Copper Canyon Golf Club - Lake/Mountain Course
About
The course at Copper Canyon Golf Club is deceptively exclusive in that although the club has prestige and a luxurious atmosphere, there are some reasonably priced tee times. The layout features an interesting mix of holes that offer panoramic views of the White Tank Mountains to the south. The large, undulating greens that are framed by generous fairways are the trademark of the course. Water hazards come into play on a few holes and there are also sand bunkers situated throughout. This golf course offers four sets of teeboxes. Copper Canyon Golf Club has extensive practice facilities for golfers to use as well, including a full length driving range with several target greens, a large practice putting green, and a short game area with a bunker.

Best in the West
Played this course for the first time in Aug and it is the nicest course in the West Valley for sure. Fairways are very forgiving and the greens are very large. There is not a lot of break on the green but they are protected by a lot of sand which makes it challenging. These were the best greens I've played all summer and I play every week. Every approach shot bit well which is very unusual for a AZ summer. They treat you extremely well here.
Very nice course and facility
Condition of course and facilities were great as expected from a Troon facility. Course is very playable. Not the most difficult but I still used every club in the bag.
Another great Troon course
Its hard to go wrong with a Troon Course. Course was in great shape and had some nice quirks to it. Greens were really soft - Only got six inches to a foot of roll no matter what club I hit into the green. The ball rolled real pure on the green.
Good course
For summertime play this golf course is the best I've played yet. Fairways are nice and the greens roll fast and true.
What an awesome day
Course looked great, nice layout and literally the best staff I have ever encountered at a golf club. Could not believe how friendly and helpful everyone was. This is my new favorite course. Can't wait to come back.
Nice greens and well taken care of course.
The course is well taken care of. The only course to use orange paint to identify the sprinkler heads for yardage. Nice! The greens are also nice. Go Play!
Great course that is worth the driving time to get there!
Beautiful course that is in tremendous condition. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Green were in fantastic shape for being middle of summer. Overall a great experience, my only constructive feedback was trying to get beverages at the turn. The lady tending the bar was more interested in her cell phone than helping me or another gentleman that were waiting for service. It was only after another customer got her attention did she acknowledge we were there.
Other than that great day!
Good Value
the greens were excellent .You could hawk the pin and they rolled true...design was good with well placed hazards...we had a nice day
great golf course
Wow.....that says it all
Great golf course all around
From staff to facilities....Will play here again
Lee Schmidt at his best.
A signature Lee Schmidt design. No hidden hazards where all bunkers are in plain site from tee box. Forgiving fairways when you do miss hit a tee shot. Greens are very receptive and roll perfectly. I played with my wife who is a beginner and loved the course as much as I did. Definitely a course to put on your to play list. Well done Lee.
a must play course
a very good lay out, greens were great, fun fun course
fun course always in great shape
This course is always in great shape with great layout. Staff is friendly. Could use a cart lady or two.
Beautiful layout.
I have golf here every chance I get. Beautiful setting and the course is in great shape. It is a drive to get there but it will be worth the time and gas. Home construction still going on and the golf pathways too.
Compliant was no beverage cart at all during the round also the snack bar was closed. You have to go in the restaurant to get something. I had knowledge of this and brought drinks at the gas station at the corner. Yesterday there were lots of Mosquitos never was a problem before. 12 times I have golf there too. Lots of stagnant water from the rain recently. Once this dries out then they will be gone.
Great
Really enjoyed this course. Staff was extremely friendly and really made it worth the drive out there. Will be back!
Great in the middle of nowhere
I played Copper Canyon on 6/25 on a late afternoon tee time. The course is about 15-20 minutes west of Surprise. I live in north Phoenix and it took me about 50 minutes to get there. The course is located in a housing development with not a lot surrounding it. I was surprised at the amount of play at 1:30 on a Wednesday afternoon. A twosome teed off in front of me and for some reason didn't want to let me play through. I still got around in about 3 hours.
Copper Canyon is Troon managed and it shows. Even for late July in Arizona in the middle of the dessert the course conditions were great. Tee boxes were the best I have seen this summer. The fairways were thin but not horrible. Sand traps were all consistent and had sand in them. If you spray your tee shot way off line it will find dessert but you can usually find it. The greens are the best I have seen so far this summer. They had been punched in the beginning of the month but I couldn't tell. They were all the same consistent speed. All of them held a shot and were pretty soft considering the hot and dry conditions.
The course is very playable. The par 4s at CC have a variety of length and difficulty. I hit irons off a couple of par 4s because driver wasn't the safe play. I don't think the course is overly challenging unless you make it with poor tee shots.
The course is a bit of a drive unless you live in northwest Phoenix but worth it a couple of times a year.
Overall a good adventure
Infrastructure such as building and practice facilities are first rate. The course itself is good but but not great. One downside is that it has the longest distances between tees I have ever seen. About 4 holes are like that. I am not dissing the course though as I am sure I will play it again.
Great course...
This course is great and located way out in the west valley. Great condition for being 100+ degrees already. There is a lot of roll on the fairways so be sure to club down or be a straight shooter to avoid fairway bunkers which are generally well within driving distances. The staff are really friendly and accommodating. I went off as a single and joined up with another single (Steve) lives in te community there and was a blast to golf with and have a beer with afterwards. I'd recommend playing this course if you live in the west valley for sure.
GREAT TIME
First time out there this year. One of my top 5 course in Phoenix.
Copper Canyon
A nice track to play and glad we did! Not a course that will wow you with breath taking holes rather a course that is certainly worth playing because it's not to difficult but still makes you work for your pars. Some very nice water holes, will certainly play again. Courses are generally more liked when we score well-aren't they?
Going with the wind
What a beautiful way to try out those golf shots you learned and forgot about way back when. l picked a day when the wind was registering gusts up to 40 mph. Not your usual weather for this neck of the woods. I have to say the course lays out challenging enough to the first time players, but is most forgiving when you place your shots wisely. Commit yourself to the shot and play the course wisely, and you will be justly rewarded. Copper Canyon continues to be a desert oasis for golfers of all handicaps.
