Great course for the price.
We enjoy this course very much! Greens and fairways in good condition. Nice variety of short and long holes. Good size putting green in great shape. Challenging but fun! We play this course every time we're in the Monterey area.
Great experience
As usual great day at the Pines! My only negative observation is as follows. We had a two-some at a Golf Now rate, my usual method of booking. At the last minute another buddy wanted to play. About 15 minutes before our tee time I called Golf Now to add the other player, they called the course to see if the addition could be added at the discounted price and was denied the cheaper price. Two observations here: An opportunity for the course to earn some good will was squandered for a few bucks. Secondly, the inability of the course to extend what amounted to $10 or $12 discount will in the long run cost them much more than that because If the number of players in my group is questionable, I will book my times elsewhere.
A nice course
I've played many courses around the country and this one is good to play as you prepare for more difficult levels of play.
good shape since remodel
had a great round, may partner shot his age, 81. I had an 83, three year off of my age. Now you don't see players shooting their age every day!
Well conditioned golf course
Don't let the yardage fool you. This course has some great quality holes, and is always kept in excellent condition. Definitely worth playing.
Short but Challangeing.
Executive style course with some fun obstacles to hit around. The driver is less important at this course. Go for a personal record score!
Zzzzzzzzzzzz
While the fairways and greens were in very good condition, I found this course to be just plain boring. Play was slow too. The most interesting part of the course is watching the constant stream of private jets fly overhead. I was so unimpressed that I left after the 13th hole (close to parking lot ;-). While it's tough to beat $40/round in Monterey, I should have played Pacific Grove instead for $65.
Great little course!
Want to have fun? Want to get a great value? Play Monterey pines!!!!!!!
Great Course
We love playing Monterey Pines, they have work hard to maintain. Very good condition now.
Beautiful fairways and greens but loud planes above
Wow the condition of this course is impressive. Its a short easy course. But I was here during car week and that gave a unique challenge. Planes were taking off every few minutes plus an auction was underway nearby and they messed with my swing more times than I wanted. Tee at hole 12 is under repair and a few other so the white tees were moved to the reds which I did not appreciate. But overall a fun day at the golf course!
Great Again
I play Monterey pines fairly often because it is a great course, pace of play is fantastic, and reasonably priced and today was no exception.
The fairways and tees were well manicured, the greens were rolling smoothly. The bunkers had nice fluffy sand and the rough was high but not too penalizing.
The best deal on the Monterey Peninsula. Great walking course
I always walk on this golf course. It is not very long and fairly flat. The course was renovated several years ago and the redesign was excellent. The course is well maintained and the greens are in great shape, smooth and fast. The best deal on the Monterey Peninsula where there are many top ranked courses.
Great option for all golfers
No frills. Just the basics. Short course. Par 69. Very low slope/course rating. But still enjoyable for a skilled golfer. You'll hit irons/hybrids off the tee on several par fours. And there are some very short par threes. But the course still has some teeth. Water and OB can get you and always keep the round interesting. Wind off the bay will add to the challenge as well.
But most importantly: Monterey Pines is affordable for all. It is walker friendly. It accommodates all skill levels and welcomes all comers. It's great for ladies and juniors. It offers nine hole rates. These are all attributes that are solely lacking in public golf today. Places like the Pines help keep the game of golf alive and well.
This greens are I. Great shape
We enjoyed the Pines Golf Course. The staff was friendly & the Starter ( Bill ) gave us info on the course.
We are very fortunate to have this course to play!
From the tree-lined entry way, friendly staff who greet everyone, reasonable greens fees and variety of merchandise available, my favorite course.
Bring all your shots because you will need them. Hard to believe a public course has such great greens, always.
The driving range, practice bunker, and pitching area are well maintained and help with sharpening your game. A trip to the Peninsula is not complete without a round at the Pines! Oh, the restaurant has the absolute BEST hot dogs!
Front nine in better shape than the back but a fun course
Great value
This course is a hidden gem, been playing it for about 3 years now and its always in great condition!
Fun Round
Coarse was in best shape I have ever seen. Played Monterey Pines off and on ever since it was opened to public. Fairways were green and thick. Greens were fast as always. Sand traps had wet sands but, they had sand with good depth. Unlike other courses in the area. It was a fun round and had great time with friends. Will play their again in a few days.
Will be back!
Great day out there, the pace was good, course conditions were good and the staff very welcoming!
