Cottonwood Golf Club - Ivanhoe Course

Not in bad shape. The greens are astounding. Lots of gopher activity but fortunately doesn’t interfere with play. I plan on playing here again. Great value.

The only issue we had this morning was the 40 minute delay! The starter was no help either! He didn’t talk or explain the issue!

Supposedly they had a scramble tournament that caused an over 30 min delay. Then the pace of play was very slow. Five hour round. Original tee time was 1007.

Not always perfectly maintained, but I love the pace of play here and the uniqueness of its holes. For instance, there's a short Par 4 with a tree in the way about 120 yards from the tee. Pull an iron and ensure you get over the tree, or try to thread the needle with the driver for the risk-reward factor!

It's a fun track that isn't too tight or punishing, usually fairly priced at the lower end of the market.

Cottonwood is not the gem it was years ago. It's really run down with bad bunkers, green that wouldn't be bad if someone fixed a ball mark and spotty fairways. If the price is low, play it. It's was crowded today but we got around fairly quickly even with a 10:00 am start. It's no frills. There is no staff due to financial issues but that's not their fault. Someday it will be a gravel pit, but for now, with low expectations you can have an affordable round of basic golf.

Very tough for everyone without a doubt. Very strong winds in the afternoon, typical fall day. Leafs everywhere from tee box all the way to the green. Putting was awful, it was so bad you had a tough time finding your ball on the green. Lots of leaf raking for the next day or two no doubt. Enjoy!

Fairways are in good condition as well as the greens. Fun golf course. Golf carts can be upgraded with better ones, all plastic parts are braking and coming apart.

Fairways are decent enough for a good round. Fairways could be left alone to grow a little taller. Some areas were trimmed a little too much. The greens could play much better if a little TLC were given, quite a few unrepaired divots so lots of leaping and bouncing balls on them. Besides that, enjoyed a good round as always.

I continue to hear about how great this place once was. It is dry in a lot of areas. There’s exposed irrigation pipes. Some dry grass or sand patches. The range is in need of love, do not

Use the mats or you will Hurt yourself. The practice green and chipping greens are great. The course greens are exceptional. The starter was a nice guy and very accommodating.

I think what wowed me here was just play and layout. It was a very fun course. Rewards for a good shot and not that tough that a bad shot would hurt you.

The staff was nice. Pace of play was fine. Cart lady makes a good bloody. This course is a hidden gem in my mind

They could really use marshals to monitor the pace of play. At one point there were three groups backed up on a par 5 because of one extremely slow group. Carts and facilities are awful. It’s clear there is no regard for customer service. It’s too bad because this is one of the few classic layouts in San Diego. If the layout wasn’t so good it would hardly be worth playing here.

The course itself is a nice setup, but all in all it is very poorly managed. The range is joke. That is if there are balls for you to utilize the range. There is no one monitoring the starting times, nor the pace of play. We passed 4 carts in our round that the battery had died and were left in the middle of the hole. I personally will never play here again.

I really enjoyed this golf course. I like the fact that the owner is putting money back into the golf course as far as maintenance. I don't care about amenities. I just want to show up and play golf and this golf course is perfect for that. I have played Bonita golf course and both of the Sycuan golf courses and I can say that I like Cottonwood golf course better. Bonita GC costs about $46.00 with cart and Sycuan about $100.00 with cart. Cottonwood costs $33.00 with cart. I hope that Cottonwood GC has found a sweet spot for revenue and sticks around for the long haul.

did not have the best day overall. But to highlight the last Par 5 (17th) hole, got an eagle 3 from 238yards out. Makes me want to play even more.

Once a beautiful east county land mark . The ownership with exception of the Ivanhoe course.,has closed the the Lakes course.No more food except hot dogs,no pro shop or real driving range. Just because it is old there is no excuse for chipped paint, gutters that are so full of leaves that almost falling off the building.Ball washers that don't work and usually no starter. I understand the current owner wants to build houses on the property so does just the minimum. Maintenance crew are working very hard and I admire them ,so thank you.

It sad that the once mighty Cottonwood is now just a place just play golf.

The course and pace of play was very good. My only disappointment was the restrooms which needed attention!!
