About
Nestled amongst the gently rolling hills of Rockdale County, Cherokee Run Golf Club lies within the Georgia International Horse Park. Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay designed the course. Occupied for centuries by the Cherokee Indians, dozens of arrowheads were found in the Georgian red clay as the golf course was being built. The beautiful landscape is covered in granite outcroppings, native wetlands, and dense hardwood forests. The towering trees line the fairways and the steep inclines throughout the course provide fast, undulating greens. Water hazards come into play on six holes at Cherokee Run Golf Club and there are nearly 100 strategically placed bunkers. The course's signature hole is the par-3 third. This challenging hole demands an accurate tee shot in order to safely make it past the sand bunkers that border both sides of the fairway.

Perfect golf
We played on Labor Day at 10AM - knew it would be crowded, so already set my mind on a slow round.
Having said that, this course is simply fantastic - an Arnie Signature course. If you’re willing to make the short drive from Atlanta you will not be disappointed. From carts to course to clubhouse it’s all good here. Fairways were like carpets and the greens were in excellent condition for the end of summer. Carts have GPS and nicest seats around - even have ball washers and coolers attached.
Take some time - and play this course.

Nice place to play
Suitable warmup area with a place to practice chipping and bunkers; plays more like a mountain course. Very hilly but put together nicely. Fairways and greens were in good shape. Like most Georgia courses, don’t hit it in the rough, your ball is gone. Enjoyed the gps on the carts as well

Beautiful and Challenging
Been playing about a year now and this is the worst I have ever played. The course is beautiful but it is hard. It was originally designed by Arnold Palmer and man was he unkind. Elevation changes through the rolling hills of the course, the greens for lack of a better word, run. They are hard to read and I left no putt short; they just flew past. Definitely recommend, but definitely for moderate to advanced players and definitely expect your first round to be rough.

Amazing
Greens are as slick as a mole. Beautiful layout. Bring extra balls because this is a real course and it's hard!!

Best course in the area
Clubhouse is nice and service is good. Beverage carts and full kitchen in clubhouse. Practice range has short game area with a bunker. Course conditions are good but patchy fairways in some areas and rocks in bunkers. Design is very challenging with lots of trees and forced carries. Pace of play was good until 14th hole when we caught up to 8 people playing together with no marshall to stop them.

Challenging But Worth It
As a gift, I played the more forward Augusta tees.Glad I did. Several holes require both precision and length off the tee. There were a few holes that gave some relief and were shorter, but still required an accurate long iron to take advantage of the shortened hole. The course was in great shape.

Greens are stupid strange
Hit 6/9 GIR on front nine and shot a 47. About the weirdest greens I’ve ever seen. The guys I played with were local and said that it gets better if you’ve played the course. I shot a 39 on the back when putting got better

Great track and value
Was very pleased at the layout of this course with much elevation coming into play. Some very reachable par 5’s set you up to score well.
To no fault of the course, the conditions were very dry leading to very large bounces and difficulty holding on greens. To be expected during a dry stretch of the Summer. Greens were firm but in great condition, better grass than most public’s you’ll find in the ATL radius.

Fun Course
I enjoyed my round. Course conditions were good, and the layout is fun to play. Pace was slow on the front due to 2 groups of 3 in front of my twosome. They let us play through on the back, and the pace was great. I will definitely play Cherokee Run again soon!

Beautiful Course Challenging Greens
These are some of the most challenging undulating greens in GA. Greens are in amazing shape and roll beautifully. Fairways are lush, and layout is fun. Everything about this course is wonderful.
The only knock are the tee boxes which need work, and some fairway areas (like the flat area about 120 yards from the green on Hole 3) need to be marked as under repair.
