Chateau Elan Golf Club - Chateau Course
About
Although Chateau Elan Golf Club & Resort is just 40 minutes from Atlanta, the panoramic views of the north Georgia foothills make it feel much further from the city. The club boasts two public championship courses and a nine-hole course as well as The Legends, a private golf club. In addition to the golf, Chateau Elan is also home to a full production winery. The Chateau Course is one of the public championship golf courses. The layout wanders across 170 acres, winding around a lake and two creeks. Water, not surprisingly, comes into play on more than half of the holes but there are also 87 bunkers strategically placed throughout to watch out for. There is thick Bermuda rough bordering the contoured fairways too. It is more open than the slightly more challenging Woodlands Course, the other public championship golf course.

This was the #13 green if i'm not mistaken. Can see how nice the sand bunkers were and how nice the green was. Photo submitted by bryan6804634 on 09/16/2016
sometimes a good thing may not be that good
I had a DealCaddy price which I thought would be good. However they were offering $42. as a walk up play place. my son and I started around 2:15. The putting green was definitely in below average condition. There was water on the course but no cart person. We had planned to get something to eat but the bar/restaurant closed at 4:00. Beautiful surroundings but nothing much in the way of course condition. Very disappointing and I will probably think twice before getting another DealCaddy "deal.
Quiet time
Very Quiet, flow like a water.
Even Duck is walking around, there is no bothering.
challenging course but conditions of the greens is an issue
Chateau Elan is a good golf course with friendly staff but it's greens have been ravaged by heat and aeration and this hurts it's overall playability. It has some challenging holes and at $40 a round is a fair price. It needs to repair it's greens before it can offer a higher price. But if you are looking for a good challenging golf course to work on your iron play, Chateau Elan can offer you this experience.
It's a shame.
It is a shame to see a course with such great potential in this shape. The greens are cooked. Lots of bare spots on teeing areas. Generally sloppy mowing. Common areas of the course are unkept.
Greens in bad shape
Greens were in bad shape. Looks like they killed off poanna and left large patches of rolled bare ground. They pushed 3 groups off in front of us at the turn and slowed the pace down to where we waited on every shot. No one was monitoring the pace of play. I liked the course layout and the interactions with staff were great.
Green Mgt
Some hole's green was spoiled by hot & sunny day. It shoud be repaired. Other than that, everythis was good to play.
Chateau Course layout and conditions iffy
I personally am not a fan of the layouts on a few of the holes...creeks running in middle of landing areas were of note . Conditions of the course were fine other than bent greens, which had been damaged by summer heat. Being from over an hour away, the friendly staff and moderate prices will not be enough for me to come back.
Summer heat sizzling greens.
The C.E. Chateau Course was one of my favorites a few years ago. Went there to preview as a venue for upcoming event with buddies. The greens are being badly impacted by the heat. Bare spots all around. I understand. But the greens are spongy and the ball marks are bad and untended. Short rough is unreasonably long and you can lose a ball in the grass a foot off the fairway. The track s great but the course needs some management. Sorry.
Great course, poor greens
The fairways were in excellent condition, but the greens left a lot to be desired. I realize a resort course gets quite a bit of play, but the brown spots on the green were ugly and made the greens slow. I am sure the greens are not this bad all the time, but the heat of Atlanta had taken a toll on the greens.
Deal of a lifetime
We traveled a hour and a half to the course to play an we were not disappointed. Great course great place great people and a very very very good price.
Chateau Course
Challenging course.
It was well set up but the only issues were the greens not being to the degree I would expect for this premiere course.
Some holes were very picturesque.
Water available at almost every other hole which was needed on such a hot day of 95 degrees.
The beverages sold by cart associate were over-priced at $3.50 for a basic, non-premium, beer.
I would play this course again for the right price like I received on this day.
Golfing in natural beauty.
This course is naturally beautiful and the personnel are friendly and professional. While the course is somewhat challenging for the beginning golfer, it features wide fairways and immaculate fairways and greens. Clubhouse facilities are excellent and the Pro Shop showcases an inventory of high quality merchandise. Dining facilities in the clubhouse are not outstanding, but adequate.
I would definitely recommend this course to any golfer.
Great staff
Played on Saturday, course conditions were good. Some tee boxes need work. Greens were a little slow, but rolled true. My buddies shoe actually fell apart on the front nine. We went to the clubhouse on the turn. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. They went the extra mile. Will be back!
Exceptional experience. The course is in good shape.
The overall experience was exceptional. The Staff is Among the best we have experienced for a public facility. The Bag Drop, the Front Desk and even the staff on the course were very award of us and showed respect for their movement and the operation of equipment.
The greens were firm / smooth with a moderate pace. The fairways and sand traps are in good shape.
Some of buildings on the course are starting to show their age; however they do not take away form the course and the experience.
The Chateau Experience
Had a marvelous time at a great course. Looking forward to playing again.
Had to cancel :(
We weren't able to play, my husband cracked his ribs. We will go back. When I called the course to cancel, the lady in the golf shop was very polite and professional.
Disappointing Greens
Played here a few years ago, and was looking forward to playing again. Course was a bit wet due to recent rains, but fairways were in decent shape. What was disappointing were the greens and collars. The greens were completely covered by Poa Annua. For a resort course to let the greens deteriorate this much since I last played, indicates that not much is going into keeping the course conditions up to par. Play was slow, and painfully slow on the last few holes. The foursome in front of us took almost 45 minutes to play the last two holes.
Chateau Course
The Chateau course was great to play. The fairways were wide not too narrow and still provided a good challenge.
