Chateau Elan Golf Club - Chateau Course
About
Although Chateau Elan Golf Club & Resort is just 40 minutes from Atlanta, the panoramic views of the north Georgia foothills make it feel much further from the city. The club boasts two public championship courses and a nine-hole course as well as The Legends, a private golf club. In addition to the golf, Chateau Elan is also home to a full production winery. The Chateau Course is one of the public championship golf courses. The layout wanders across 170 acres, winding around a lake and two creeks. Water, not surprisingly, comes into play on more than half of the holes but there are also 87 bunkers strategically placed throughout to watch out for. There is thick Bermuda rough bordering the contoured fairways too. It is more open than the slightly more challenging Woodlands Course, the other public championship golf course.

Chateau Elan
Me and my daughter traveled 3 hours to play a practice round for the 2017 njcaa womens national championship to be held there we played the Chateau course. The course was beautiful fairways where in good shape the greens where in great shape the greens didn't play to fast or slow they where just right if you drive the ball well there are scoring opportunity on every hole the staff was great the guys out front where very friendly with getting your clubs on a cart we had a great time I would love to go back and play again some day
Some issues, but overall a nice course.
This was my 5th time to play this course, though my first in a few years. Things have changed. Visually the course is beautiful, but playability was all over the place. The greens ran very slow, with dead patches around the edges making it all but impossible to putt from off the green. Tee boxes and fairways were hard ground, with one tee box that my club bounced off the ground instead of making a proper divot. Add to that no restrooms anywhere on the course, and no stop at the turn without driving back to the clubhouse some 500 yards away, there were issues. Staff is very friendly, food in the restaurant is good, and a nice selection of wines for sale in the clubhouse, there are positives to the visit. Overall, I give it a good, but needs some attention.
What a Deal!
I played the course two days ago, and only played the front nine. The course is beautiful and well laid out. If you play from the tees you usually play from, you should have a great experience. The course looks difficult, nut the tees are adjusted according to your ability.
The course is in top condition including the greens. The off course amenities are fantastic. If you play a late round on a Friday or Saturday plan on attending the grand buffet at the main resort. It i the best you find anywhere in Georgia. My only regret is that the deal I found on Golf Now was only for 9 holes, don't get me wrong it was great($10 including cart) deal. However, next time I want to do the whole 18 holes.
Great greens
Pace of play was poor with no Course ranger in sight. Took an hour to play the first three holes. Eventually took matters into our own hands and basically demanded to be let through a couple of groups who had no etiquette at all.
The greens are phenomenal, firm fast and true.
The layout is so so with some pretty bland holes, some very nice holes and a ridiculous hole in the 17th. The 17th has a split fairway, and if you hit the left one you can't hit the green because of trees in your way. If you can manage to hit it on the right fairway then you have a view of the green, but from the back to you have to hit a huge cut round trees to get on it.
This course had the potential to be very good but needed that extra bit of care and attention.
Good Value
The Chateau course beautifully meanders though the rolling hills and trees. The large mansions lining the course gently frame the holes without encroaching.
There was plenty of challenging water and sand from the 6500 yard tees. I would have given the course 5 stars but the tricky greens were recently top-dressed which made putting difficult. I am sure the greens will be ideal in a couple of weeks.
Good conditions and moved along
Enjoyed a good day on the course. Conditions good and the greens rolled well. We will be back.
Good to get back
I had not played the course in a few years and was pleasantly surprised to see it hadn't changed. Great course with many different style holes. A "must play" course in the Atlanta area.
Worth the Drive from Atlanta!
If you are looking for a private course experience, visit Chateau Elan. The staff was extremely accommodating from beginning to end. We were fortunate enough to play the new greens on the Chateau course and they were such a treat! Make the short drive from Atlanta for a truly memorable experience.
Sunday Golf with friends!!
We have a great round of golf on a Sunday morning!! Our refreshment cart driver Judith was a lot of fun! The corse is great even with all the upgrades going on!! The staff in the clubhouse was very friendly!! We will definitely be back! Looking forward to making it a Sunday morning tradition!!
Course in great shape for March
No complaints. Greens were in great shape. Rolled true and fast; slowed a bit as sun dried them out. Fairways were as good as could be expected for March. A few tee boxes were pretty worn, but nothing beyond what is to be expected for early spring/late winter golf. Played 9 holes for $15 ($20 after fees). Pretty forgiving course overall.
This course has great features.
The course was good condition and my son love it look forward to play agiant.
Deal
Overall, the course was in great shape. The greens were pretty slow though.
No Restrooms on course
No restrooms on course.
Course is In winter conditions,
Thank you for playing golf with us today! I'm sorry your experience was less than satisfactory. I apologize that there were no restrooms currently on the course. We recently removed the old restrooms and are building new ones entirely. We hope you will try playing with us again in the future.
Challenging Course
The Chateau course is a fun but challenging course to play. I think it's more difficult than the Woodlands course. The course is tight with plenty of water. I thought the course was in good shape for January and the greens ran well. I look forward to paying it again during the spring/summer season.
Always a great place to play
I have enjoyed playing both courses here, while this course is more open and not as many elevation changes as the Woodlands has. The greens are always in great shape and roll so smoothly. Both courses here are a great test for any level of golfers. I have played both courses many times and always look forward to playing them again and again. The people in the pro shop are very friendly and helpful, and if you have time to eat I would say try the buffalo chicken wrap just a personal favorite of mine. Com'on out and play one of two awesome golf courses you can thank me later
Resort Quality at Wonderful Prices
Chateau Elan is one of the premier golf destinations in the Southeast. Their set-up is easy to understand that the guests of the winery and spa may enjoy golfing, too. At 40 miles North of downtown Atlanta, it is a bit of a drive from inside the Perimeter but since most of Atlanta's golfers live in Gwinette, Cobb, and Hall counties, they have a short hop on GA20, I85 or I985 to get there. While both the Woodlands and Chateau courses are fair challenges, the Chateau course seems more scenic to me. It is in fabulous shape.
Fun and friendly
Some joker drove their cart infront of the green on #6 Par 3 and they still have not fixed it.
Shoddy greensmen.
Play this course
This is the more chalanging of the two courses I think. The new greens are nice and fast and hold the ball on your approach shots. The course is a little tricky there are a few blind spots here and there. Having course knowledge is nice you don't always have to hit your driver and sometimes you have to carry 250 to make it from the green tees. Played about 6400 from the second back to using 59 from the whites this course will give her game at challenges water on numerous holes so pack an extra set of balls and stay to the left on the fairways enjoy your day
