Cottonwood Golf Club - Ivanhoe Course

Nice day out there today. Greens a bit slow but overall everything in solid shape

The course and staff used to be great but things change.

Poor Cottonwood continues its downward slide. Clubhouse and outbuildings seem to be under constant attack from termites and rot. Great bones and hope they can turn it around.

Fun track, but tight. Course seems to be in pretty good shape. Played two rounds there this week, pace of play has been an issue both times. Lots of people new to the game, but also no marshals out there to enforce pace of play. Good course for the value.

Rough is a little over grown. Fairways and greens are great and fair. Good drives are critical. Don't blame the course...hit it straight!

Course in better condition than last time really fun course

They were following the Covid protocols unlike Steele Canyon. But same course and too bad as it has lots of potential with the right funding.

The course is in amazing shape! The best it has ever been. The real difference out there is the new GM Chantel. She is a young woman with amazing drive and command of her staff that is unprecedented out at Cottonwood. She has completely turned this place around and now, (no joke here) this is one of the nicest, most well kept courses in the county!

During week play and after a day of rain was very good. Of few puddles and soaked areas of fairways but overall very good conditions to play. .

This course probably has 500 old cottonwood trees so it lives up to its name. Old beautiful trees that were looking super healthy yesterday. Like an earlier reviewer said, if they could only get the range back, it would be real close to fully revived. I feel bad for what this course has had to endure over the last many years (water prices, competition from surrounding courses with more money, the declining of recreational golf, etc.) but they have hung in there no doubt. Only one of two courses left but Ivanhoe was always been the better track. The tee boxes are looking much much better and the fairways and greens remain in great shape. People forget this used to be the Monday qualifier course for the Buick Open back in the day (now the Farmers). Its much more of a championship course than essentially any of the older public tracks in SD. Essentially no houses on the course. Again, one gorgeous cottonwood tree after another line the fairways. Hoping so bad this course can stay around for years to come. They and golf deserve it. Thanks for doing what you can to keep a great golf course here in SD.

This course has been a lot happier in its past but it still offers a challenge and offers a course that has ample fairways and reasonable greens

Fairways in Good Condition, Greens in Great Shape, Decent pace of play, very good value.

Ivanhoe looks like a course that could close any day now. it gets a lot of play because the price is low and golfers who want to play there are willing to accept less to pay less. don't confuse it with the Ivanhoe of the past. we had a good day of golf, with good greens at a good rate. If you want more than that, play elsewhere. If your tolerant with conditions and want to keep the price down, play here.

Fix the range. Fix the range. Fix the range. That’s the only negative.

This place is just a fun track. Quick but soft greens.

If you play well, you’ll be rewarded. If you don’t then you’ll be out of position. Bunkers are awesome. Most of the fairways are in great order. Greens were quick and responsive.

We had a 3 some and played quick but the guys in front of us kept pace very well

And we didn’t wait on them much at all.
