Family fun!
Great family golf day for us. Perfect weather in December! The geese, mixed with the scenery and sound of private jets all made for a day well spent.
Great Value
Monterey Pines is a gem. No, it's not Pebble, but at $40 on line including cart, it's a steal! All 18 holes are open, reasonable, and for the most part level. Just two holes are steep, and they are not par 5s! One issue, jet taking off and landing, but, again, still a real deal.
Enjoyed this course
Couldn’t ask for a better round; the fairways and greens were in excellent condition . Pace of play was perfect, with no one pressing or waiting! The staff friendly as well as helpful. I will definitely be back!
Not so good this time.....
Three of us played on 12/4/17. Another gentleman was added to play with us but the rude guy that was the starter, told him he couldn't use a golf cart since you don't allow three carts in a foursome. WTH! You guys had what looked like a tournament of about 20 players, playing in front of us that were playing with 5 guys and sometimes 6 golfers on one hole. Nobody was keeping track of pace of play and our round took 5 hours - Unacceptable! The greens are in terrible shape. Nobody cares about fixing divots, and it's been like this the past two times we've played. You guys cutting back the budget or what?! Anyways, fix your customer service as it's in dire need of work.
Pace of play
Pace of place too slow took 4.5 hours to play
No marshal to move people along
Combine the 2 somes so there are 4 somes
Pair up singles

The Monterey Pines Golf Course was a great experience. The staff was friendly & course was in excellent condition. I would differently recommend to friends & family.

What a Joy!
The Pines is on my top five courses of all time.
The staff is super friendly and greets you when you walk through the door. Course is always neat and groomed, and ready for a tournament. The layout is done by Bob Graves who also did Quail Lodges' layout.
Don't forget the snack bar Hot Dog at the turn; the best I have eaten.
Also, the range uses decent balls and the practice area though modest, is well maintained.
Best golf for the money in the State!
Golf Now poor customer service
The day before my tee time I called 4 times during the office hours of GN trying to change or cancel. All I got was a recorded msg saying to call back during office hours and to leave a msg. The msg I left was never returned.. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! I want my service charge returned.
Great weather, excellent greens
Many challenging holes for a 5500 yard layout, ; nice setup for golfers of all abilities..
Great Value for the money!
This is a little gem of a course that is a great value for the money. Yes, the course is short and easy; but you still have to make your shots. The course conditions were great with nice green fairways and nicely mowed roughs. Pace of play was great on the front nine; but was a bit slow on the back. Overall I would come back here again.
The Slowest Round of My Life
The conditions were fine even though I would have liked to have known that they had recently sanded their greens.
The staff was fantastic. The weather was great. I rated the course as average not because of the staff, but this round was impacted by the snail's pace of he group in front of us. They successfully would not let anyone play through, the marshal told them to pick up the pace, and they didn't.
There has to be something done about this. We will see.
Great course
This course is in great shape, very well maintained. Even though its shorter than most courses its very challenging. I play this course every time I’m down on vacation
Monterey Pines
Great conditions, fairways are beautiful and the grrens receptive and fast.
Fun Round of golf
It's not a difficult course -- like many others on the Monterey Peninsula -- but it's a fun course for mid-high handicap amateurs like me. There are enough challenging holes to keep one focused on playing your best game. The staff is great as are most of the people you meet playing Monterey Pines. It's definitely a great golf value on the Monterey Peninsula!
too slow
course known for its too halves. no policing of players to ensure quick play so 5 -10 minute on every tee made me lose interest. we were in a fourball and a five hour round on a relatively shrt course . play again but only in the week.
Surprised
I'm surprised that this course isn't more popular. We seldom see crowds, that actually slow down play there, in the mornings. Perfect course for walkers. Always in good shape. The price though is what is really nice. Don't know of ANY Monterey area courses you can play for under $40.00 with a cart.
