Lake Chabot Golf Course - The 18 Hole Course
About
Situated within the Oakland Hills, Lake Chabot Golf Course offers stunning views that stretch across Oakland, Bay Bridge, and the Lake Chabot area. The course has been a local favorite since it first opened in 1932. Slight changes have been made over the years to improve the layout but it has always maintained its playability. The terrain is hilly, which makes flat lies hard to find. Accuracy and precise shot placement will get you far. The stretch of holes from the 15th to the finish has the best scenery on the golf course. From the risk-reward 15th hole, you can see all the way to San Francisco. The unique final hole is a par 6 that plays to a whopping 673 yards from the back tees. It's a straight, downhill hole with a memorable view.

slow play
it took 5 hours for 16 holes we went home as the play was to slow
Chabit
Very fun course. Nothing spectacularly great about it. Just a lot of fun.
Good public good course
Well maintain greens and fairways. A goods course to practice course management. Right selection of your club is the much.
Great fairways
Lovely course. Good site lines, nice views and greens are great
Pretty good shape!
I have played Chabot only rarely in the past five years, so I was pleased to see that the greens were decent, and many of the fairways in pretty good shape.
There are some great deals to be had mid-week, especially on golfnow.com or their emailings, so check it out some time.
Natural Terrain Layout Makes for a TOUGH Walk
Lots of up and lots of down. Strange natural terrain layout has you hitting across a valley and the entrance driveway at least 4 times. The 15th and 16th holes offer one of the most beautiful panoramic views in golf, highlighting the skylines of both Oakland and San Francisco. Though mostly covered with fog, we could see the Oakland Bay, Golden Gate, and San Mateo bridges along these two holes. The fairways were a bit rough in places, but the greens were in great shape. Great value for a holiday @ $35 with cart. I prefer to walk, but this course is NOT for the casual walker with many steep hills to negotiate, including the approach from a steeply declining 650 yard par 6 18th hole which is so steep, the cart path has several switchbacks.
Hill Course with lots of elevation changes
This is a very hilly course and can be walked but would be challenging. Greens are really small but fairly flat and readable. I was pleasantly surprised by the vistas and the changes in elevation.
And the par 6...you have to play it to believe it.
Beautiful course
Best course for your buck. Wide open and greens were perfect. Beautiful views of forest and overlooks the bay
Good test for anybody!
This is one of my favorite tracks! Fairways are alittle suspect but they are working hard on them! Lots of elevation changes, small greens (some of the smallest I've ever played) pretty smooth and alittle speedy! Great value! Oh, lots of trees!!!!
Hilly Terrain
Nice course - well maintained - moderately challenging because of hilly terrain - no sand traps to speak of - several blind shots
Down hill par 6 to finish
The title says it all, you finish with a down hill par 6, WOW. This course has lots and lots and lots of elevation changes. Basically on most the course you play from tee box down in a valley back up to the green. The major complaint I have with this course is, because you are below the hole very often. Your shot to the flag is blind and that makes it tough to hit your shot to the right distance. So even though the length on the score card is relatively short, the course plays longer. Along with the par 6 finishing hole there is a 140 yard (middle tee) par 3 with 4 story drop to the green. (170 yard 5 story drop from the tips, there are some really great tee boxes if you op to play from the tips) Even with the terrible drought in California right now this course has done a great job of keeping the whole track playable. There were some tee boxes chopped up, but that was because of lots of play. And the greens were a little bumpy and hard to read, again from lots of play. Still a must play course if in the bay area.
The facility has been improved.
The greens are getting better. Weed has been clean up a lot on the fair way side slope. The facility has been improved such as the ball cleaning pot and men's bathroom. Keep up the good work. It will be even better to install some water drinking container along the courses. Thanks.
A very fun round overall
I went with my dad and my neighbor for a fun weekday round and had a blast. We are breakfast and lunch and they both we excellent. Staff was very kind and friendly, overall condition of the course was great. Fun holes and a fun round.
Very nice course.
One of the best deals in the valley, nice course and very scenic. And you must purchase the outstanding hamburgers that's available on the 3rd and 13th hole.
Not Your Old Lake Chabot Gold Course
Course was green and well maintained, albeit the greens were punched three weeks ago and their were not as fast as normal; no dried out fairways; pace a little slow with back-ups at the first four par 3's; 5 hour round, overall pace was ok, did not feel like too much sitting around. course is somewhat challenging due level changes and some very tricky greens. LC has upgraded carts. The food concessions have been very good for years. The clubhouse is old and the lounge is does not induce someone to stay for any length of time. Course secret: looks as if not many people going out after 1:00 pm.
The course is in good shape
The staff was friendly and the course was in great shape.
Looking good
Place is in tip-top shape! Greens rolling nice only 2 semi bumpy besides the normal holy #9
Go play in the "O" BABY!!!!
FORE...........
What a view!!!
Course was very nicely placed and on 15th hole, it was such a nice view of Oakland as other mentioned.
Some course had narrow fairway which needs control over distance. Down hill par 3, 9th hole..gotta consider drop and wind which was a fun hole.
I like the course...wish I could get more discount to play and for Vehicle to pass by for parking and leaving be caution.
Strange set up, but fun course
This is a course where the yardage means almost nothing. There is so much change in elevation you will be guessing how much longer shorter each shot plays. Very unique course especially with the finishing par 6 ( that is amazingly downhill, I hit a 4 hybrid almost 300 yds into the group in front of us... sorry guys!).
Course was in good shape except for no one seems to fix their ball marks on the greens!
Pace of play was OK, in that the course is only 6000 yds and it still took about 4:30 to play.
Fun times had, and would play there again.
Great Course! No Marshal and NO amenities!
My buddies and I go there 4 times a year. We live in SF so it's a little bit of a trek. We generally like the course including the par 6 but not much else. People constantly ask if they can skip holes ahead of you (not due to pace of play) but because they wanna play the par 6. Understandable but we generally play a 4 hour round here. Also during the game the snack shop closes at 2 or before, there is no bartender in the clubhouse after 4:30 or shes to busy making burgers for a first tee like program, we didn't see one marshal the whole time, and saw a twosome of buddies that wanted to play through with some sort of professional photographer actually drive a cart onto the 16th green! Need I say more?
