Green River Golf Club
About
The beauty of the Santa Ana Canyons surrounds Green River Golf Club in Corona. The club originally had two 18-hole courses but they have been combined to form one massive, sprawling golf course. Although it is surrounded by hills and valleys, the course itself is mostly flat, making it a good round for high handicappers. The fairways are wide and forgiving, making it even more player friendly for beginners. There are still many challenges in store on this golf course though, including a number of river and creek crossings and strategically placed bunkers. The Santa Ana winds that sweep across the course can often make reaching the greens in regulation quite tough and the abundant trees, while providing a scenic and secluded atmosphere, also add to Green River Golf Club's difficulty.

If you are looking for wind . . .
Green River is a decent course, but it is almost always quite windy in its location in the Santa Ana Valley, so if you do not like playing in the wind, then give it a pass.
The front nine, from the old Riverside Course before the two courses (the Orange and Riverside) had to be combined, is the nicer of the two. It meanders away from the freeway, and you really feel that you are out in the country. The back nine has a few weaker holes and is closer to the freeway, and just is not as interesting. Pace of play has been a problem the last few times I have played, about five hours.
Overall, Green River is in decent, but not great condition. The greens were in fairly good condition and the fairways average. If you do not mind the wind, it is worth a play.
Green River Sneaks Up You!
Green River at first seems like a nice walk in a great country pasture, but soon it starts to show it's got some teeth. I love the place, it's got some nice long holes as well as some tricky par 3s. Plenty of bunkers will keep you honest and the river running through it comes into play if you get greedy and try to stretch out your drives. The greens were in superb shape and the fairways allowed for some decent roll. I have to confess I was a pit casual at first and got behind the course. It snuck up on me and I was fighting to get back to normal score. The course won this round but I'll be back, it's hard to get this track out of your mind once you go a round there.
Very nice course and a great value.
Green River is a fun course to play. A fairly flat course, with some water holes, the major hazards are trees, of which there are many. The layout is fair, and the fairways are very nicely maintained, which is surprising considering the reasonable fees charged. The greens are a little on the slow side, and they are well-kept. The fairways are not too tight, but you definitely want to stay out of the trees. I found the course enjoyable. The pace of play is pretty fast, and the staff is great. If you play twilight, you can get a fantastic deal and still finish 18 holes.
Green River layout of holes 7 thru 12 difficult and aesthetic.
We found the course unassuming yet very challanging.
When you turn towards the 13 hole the topography and wind patterns make for a good test of golf skills.
Good value through GolfNow site- usually in good shape
We were following a tournament. Pace of play was over 5 1/2 hours. Extremely slow even for Orange County weekend pace.
Fun course, watch out for slow twilight play
The revised layout is still a lot of fun here and you better bring your long game. Greens are in good shape but a little bouncy on some greens.
Twilight play gets really backed up but the Marshall does a great job of moving things along. He came by at least twice to let us know he's moving people along which is a rare site these days.
we started behind a "medical pot" tournament so play was very slow.
The course was in very good condition. The staff was very friendly and tried to be helpful regarding the slow play. We played thru 13, replayed 1,2 & 12 and called it a day. Would have been a 5+ hour day if stayed the course. The "pot" players were interesting to watch to say the least. Was surprised such a tournament would be booked on a weekend.
Challenging course, fast play, fairly priced
We got through the course in 4 hours....on a Sunday. It is well maintained and moderately challenging. Fairly priced. All in all a very good golf experience.
Price is OK, Better off Driving to Eagle Glen or Glen Ivy
Lots of Crab grass,.. Just a beat down old course. I had not played this course in about 4 years and I remembered why yesterday.
The course really needs attention.
The course overbooks tee time. They were about 4 tee times behind when we teed off. Had to wait on almost every shot. When we got to the 13th hole there was 2 foursomes wait to tee off. We decided to go back and play the first hole again. We played 4 holes and ran into a back up course again, so we just quit and went in. The course also needs a lot of attention. We had to bump the ball in the fairway on every hole. The greens were so so. At least they didn't have any goffer holes or anything, but were a little bumpy.
nice course combo
Since damage was done to the course, the course now has combined the two courses. I enjoyed the new lay out and the greens were tricky, but rolled well.
I will have to come back
Great layout. This course has potential.
I had a pretty good time at Green River. If they really focused on fixing the fairways and tee boxes, Green River would become a awesome track.
a good course, but fairways a bit dried out.
I enjoyed the course -- I shot a 78 --. Thje course combines two courses due to washout problems. My golf buddy -- a gps-- only
worked for the first 12 holes and number 18. The greens were in excellent shape. A fun, but windy course.
Good value for the money
Course is in decent shape. Greens are good. More interesting layout than most I have played for the same or even more money. Staff is generally friendly.
overall poor condition but great price at $30 on a friday
cart paths need work-some greens great but most contain foreign grasses and are bumpy-tee boxes need work and fairways in poor condition
Great location with nice views of the surrounding mountains.
Nice course with wide fairways. Had my best round in this course so far since I started playing. Great value too, booked a round for $20
Excellent course for me and my son to hone our skills
Fun course to play. The ranger seems to make a good effort to keep play going. Play usually moves at about a 5-hour pace.
this is a fun course
this is a fun course if you hit the fairways else you spend a lot of time looking for your ball
nice course for the price, but couldn't finish
Course was ok for the price, I was 1st tee time, played by myself which I prefer and it went quickly until the 13th hole, they had let the seniors group start on 13. Took me almost an hour for the 13th & 14th holes after which I called it a day.
Good price for 18 holes, not so good for 14 holes....
