Chateau Elan Golf Club - Woodlands Course
About
Chateau Elan boasts three public courses, two championship courses and a nine-hole course, as well as a private golf club, The Legends. The Woodlands Course is one of the public courses. It is considered the most scenic of the three championship layouts with stunning views of the north Georgia foothills and a landscape of sparkling lakes and towering trees. Of the two public championship golf courses, the Woodlands is considered to be slightly more challenging thanks to several tree-lined holes that require a fair amount of accuracy. The rolling terrain provides plenty of elevation changes, so be prepared for some tricky blind shots. The lakes and ponds dotting the course come into play on several holes as well. Although it enjoys a beautiful mountain setting, Chateau Elan is conveniently only 40 minutes from Atlanta.

Greens are a disaster
I have played both courses and enjoy the layout.. Staff and pace of play... But this time 8/10/15 the greens were unplayable... They have some rot or fungus... Can not recommended until the greens are fixed.. Maybe cool weather will bring a change
M.
Ps this was a supper deal for 23$ other wise would have quit after 3rd hole and asked for refund
This course has excellent potential
This course at this time has greens in severe disarray. They are burned out, bumpy and difficult to putt on. The tee boxes need repairs and upgrading. The pace of play on this Saturday was slow and could have been addressed by the ambassadors. The weather was rather hot and there was only one beverage cart working the 18-hole course. Water coolers with cold water and cups were available every 3-4 holes. The fairways
were in decent shape.
Fun course, poor greens, slow play
Played today, Aug. 8, 2015. I really like the course and will likely play again. However, the greens are in poor shape with bare spots and black mold. The pace of play was super slow. Our foursome waited every shot and finished in 5hrs.
Horrible greens
For a resort to have a course with burnt out greens and divot marks everywhere is ridiculous. If I was staying there for a getaway, I would be extremely disappointed at the conditions of both courses (1 was closed). I would not recommend going there for 2-3 night stay. The only good thing is the pace of play was great, probably because we were one of the first tee times og the day.
woodlands
Greens very slow and the Bent grass in distress. the rest of the course in good conditions.
Slow play
Nothing ruins a great experience like slow play. Excuses are many but move people along or pull them off, for faster players to play through. 5 1/2 hour round with 8:00 a.m. Tee time is unacceptable.
I'll return on a weekday, the staff is great the course has character.
Mixed Feelings on the condition of this course
I have to start my review by stating. "I was not happy with the condition of the greens". The rest of the course was in great condition. They have upgraded the bunkers and the sand in them good job. The fairways and the rough are very healthy. The greens seem to be on the brink of burning out. a lot of brown patches. The balls marks I blame on the inconsiderate golfers. More courses in Georgia need to return to mini verde Bermuda the summers are very harsh to bent grass greens. Great layout but I would wait until it cools down before I return
Chateau Elan Woodlands
The course was in good shape and the greens were in better than good shape, Course was challenging , but could be gotten with your "A" game!!! Would definitely come back!
Course Conditions
The Woodlands course offers it's challenges but the layout is very nice. I had a great golfing experience. The course conditions would have been perfect if the guests would take care of the greens by not dragging their feet and repairing ball marks. There were some kids playing in front of us that obviously missed a few classes on etiquette.
Nice layout, but also very tight
We had an enjoyable round of golf at Chateau Elan Woodlands course. This course proved very challenging for my high handicap game. Some areas were quite tight, and there were also a good number of blind shots. The course was in pretty good shape, but someone needs to teach people how to reapir their balll marks. I was surprised by the number that had been left with obviously no attempt to fix. Can't blame that on the course. The staff was excellent. Will probably play this course again.
Look Else Where
I would suggest that you look at playing at another course.. I booked this via golfnow and was called later in the day say the course is overbooked a that my booking was cancelled. How can you trust a course that would cancel you reservation?
Woodlands
Excellent!!! What a course!! Played in a foursome and finished in 4 and 1/2 hours. Only problem is that is was almost 100 degrees!! Greens were in great shape. You can actually stick a ball in june!! Absolutely amazing experience!!!
Imroving each month
The course has improved. New sand traps, better mowing practices are some of the most obvious
Evidence of additional improvements are underway in several areas as you play.
The last 18 months of efforts are beginning to show results.
Thank you
Great staff. Awesome course
I wanted Instagram nearly every hole!! The views are great and the condition of the course was simply perfect. I have a new favorite place to play!!
best course I experienced in near Atlanta.
I was the first player at 7:00 am in the woodland course, so there was too much morning dew on the green. But even though there were drop of dew, i was not disappoint the course conditions. Because it was the various challenging hole. Every hole you make a different strategy. Absolutely I want to play this course not chateau course.
Excellent Condition
Udes to play here quite often, will have to resume!, it has improved.
review
in good shape challenging to play, John at the counter is great and so are the other ladies , great place
Cool Day
The greens were in excellent shape, but the course needed some work. We played the Woodlands and the fair and tee boxes needed some work, especially the fairways. Still very wet in lot of spot, not much green, making hard to locate the ball, and need a cut. Played in the afternoon, so food selection was slim to none.
One of my favorites
Definitely worth checking it out, little challenging
Only play if it's discounted
I don't know if they're running into financial troubles but upkeep, especially on the greens is poor. A good track but only play there if you get a really good deal. Not worth the regular green fees.
