Green River Golf Club

About
The beauty of the Santa Ana Canyons surrounds Green River Golf Club in Corona. The club originally had two 18-hole courses but they have been combined to form one massive, sprawling golf course. Although it is surrounded by hills and valleys, the course itself is mostly flat, making it a good round for high handicappers. The fairways are wide and forgiving, making it even more player friendly for beginners. There are still many challenges in store on this golf course though, including a number of river and creek crossings and strategically placed bunkers. The Santa Ana winds that sweep across the course can often make reaching the greens in regulation quite tough and the abundant trees, while providing a scenic and secluded atmosphere, also add to Green River Golf Club's difficulty.

Great quality greens and fairways
Second time playing here. First time was in the early winter and the course was hard to drive on due to bumps, dirt, and a raw beat green. Today was spectacular like that fall first time never existed. Greens were fast and lush, fairways were perfect and neon green, even balls hit to the rough and edges were retrievable. The edges were still bumpy but easier to drive on with the good grass growth. I really enjoyed it here and would come back in the next few months. Lots of wildlife from exotic birds to rattlesnakes and coyotes roaming the edges and fairways. Felt like an adventurous golf round. Only complaint was due to Memorial Day traffic they were out of carts and the first cart back after a round was given immediately to the wait line if players. Minor issue as everyone got a cart and played after an extra 30 min wait from tee time schedule. Fun course.
Pace of play has gone into the sewer
I’m done trying to give this course another chance. My friends refuse to golf here anymore and now I’ve thrown in the towel and agree with them. The pace of play here sucks. There’s no marshal, the employees complained and I agree with them that there’s not enough staff on hand working. They said they only had TWO people working the course! One running the golf shop and one for the carts. They were seriously behind in keeping up. They have no starter outside and the foursomes either play two balls each (because they can get away with it) or just take an average time of “FOREVER” per hole! After I reached the 7th hole and 2.5 hrs later, I decided to just leave. For a single to be at 2.5 hrs at just the 7th hole on a weekday, you can calculate how long it would be to get to the 18th hole. Of course the TAF’s don’t wave you through as they were too busy smoking standing around and talking, and on their laser range finders 24/7, This isn’t the first time this has happened either. It’s the third time in a row! So Green River is FIRED! I’ll go to other local courses that just manages their course much much better. Lesson learned
Improving all the time - thank you
Improved bunker sand, greens and tee boxes are most welcome. Fairways and surroundings are still a bit cut up too much.
But I'll now be returning to play here after a couple of years being absent - as it was so poor a course. Fine improvements recently.
Getting better -- keep going!
Improved bunkers, paths, greens and tees are most welcome.
Still, the fairways are quite rough in places, so there's plenty of room for further improvement. But much better than in 2023 and 2024.
Course in very nice condition
This course is a fun track to play. Challenging layout but wide fairways and smooth greens.
They have recently added new sand and it is awesome. White and nicely compacted.
Greens are in great shape, fun course to play!
You could tell that the Maintenance Staff has really worked hard at making the greens some of the best in the Inland Empire. There were spots throughout the course where you could see re-seeding was going on which shows just how much they care.
Pace of play was fine and the tee boxes and fairways were better than they've been in awhile.
The Pro Shop Staff was fantastic and really took care of our group.
Looking forward to coming back soon!
Friently
Friendly and fair golf course hard to find balls if not in fairway. Course can play tough in afternoons when winds pick up. Sand traps have new sand and are a pleasure to see on this course
RAKE THE TRAPS
On the good side they have renewed the sand in all the traps. Unfortunately they do not maintain them. The traps had not been raked in forever so they were as hard as bricks. They looked great but they were unplayable they were so firm. The rest of the experience was fine, but if you have not played there before, know that wind comes up in the afternoon.
SHADY BUSINESS - WILL NOT PLAY HERE AGAIN
This was probably the second time I played here. But " I WOULD NEVER COME BACK HERE AGAIN " due to what happened yesterday 01/03/2025. I uesd their web portal to book a tee time for 3, and the price was $59/person but when we checked in and got charged $72/person. I asked the guy at the pro shop what happen he simply replied that was walking rate. Every other cources that we previously booked the rate on their portal does include cart, but at Green River Golf Club they didn't mentioned anything at all and when you showed up they will ripped you off. I would had played somewhere else if the case.
WHAT A SHADY BUSINESS THESE GUYS ARE. "GREEN RIVER GOLF CLUB in CORONA CA"
I DEFINITELY WILL TELL EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY FRIENDS NOT TO PLAY HERE
Be Aware - Don't Let Them Ripped You Off

Long Round
The course is average, has an interesting layout but a 5 1/2 round left a bad first impression on me. There are much better courses at a similar cost with much better pace.
Could be better
The grass condition needs some work. Other than that It's all good.
No food at turn and no food cart
First time here. Will play again. Overall a good layout, but odd to be a Par 73. Arguably the shortest of the Par 5’s could be modified to a Par 4 for a more traditional Par 72. Greens were all in great shape and extremely fast. Bunkers had a fresh layer of fluffy sand you simply don’t find at many courses these days. Several bare spots in the fairways likely due to the long hot summer. Some of the tee boxes were uneven and not in great shape. Guessing they will recover and be better later this winter and spring.
The snack shack after the turn was closed and they didn’t have cart service. When we finished at 3:00 the restaurant only had hot dogs in a warmer - no other food.
The range is small and the mats were muddy. Looks like they recently tried resodding and were overwatering creating a bunch of mud.
Not sure how common it is, but the winds really picked up in the afternoon.
The good far outweighs the bad and will play there again.
