Good condition, good price very challenging
Good course for walking. Ball retrieval system is nice for COVID-19. Challenging holes and very fun. Prices are fair through GolfNow. Hit it straight and you’ll be fine
Thank you for leaving a review. We would like to figure out why you left two stars off of your review. Please email me at adow@cottonwoodgolf.com. Thank you!
Not in bad condition
Looks like Cottonwood is starting to take care of Ivanhoe the course is in pretty good condition, the bunker could use a little more sand But not bad
Thank you for the 4-star review. Hopefully upon your next visit, we may earn that last star!
Solid round!
Enjoyed yet another round at Cottonwood! Course is well kept, rough is running thick but maintained.
Thank you for 5-star review! Hopefully you're hitting it in the fairway instead of the rough on your next visit. Thank you again for coming out to play our course!
Great times again at CW
Enjoyed the course, which is in great shape. Monster Par 5s. Smooth greens. Starter was super helpful, touchless cups also legit. Will be back again and again.
Thank you for the 4-star review! When will we see you out here next?
Thank you for the 4-star review!
Thank you for the 4-star review. Hope to see you out here again soon!
Poor Ol' Cottonwood...
Why does she get such a bad rap? I literally find myself defending this course when I mention it to local golf snobs lol. This is a fun course in good/great condition, for $45 on a Saturday morning. I played Morgan Run today and would've rather been the at The Wood.
Thank you for being a loyal customer! We appreciate the customers in our corner. It makes turning on the lights in the morning that much more fun!
You get what you pay for
Poorly maintained amenities now are matched by the course. Greens are very poorly maintained and fairway is dried out. But for 20 bucks okay.
Thank you for leaving a review. We think our course is in great condition and that is verified by the 5-star reviews we have received in the past few days. Hopefully you can make it back out here for a better experience!
L-eafy Day
Besides the leafy areas there isn't much to complain about here. Always fun to come out here and link up18. The golf course looks green and lush.
Be ready to LEAF lots of golf balls behind under fallen leafs after your round. Avoid these areas at all cost...LOL!
Thank you for leaving a review! We will sending this to our grounds staff to see how we can improve on this.
First Timer
Booked online and the notation was that the cart fee was included but we were charged for the cart when we paid at the pro shop. Everything else was great and thought the course was fun and challenging in really good shape for these hot summer months!
Thank you for leaving a 5-star review! All green fees booked on golfnow are walking. Cart can be paid for and rented at check in. Hope to see you back out here again soon!
Thank you for the 4-star review! Hope to see you out here again soon!
The course is obviously receiving lots of TLC.
It's very apparent that much work and effort is being put in to put the course in good condition.
Thank you for the review! We are working tirelessly on the course to make sure we are always delivering the best conditions to you!
Excellent
Compared to the other golf courses nearby this has been great maintained due to seasonal conditions and for the price it’s a very good course to play
Thank you for the review. We hope upon your next visit, we may earn that last star! We are always looking to provide 5-star experiences.
Good shape
Course in good shape, a lot of golfers out on the course so pace slowed up after 5 holes. Great value for playing, $33 with cart is a lot better than most courses currently.
Thank you for a 4-star review! How times a year do you play Cottonwood?
Super twilight
Course was in great shape and played well. Greens were rolling well with lots of break on the back nine. Pace was sooooo slow. Not sure when was last time I played a 5 hour round.
Thank you for the kind review! We will work on pace of play to get your round back to regular pace. Thank you for playing Cottonwood!
Enjoyable Course, BRUTAL Pace
I played this course for the first time on a Tuesday afternoon (1:15p). 5 and half hours later the round finally ended. I was a single golfer with a cart and the group of 4 in front of me would not let me play through even as they hit multiple shots until they liked it. The pace was unbearable.
The course itself was really fun. Fairly open for mishits. Greens in very good condition. We’ll places trees to make approach shots challenging. The staff was super friendly. I’ll give this course another shot because I enjoyed the track, but if the pace is similar, it won’t be worth it.
Thank you for your review! We will work with our staff to try and push pace of play a little faster for a 5-star experience!
My First Pick Place To Play
Cottonwood is my go-to place to play in San Diego. Of course, San Diego has no shortage of incredible places to play...but when you factor in the condition of the course, the price, the location...there are only a few to choose from.
Cottonwood used to be a pretty rough place to play in relation to it's condition. But credit to it's management and groundkeepers, the course is in great shape, especially considering the price. When you can play a round of golf around $30 or so, and have an experience like this, it's well worth every penny.
The course is a fun layout with some challenging trees almost always in play to keep you on your toes. If you like to walk...this course is ideal for walking. (I just about never walk...but the couple times I have...it was about as easy as it gets...I'm just a big baby). The greens serve you tough pin placements challenging for any skilled player.
I'm not a diva when it comes to golf. I can care less that the golf carts don't have GPS. I use an app for all my yardage so it's not necessary anyways. Just give me a cart that won't die on me part way through the round, which I've had happen to me at the far more expensive courses. The driving range isn't fantastic...but if you're just looking to crack the back before you play. It serves it's purpose just fine. There's a chipping green and a couple different putting greens. Even a bunker you could practice struggling to get out of. But if you're looking to dial in your distances with the clubs, just drive 5 minutes further down the road and go to Singing Hill's golf range.
I typically shoot in the mid to low 80's and I love this course. When I'm on my game I can break 80 and get into the 70's. This course is perfect for my level of skill. I've played here with a PGA instructor friend of mine who also loves the challenges of the course. Also, played with friends who are terrible and it's their favorite place as well.
Cottonwood simply provides a great golf experience for anybody looking to have a fun round of 18 in a beautiful environment where the weather is always fantastic and it doesn't cost you an arm and a leg. Steele Canyon is right next door. No doubt it's a step up from Cottonwood, but you're gonna easily pay twice the price. Is it worth it? If you got the money...go for it. I've played it several times and it's a great course...but I'd rather play 2 or even 3 rounds at Cottonwood and spend the same amount for all those rounds than 1 round at Steele.
Conclusion...Cottonwood is currently my favorite place to go play in San Diego. I love this course and will continue to go back again and again. I think you'll enjoy it too!
