hole 12 the smell is brutal.
As for the course layout it’s ok, I didn’t feel it was worth going back to, that’s just me though.

Needs TLC - good for weekday casual round
The course is fine but needs some attention.
The lies are tight and many spots on hard pan at edges of the fairway which narrows the playing area. Expect to beat up your irons and unpredictable bounces and rolls.
It’s a fun course once you get how the course is split by the adjacent busy road. Maybe a sign for passerby to proceed with caution- people do not take care.
Good, fun day. There’s a lot of distraction (avoid tight lies, power wires, shooting range nearby and foul smell from adjacent (sewer processing?), so don’t play like you’re competing- just play freely and fun.
Some TLC would make it more playable, diminish the negative natural distraction and improve players experience.

Solid Golf Round
Range is good. Fairly priced. Practice area is good. Place is taken care of as best they can. Fairways and rough were fair and trimmed. Greens could be faster. They were fair and smooth. Great place to play when you want to get around in. I play there at least 3 times amonth.

Course condition was good considering the water shortage condition in the area

The rough as always been in really terrible condition, no grass just bare and animal holes.
Now the fairways are also in terrible condition, many many bare spots.
Also the bunkers are usually hard mud.
The only thing that is in good shape are the fringes and the greens (Congratulations on that.)
