Lake Chabot Golf Course - The 18 Hole Course
About
Situated within the Oakland Hills, Lake Chabot Golf Course offers stunning views that stretch across Oakland, Bay Bridge, and the Lake Chabot area. The course has been a local favorite since it first opened in 1932. Slight changes have been made over the years to improve the layout but it has always maintained its playability. The terrain is hilly, which makes flat lies hard to find. Accuracy and precise shot placement will get you far. The stretch of holes from the 15th to the finish has the best scenery on the golf course. From the risk-reward 15th hole, you can see all the way to San Francisco. The unique final hole is a par 6 that plays to a whopping 673 yards from the back tees. It's a straight, downhill hole with a memorable view.

Golfer Reviews
Slooooow
Pace of play was awful. We didn't start until 20 minutes after our tee time and groups were so stacked on top of one another the round took over 6 hours. I will not be returning
Lots of fun for the $$$
Great views, challenging elevation changes and a lot of personality describe this course. Get off early when the weather is nice as it can get a bit slow at times.
Overall a LOT of fun for the money!
Best Views - fun course! Par 6!!!
I love this course - its great if you just need to get out and play - lots of long, wide friendly holes with a few crazy ones thrown in to keep it fun - par 6 - need I say more
Best golf weather ever!!
I like this course, it is very hilly & every shot is either up or down hill. Beautiful views & great course, the only issue was slow play.
Always fun
A little wet in the early mornings but then dries up nicely. Greens a little fast and the views are beautiful. One of my favorite courses
Very Hilly Course. Pace 5hr+ round on weekday.
Good: If you like hills this course makes you feel like your in Tahoe.
Bad: Pace is 5-6 hours. Bring your hard hat because I almost got hit on every other hole by hackers, and the group behind us driving over us, and a few times while we were still on the green.
Hilly golf course.
Overall conditions were good. Greens were biting and rolling nicely. Very hilly golf course. Some holes are borderline ridiculous with elevation change, forcing blind shots. Considering the price I will recommend this golf course.
Mountain men
Up the mountains down the mountains with unique holes and fantastic views. Greens run pretty well with deceptive severe downhillers. Pace of play a bit slow, more tme to look at scenery
Nice Public course, best value in town
The weather was perfect and the course was in good condition, even with the greens being recently aerated. Don't forget to get a hot link sandwich at the turn, they are amazing!
Great municipal course
Even with the greens being aerated we had a great time. Many brown patches but we come to expect that in California. Great deal through Golf Now.
Very hilly course which adds to the challenge since there are no water hazards and few bunkers.
Good round, but greens were punched
Nice round here as usual. Course in good condition except for the greens, which were punched a uber-slow. Overall fine, good value
Lake Chabot
Good if you really need to get out....I went when it was pouring rain...they wouldn't let me walk because the weather was so bad, but I am glad I got a cart, as it's very hilly.
Cart issue
When I resrrved my tee time through golfnow, it said cart included. However when I got there, I was paired with another player using his cart. If I purchased a cart rate, I would expect have my owncart. Otherwise it should not have been posted online as cart rate.
Great time out
Had a fantastic time at this course. This was my first time playing here and walked off with an 86. Love the elevation changes. Greens were in great shape. I will be back to play again.
Slow play on weekend
Coarse is nice but marshal's should keep slower groups moving faster. We were behind guys with ability hitting three balls really.
5 or so blind tee shots, which meant that that the foursome hit into us twice and we almost got into a alteration
outside the people hitting into us from behind ..ok outing..
Unique Course
Terrain intensive. You'll get a workout walking this course, to be sure. Virtually every hole is significantly up, down, or both. Greens are nice--only moderately fast, but well maintained and roll quite true. I had one of my best putting days ever, which made for a good score. My biggest complaint is the range has been closed the two times in the last two weeks I've played the course. I'm not sure why they can't get the balls picked up and back in the machine for the next day.
Hard to maneuver
Course was nice to play but getting from one hole to the next was a little precarious with a push cart. I would recommend carrying your golf bag and wearing shoes with excellent traction.
Fun course with turns at every hole.
Lake Chabot boasts the first par 6 I've ever played, 18th at 667 yds from the tips. Great opportunities to score well if you can drive the ball. Lots of elevation changes with downhill and uphill shots. 9th hole is a blind downhill par 3 that takes a two or three club difference. Greens are fast and the rest of the course is in fair condition.
Could be better
Course was fine...quirky with better than average muni maintenance. Some interesting holes and spectacular views. Biggest complaint was the pace of play (especially for mid-day Thursday) and lack of action taken by the marshal...didn't even seem to understand that we were waiting on every shot...often 3 groups standing together on the same tee box. When I finally left after hole 16 because it was taking so long, I saw one of the 4 groups on the 18th hole had 6 players and 5 carts. I'd blame the poor level of play and excessive drinking I witnessed, but this seemed to be primarily a course management issue. I won't go out of my way to return.
