Lake Chabot Golf Course - The 18 Hole Course
About
Situated within the Oakland Hills, Lake Chabot Golf Course offers stunning views that stretch across Oakland, Bay Bridge, and the Lake Chabot area. The course has been a local favorite since it first opened in 1932. Slight changes have been made over the years to improve the layout but it has always maintained its playability. The terrain is hilly, which makes flat lies hard to find. Accuracy and precise shot placement will get you far. The stretch of holes from the 15th to the finish has the best scenery on the golf course. From the risk-reward 15th hole, you can see all the way to San Francisco. The unique final hole is a par 6 that plays to a whopping 673 yards from the back tees. It's a straight, downhill hole with a memorable view.

Golfer Reviews
Great GolfNow Deal
Considering the extent of the drought in California, the course was in pretty good shape. Greens are firm without being too crazy. There are some areas just off the fairway or your ball can get away from you really easily. Got a pretty good midweek special on golf now taking off just afternoon and was able to play a round in a little over four hours. The lack of a usable driving range was my only complaint
Great value for what it is
Pretty fun course overall. Lots of elevation made it very fun. I thought it was somewhat of an easier course. A lot of short par 4s and 5s and of course the par 6 which really wasn't that difficult. The greens were in pretty good shape and played moderately fast. The fairways were ok but if you go in the rough you're hitting off dirt a lot of the time. We got a great deal from golf now just $20 with a cart at 12:30 on a Monday. So overall a great deal
Great value
Course was in good shape, considering the drought. Greens were a little on the slow side but ran true.
Decent course, but not worth the cost!!!
Greens are in great shape. Tees and fairways are ok shape. Pretty hilly. But the downfall on this course is the cost of a golf cart. It is a pretty hilly course, so a cart is needed by all except the billy goats. My green fee on a Thursday afternoon was $30, which is an acceptable fee, but when I arrived, I found out that was for walking. It cost an additional $17 for the cart - for a total of $47. That is a ridiculous cost for this course. It is worth $30, but NOT $47. I will NEVER go back for that cost.
Raining on arrival.this course is a course the city of OAKLAND should be proud to present
This course has the most beautiful view, and some great holes to play
A lot of elevation from tee to greens!
I enjoyed playing this course, as it has a lot of diversuty to the layoiut of the land! It's been awhile since I last played this course, so was relatively "new" to me, in that I didn't remember quite a few of the holes!
slow play
it took 5 hours for 16 holes we went home as the play was to slow
Chabit
Very fun course. Nothing spectacularly great about it. Just a lot of fun.
Good public good course
Well maintain greens and fairways. A goods course to practice course management. Right selection of your club is the much.
Great fairways
Lovely course. Good site lines, nice views and greens are great
Pretty good shape!
I have played Chabot only rarely in the past five years, so I was pleased to see that the greens were decent, and many of the fairways in pretty good shape.
There are some great deals to be had mid-week, especially on golfnow.com or their emailings, so check it out some time.
Natural Terrain Layout Makes for a TOUGH Walk
Lots of up and lots of down. Strange natural terrain layout has you hitting across a valley and the entrance driveway at least 4 times. The 15th and 16th holes offer one of the most beautiful panoramic views in golf, highlighting the skylines of both Oakland and San Francisco. Though mostly covered with fog, we could see the Oakland Bay, Golden Gate, and San Mateo bridges along these two holes. The fairways were a bit rough in places, but the greens were in great shape. Great value for a holiday @ $35 with cart. I prefer to walk, but this course is NOT for the casual walker with many steep hills to negotiate, including the approach from a steeply declining 650 yard par 6 18th hole which is so steep, the cart path has several switchbacks.
Hill Course with lots of elevation changes
This is a very hilly course and can be walked but would be challenging. Greens are really small but fairly flat and readable. I was pleasantly surprised by the vistas and the changes in elevation.
And the par 6...you have to play it to believe it.
Beautiful course
Best course for your buck. Wide open and greens were perfect. Beautiful views of forest and overlooks the bay
Good test for anybody!
This is one of my favorite tracks! Fairways are alittle suspect but they are working hard on them! Lots of elevation changes, small greens (some of the smallest I've ever played) pretty smooth and alittle speedy! Great value! Oh, lots of trees!!!!
Hilly Terrain
Nice course - well maintained - moderately challenging because of hilly terrain - no sand traps to speak of - several blind shots
Down hill par 6 to finish
The title says it all, you finish with a down hill par 6, WOW. This course has lots and lots and lots of elevation changes. Basically on most the course you play from tee box down in a valley back up to the green. The major complaint I have with this course is, because you are below the hole very often. Your shot to the flag is blind and that makes it tough to hit your shot to the right distance. So even though the length on the score card is relatively short, the course plays longer. Along with the par 6 finishing hole there is a 140 yard (middle tee) par 3 with 4 story drop to the green. (170 yard 5 story drop from the tips, there are some really great tee boxes if you op to play from the tips) Even with the terrible drought in California right now this course has done a great job of keeping the whole track playable. There were some tee boxes chopped up, but that was because of lots of play. And the greens were a little bumpy and hard to read, again from lots of play. Still a must play course if in the bay area.
The facility has been improved.
The greens are getting better. Weed has been clean up a lot on the fair way side slope. The facility has been improved such as the ball cleaning pot and men's bathroom. Keep up the good work. It will be even better to install some water drinking container along the courses. Thanks.
A very fun round overall
I went with my dad and my neighbor for a fun weekday round and had a blast. We are breakfast and lunch and they both we excellent. Staff was very kind and friendly, overall condition of the course was great. Fun holes and a fun round.
Very nice course.
One of the best deals in the valley, nice course and very scenic. And you must purchase the outstanding hamburgers that's available on the 3rd and 13th hole.
