The beauty of the Santa Ana Canyons surrounds Green River Golf Club in Corona. The club originally had two 18-hole courses but they have been combined to form one massive, sprawling golf course. Although it is surrounded by hills and valleys, the course itself is mostly flat, making it a good round for high handicappers. The fairways are wide and forgiving, making it even more player friendly for beginners. There are still many challenges in store on this golf course though, including a number of river and creek crossings and strategically placed bunkers. The Santa Ana winds that sweep across the course can often make reaching the greens in regulation quite tough and the abundant trees, while providing a scenic and secluded atmosphere, also add to Green River Golf Club's difficulty.

WE should get paid to play this one.

I understand how temporary greens are, sometimes, a necessity. What I do NOT understand is: Why a course waits until you actually drive there and are ready to play before they let you know these facts. Also, they could let people know that ALL the greens are in horrific condition. Couple that with the fact that many of the bunkers are dirt (not sand) makes this a definate do not play track. This used to be a really nice course. Don't know what happened, but it's on my 'never again' list.

Course needs some TLC

The greens have patches on them that makes some of the putting inconsistent. Holes #17 & #18 were reduced to par 4 & 3 (originally par 5 & 4) due to some construction. Temporary green on #17, not a good surface for putting. Clubhouse gave us a $5 off coupon for a $10 minimum purchase in the pro shop for this inconvenience.

Needs attention

This course has gone thru alot of changes since the last time I played here. Now its combined into one course. With half the hole to maintain the greens are in very bad shape, it looks like they recently airated them and are very bumpy, but the bald spots on the green are bad. almost every green had dirt patches. I over heard a couple guys that work for the course say its going to be about 2 years for all the work to be done and the couse back into a great place to play. I look forward to that day but for now i'll play elsewhere.

Course was in Good Shape, Smaller Greens

This was my first time playing this course, it was in Good Shape. The greens were on the smaller size but still playable. They are undergoing some construction on holes 17 and 18. Hole 17 has temporary green, cut from par 5 to par 4. Hole 18 was playing from middle of fairway and as long par 3. They hope to have holes back by end of Nov.

lots of construction

Lots of construction and Greens were aerated and sand thrown down to fill the holes making putting very slow and putts hope and skip. Overall the fairways were in good condition and it only cost $16 for the round on golfnow.com so I can't complain since it was $10 cheaper than the senior citizens rate.

the course is fine

I booked the time as a single and expected to play as a single. I was joined with another single without any choice. The individual was fine. However, he was all over the course. It is more challenging looking for another's ball over and over when the ball is out of play and you have the opportunity to address your own ball. I probably will not be back. I was somewhat surprised at the " My way or the highway" approach.

In very poor condition

Course in need of maintenance. A number of Greens appeared to have a fugus. Over a year ago this course had two 18 holes courses and now changed to one. Lack of signs and markers.. I suspect the city or county just does not want to spend any money to clean up this course.
Surprisingly very few playing the course, so the speed of play was good. Got there 1/2 hour early and told we could go right to the 1st tee
Maybe because there are better golf courses in the area and this one is in bad shape. I have played this course a number of years ago and am truely disappointed

Not really a golf course!

The tees, fairways, greens are all terrible! There are no cart paths to speak of. The whole course looks like it has not had any real maintenance in many years. I could not be paid enough to ever bother to play there again. It is an insult to even advertise this field as a golf course!

Recent heat wave obviously caused them to lose some greens

Overall for the price on a Sunday and course conditions this was a good deal. But, it could of been even better because they should not charge full rate with the number of greens that were bad. The recent heat was obviously too much for the staff to handle. I would not recommended this course at this time.

Good even during heat wave.

The course itself was in good condition, but someone had cut the greens too short, and there has been a massive heat wave. There is a huge possibility that the greens could be lost. Overall, this course is fun, yet challenging. The cart girl is awesome and makes sure to make her rounds on the weekend. I hope that they smarten up and expand to 27 holes at least. They didn't loose all the holes in the wash out.

Course provides good value for the cost. Not crowded.

Some of the greens were a bit rough but overall the course was in good shape. I think they could improve the course dramatically by upgrading the cart paths around the greens, many are dirt or gravel. This invites the less etiquette minded to drive too close to the greens. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Good value for the money.

Ok value if you get it cheap ....

Played on a weekend and payed $37 w/ cart. Greens are burned out for the first six or seven holes. Fairways a good. Sand traps are fair. VERY WINDY for an hour or so on the front nine. LOUD trains rumble past a couple of holes.

Worst course I have ever played? No. Worth about $37 on a weekend. Wouldn't pay more because of condition ... better choices in Corona area. IF I lived closer, I might play here again ... I recommend only if you get a rate of $35 or less.

Greens need attention.

Many of the greens need attention, the fairways were kind of uneven and bare on some holes. The problem on the greens, besides being patchy, are caused by players who do not repair divots. The wind makes the course longer than it is, especially on the six holes on the Orange course.

Great course for public Golf.

The course has 5 par Fives, 3 on the front holes 17 & 18 are par 5's, good opportunities for birdies. The course has some nice elevated T boxes, always fun off those T's. It has. Some good green side bunkers, but not a lot of fairway bunkers or water hazards. Good public golf course.

Nice course in between the Santa Ana river bringing a cool breeze

Overall course was in fairly good condition. First 3 greens were a bit brown and bumpy. Other than that its pretty well maintained. For the price I paid ($27) it's worth the money and I will be back for that price.

What happen to this course

Well I haven't played this course in a long time it used to have two courses and now it's just one, It's kind of weird complaining about a course when you only paid $ 21 but it the greens were all beat up and the course in general was just sad.

Always a great value.

I've always felt green river has been a great value. It's not the most difficult course yet does have a variety of challenges. The fairways are solid, green grass, green trees and not too narrow. You have some elevation changes. My biggest complaint is the same every year. The first few greens are not well kept, some have dead grass areas. Yes, it's Aug and 90 degrees. I've played other times during the year and it's the same. I would also love to see GPS in the carts. Probably would help with pace especially for the inexperienced but then again, it'd cost more to play.
