Green River Golf Club
About
The beauty of the Santa Ana Canyons surrounds Green River Golf Club in Corona. The club originally had two 18-hole courses but they have been combined to form one massive, sprawling golf course. Although it is surrounded by hills and valleys, the course itself is mostly flat, making it a good round for high handicappers. The fairways are wide and forgiving, making it even more player friendly for beginners. There are still many challenges in store on this golf course though, including a number of river and creek crossings and strategically placed bunkers. The Santa Ana winds that sweep across the course can often make reaching the greens in regulation quite tough and the abundant trees, while providing a scenic and secluded atmosphere, also add to Green River Golf Club's difficulty.

Long Round
The course is average, has an interesting layout but a 5 1/2 round left a bad first impression on me. There are much better courses at a similar cost with much better pace.
Could be better
The grass condition needs some work. Other than that It's all good.
No food at turn and no food cart
First time here. Will play again. Overall a good layout, but odd to be a Par 73. Arguably the shortest of the Par 5’s could be modified to a Par 4 for a more traditional Par 72. Greens were all in great shape and extremely fast. Bunkers had a fresh layer of fluffy sand you simply don’t find at many courses these days. Several bare spots in the fairways likely due to the long hot summer. Some of the tee boxes were uneven and not in great shape. Guessing they will recover and be better later this winter and spring.
The snack shack after the turn was closed and they didn’t have cart service. When we finished at 3:00 the restaurant only had hot dogs in a warmer - no other food.
The range is small and the mats were muddy. Looks like they recently tried resodding and were overwatering creating a bunch of mud.
Not sure how common it is, but the winds really picked up in the afternoon.
The good far outweighs the bad and will play there again.
Green River
The course layout is great, and over all it is in good shape. There were a few bare dirt lies, but we had a blast and the people were great. We will be back soon!
Good deal, nice greens, fun course
Course had easy to play par 4s and 5s. Limited obstacles by course design. The pace was normal. The only negative was the fairway edges which have lots of dark colored leaves dropped from the trees and some gopher mounds that make finding a sliced ball very difficult. If you hit the fairway nicely the course is easy to setup birdie opportunities. If you hit your second or third shots from the fairway edges you might burn too much time looking for the ball even if it’s in front of your face. But overall still fun to play.
First tee time of the day. Quick round, course is in good shape. Clubhouse is being renovated.
the two combined
For those who can remember the 2 courses back in the day I never get tired of playing at Green River....the front 12 holes of the riverside side are awesome and back 6 of the orange side still reminds me of the magic. Love the 2 par fives to finish....give this course 2-3 weeks to heal from from the fall punch and grab a tee time....I will
Super Slow
There were 2 foursomes ahead of my group.
They were a girls high school team “practicing “ for an upcoming tournament. The pace they were playing was going to be a 7 hour round!
After a call to the pro-shop they were told to speed up. Then it was on pace for a six and a half hour round. My group finally jumped both foursomes at the 12th and played through 18 without catching another group. After going back to finish 12 we finished in 5.5 hours.
You get what you pay for
Ok golf course. Tricky greens. Nothing special. Range is lacking.
Affordable golf in a nice location
Good course conditions. Bunkers are fantastic and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The only complaint I have is the pace of play. Although we played a four hour road which isn't bad for a Sunday the group ahead of us fell more than 4 holes behind the group ahead of them. Did everything slow. I'd love to see them have a Marshall out there to keep people that have no clue or don't care moving along
Kidney Buster
Well if you are going to play Green River, I suggest bringing a kidney belt! The course is filled with gopher holes and tree roots.. When the cart path ends after the tee boxes BEWARE of where you are driving, BIG RUTS! On the tee boxes there weren't to many flat spots once again full of gopher holes and mounds. I will say that the bunkers had very good sand so that is not a problem at all The rough is extremely high, not sure why. You would think that a course that is mostly Sunday golfers out playing it wouldn't have U.S. Open rough! You had to step on your ball in the rough just to find it which then SLOWS the PACE of play to a snails pace. So if you want a 5 hour round of bouncing around busting your kidneys play Green River if not plenty of other course to play.
Prepping for winter
The fairways were in pretty good shape- but the greens are getting thin. The tee boxes were just terrible !!! They had not been mowed and many were like teeing up in thick rough.
They were starting to punch the roughs- so the grass has not been mowed in those areas. The sand in bunkers is fairly new and bright white. Nice to hit out of !!!
Nice course
Nice course but too bad it’s no longer a 36-hole course like it used to be. But I do enjoy the scenery here. The only problem was they didn’t have a starter. They didn’t have a beer cart and they didn’t have a bar that was open.
Unfriendly staff
The greens being rough, almost getting hit by a ball by the group behind, the slow pace of play, and the little amenities available were nowhere near as big of an issue as how poorly the staff treated my group.
