El Prado Golf Courses - Butterfield Stage

About
El Prado Golf Course boasts two different 18-hole courses: Butterfield Stage and Chino Creek. Early in California's statehood, stagecoaches would make the 2,700 mile trek from St. Louis to San Francisco. The property used to be a stop on this trail, which is where the Butterfield Stage Course gets its name. It's the shorter of the two courses at 6,568 yards from the back tees. The course is flatter and more forgiving than Chino Creek, but it still has a fair amount of challenges that will test your skills. The layout has generous fairways, but watch out for the strategically placed bunkers lurking along the large, gently undulating greens. Water hazards come into play on several holes as well. The wide open nature of the course can be forgiving but at the same time it will put your round at the mercy of the prevailing winds.

Two courses playing on one
Chino Creek was closed (?) so Butterfield play pace was pretty
good considering...slow but understandable...took over 4 hrs to complete round...course was in good condition

Good Course
The overall conditions are ok... not that bad. Fairways are dry and the balls runs. My normal drive is a 270ish carry with 15 to 20 roll. This course was rolling 30 to 50.
A lot of dust and dirt everywhere but manageable.
I would go back and play the other side.
My round was 4.5 hours (teed off at 9:30).

Poor Green, fairways and no signage
First time here. Got lost - or had to second guess directions - A LOT. They needs signage…badly.
Ok - into the course condition: fairways are typical muni — but on the poorer side. Not bad. But not good. The greens were green. That’s good. But…they need to be rolled badly. They were high cut and bumpy. Not good for ball rolling.
Paid $39 fir a twilight deal. Felt it was too much.
