About
El Prado Golf Course boasts two different 18-hole courses: Butterfield Stage and Chino Creek. Early in California's statehood, stagecoaches would make the 2,700 mile trek from St. Louis to San Francisco. The property used to be a stop on this trail, which is where the Butterfield Stage Course gets its name. It's the shorter of the two courses at 6,568 yards from the back tees. The course is flatter and more forgiving than Chino Creek, but it still has a fair amount of challenges that will test your skills. The layout has generous fairways, but watch out for the strategically placed bunkers lurking along the large, gently undulating greens. Water hazards come into play on several holes as well. The wide open nature of the course can be forgiving but at the same time it will put your round at the mercy of the prevailing winds.

5 hours to play 16 holes
Couldn't finish our round because we were at 5 hours after 16 holes. Had a 3-some two groups ahead that were a a hole and a half behind the next group. For $42 you can afford a marshal. Enforce pace of play. Course was in fair condition. Even on a Friday $42 is a log for a course this below average.
I could have played on a couple of courses for less and be done in 4 hours, and have a better golfing experience. Never going back.
Greens
Greens are too slow and bumpy. Maybe they are under renovation. It feels like on a spongy mat. I hope they come back to normal condition very soon!

Easy course to play
Decent conditions . Very slow pace of play . The smells are as bad as everyone says. And the bunkers are rock hard. Played a good round though so I will be back.

Good Value at Butterfield
Butterfield is a good course for most amateur players.
You can recover from a bad shot if you miss the fairway. No houses come into play. Greens are in good shape.
Lots of walkers here because of the park like terrain. Not very hilly. Course is fair and fun to play......

Bad Smells
Course was in great condition and well cared for:. Be prepared for bad smells on the back 9 (understood because it’s Chino and Ontario adjacent!) I think there is some sort of reclamation plant across the road from hole 17. The bad smells from it lingered in my nostrils for at least an hour after I got home. Other than that everything was great!!
