Chateau Elan Golf Club - Woodlands Course
About
Chateau Elan boasts three public courses, two championship courses and a nine-hole course, as well as a private golf club, The Legends. The Woodlands Course is one of the public courses. It is considered the most scenic of the three championship layouts with stunning views of the north Georgia foothills and a landscape of sparkling lakes and towering trees. Of the two public championship golf courses, the Woodlands is considered to be slightly more challenging thanks to several tree-lined holes that require a fair amount of accuracy. The rolling terrain provides plenty of elevation changes, so be prepared for some tricky blind shots. The lakes and ponds dotting the course come into play on several holes as well. Although it enjoys a beautiful mountain setting, Chateau Elan is conveniently only 40 minutes from Atlanta.

Customer service matters!
Everyone here was super helpful and polite. I'm looking forward to my next round at chateau Elan.
The greens are incredible. Changes in elevation dictate excellent ball speed without the surface itself being too slick.
There's water everywhere but it wI'll only challenge the most inept players. If you have a decent, predictable shot then swing away!
Hit em straight!

Good layout
Course has a good layout. Definitely more challenging than sister-course (chateau). Most of the greens are in excellent shape - 2 or 3 need minor work. Tee boxes and fairways in good shape. 90% of the bunkers are in very bad shape. As long as you don't get into the bunkers it's worth playing.
awesome
Beautiful place to play. There are no holes that are next to other holes. Some bunkers were still under construction but still great. Gorgeous scenic views with great houses. Most of the holes make you feel like your out in the woods on a hike. Cant wait to play there again.
Play it!
Tees, Fairways, Greens in great shape...a few bunkers held water in spots that had dried to a wet clay/sand mixture...a bit of maintenance or construction on #8 GS bunker....course was in fine shape overall...greens rolled a nice speed...don't be heavy handed here.
It's been a few years since I played here. On the layout...short, tight, and tree lined, coupled with undulating greens make this a tough 18. I'm playing to an 8.8 index currently on tracks sloped 125 to 130, shooting 77 to 80 the last month...barely broke 90 (87) here.
Conservative is the rule of thumb here...example #1 starts you out with a fairly easy tee ball on a par 5, but nearly all of the shortish par 4 holes have blind doglegs at or near the 150 marker...because you can't see the landing areas that often...the safe play is to leave the driver in the bag and play to the 150 marker. Trying to get to a shorter approach is dicey.
Hot deal made it a 5 star value, will be back...a little wiser next time.
woodlands review
The course was in poor condition. All of the bunks have been let go as they are redoing them over the next year. Workers on the course were an obstacle. Many of the greens had dirt patches.
Woodlands
Solid first time experience at Chateau Woodlands course. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were mostly well maintained. Nice layout with a variety of hole styles, sand, woods and water. A few holes were actively under construction though, and that can be tough to play through.
Overall a great track. I'd play it again. Especially once the construction is done....
above average
the course was in fairly good shape but many greens had blemishes and bald spots being treated
Chateau
Course was in good shape fairways were cut and not many out on the course. The greens were a little ruff on some holes but probably from all the play. Other than that great course. Oh I did play the Chateau course rather than the Woodlands because of aeration to the greens.
Looking Forward to Teeing up Again
We have played this course for years and found it to be an exceptional value, well conditioned and courteous staff. The course drains nicely after it rains and the greens are in good shape. The bunkers have been steadily improving but a few should be designated as 'ground under repair'.
Can't believe how much this course has gone down hill
This course once was a very nice course. I was ashamed to have invited a friend out as the Bunkers were absolutely horrible and there were limbs down all over the place and the fairways not in the best of shape. Really disappointed and to be frank would not have been worth $20.00 per round nor will I go back. Very disappointed. I played the Woodlands.
Good Play for the Money
Overall I enjoyed my round. The pace of play was great, I played mid day on a Friday. The course was in good condition. The fairways were great, the greens were a little slow and spotty but, very playable. My only complaint would be the sand traps. They are full of rocks and are unplayable. I will be back to play this course again.
Fun Layout
The Woodlands course is a very good layout and one where you can use every club in the bag. There are a few tight driving holes and lots of up and downhill lies. The greens are good but with many ball marks and the sand traps were in awful condition because of the recent rains. Tee boxes and fairways are excellent. A little pricy at rack rate but a first rate facility overall.
Waste of Money
They have let this course go way down hill. Most all bunkers had rocks larger than golf balls in them. The bunkers and traps are never prepared before play and the grass in growing over into the bunkers. Fairways and Greens were in fair condition, but everything else was very poor.
Chateau Élan. Woodlands
Awesome course. Staff is super. Extremely friendly
First Time playing a Chateau Course
Course was in great condition. Weather was questionable so there were not many golfers out. Had a great time, would recommend this course and would play again.
Good course if you like a challenge
Excellent test of your game! Great facility. Excellent pro shop. Would make a great weekend trip with your significant other as there is a very nice spa and hotel here.
Good course for the intermediate golfer
Course layout was challenging, but fair. Fairways were in nice shape. Greens rolled good, but had brown spots on them, not sure why, but had little affect on putting. Bunkers were in horrible condition and the Staff was friendly.
Bad bunkers
Fairways and rough were in good shape. The bunkers were just horrible! Rocks in some fluffy sand in others, dead pan in others. It was extremely difficult to judge how the ball was going to shoot out of the sand. Greens were in decent shape. Wish golfers would fix ball marks on the greens.
Great course and a friendly staff
Book with confidence. Great course with beautiful greens. Very friendly staff.
