About
Chateau Elan boasts three public courses, two championship courses and a nine-hole course, as well as a private golf club, The Legends. The Woodlands Course is one of the public courses. It is considered the most scenic of the three championship layouts with stunning views of the north Georgia foothills and a landscape of sparkling lakes and towering trees. Of the two public championship golf courses, the Woodlands is considered to be slightly more challenging thanks to several tree-lined holes that require a fair amount of accuracy. The rolling terrain provides plenty of elevation changes, so be prepared for some tricky blind shots. The lakes and ponds dotting the course come into play on several holes as well. Although it enjoys a beautiful mountain setting, Chateau Elan is conveniently only 40 minutes from Atlanta.

Greens need some help
Overall the course was in very good condition. The staff was very friendly. The pace of play was good. Our twosome fiinished in about 3.5 hours. The cart ladies were nice and efficient. The bad...the Greens. They rolled ok but had what looked like a fungus and had several spots on them. Folks, please repair your ball marks. We fixed a half dozen on every green. I'll be back.

Ball marks on ball marks
Greens are dotted up. Good luck trying to putt on a clean line free of marks.
Some really poorly designed holes. Lots of shorter par 4s with few options on how to play the hole. Effectively it’s 4+ hours of target golf
People are nice. Club house was nice.

Expected better
For the price of the round, I expected, if not a world-class experience, then at least a more memorable one. The facilities were fabulous and the staff were very friendly and accommodating; however, course conditions left a good bit to be desired, particularly greens maintenance. Multiple ball marks that had obviously not been addressed for some time left the greens feeling like a municipal course. I would play again, but if the greens were in the same condition I would not visit a third time.

Fun, Challenging Course in Excellent Condition
Prior to beginning your round, the practice area is top notch with an excellent short game practice area.
The course was in great condition. The only negative is that the greens are bent grass and in order to keep the bent brass lush and nice in the hot summer the greens have to be kept moist which makes for a softer green surfice which really leaves a ball mark on the greens. The greens had quite a few non-repaired ball marks, especially the greens with false fronts. Many of the non-repaired ball marks were large, fresh and obvious. I don’t understand why golfers do not repair their ball marks on the greens.
The course is a fu,n, plays long and is a challenging layout. There are lots of hills and elevation changes.
The course conditions were outstanding. The pace of play was excellent today and the greens (other than the numerous ball marks) were in very good condition with lots of slopes and undulations. I will definitely be back and I highly recommend Chateau Elan.

Course was in immaculate condition. The only issue was there wasn’t a course layout to study. Will definitely be back!
