Beautiful Soule Park
I made our last minute tee time through GolfNow on Thursday night and was very lucky to find a Hot Deal at a fantastic price. WE checked in with a very pleasant shop attendant, loaded our clubs and were able to get out on time. We played behind a foursome of ladies and I must say...the pace of play was perfect!
Although we had been advised otherwise, the course is in very good condition considering the water shortage we have suffered in Southern California. Overall a very very good experience. We will definitely go again.
Soule has soul
Been playing this course for years. Never had a bad experience. Staff was excellent, course in goodshape for middle is October. Greens rolling good and smooth, fairways are green again and weather was awesome this day . Three of us finished in 3 1/2 hours ! Well worth the short drive . See you guys soon.
Classic Old School Course
Plenty to like about this old school California golf course. Big eucalyptus trees guard well maintained greens. Fairways a little patchy, due to the scarcity of water in the region, but in all, an extremely good golf experience.
My partner and I both bought some really nice sun hats, so as Golf Now participants, we supported the golf shop as well. This Golf Now thing is "the bomb!"
Hittum straight!

Hot Deal makes it worthwhile
Arrived an hour early. Starter had us wait 20 mins before he would check us in and give us a cart. Finally got called to tee box and watched a foursome, who had come from the bar, sloowwwwly hit their errant tee shots The twosome behind them asked the starter if they could go around them, which they did. Still we were waiting. Starter came out and suggested we start on #10. GLad we did. Played the course in 4 hours. Dirt cart paths create a lot of dust and the carts have no windshields. Greens had been recently punched and sanded yet starter made no mention of this at check in. Several overlapping greens and tee boxes. Wouldn't want to play here when it's busy. But overall a decent course if there is a hot deal. The twosome we were paired with helped make the day enjoyable.
Golf
Golf course was in pretty good shape considering this time of year. Greens are absolutely in great shape. Our drive from Valencia is a little long but worth it . Pro shop staff was also very accommodating (Terry)
Hot track
The course layout is great but can be confusing as the pathways are dirt and dusty. It was over 100 degrees so thus a very hot track. Hot dirty and dusty was the feel after the game.
Love this course
I have only played this course twice, I was reminded how much I enjoy playing there
I plan on playing there more often, even though it is a bit of a drive
Great greens!
The new design presents a good challenge. The bunkers have better sand than most courses. Beautiful area.
drought affected
I really enjoy this coarse! Current problem is drought related. Fairways are in poor condition (not much grass) Greens are still pretty good.
Soule park
I have played this course before greens were in excellent shape fairways were dry but that is from the drought. Love coming to Ojai to play this course. GPS in carts is always a plus.
Soule Park
Course is dried out as extreme drought continues. Fariways exceptionally dry and lots of bare patches but greens are very well maintained and slow.
dry course
the course was dry but very playable got a great rate from golf now
was worth the long drive and plan to go back soon
Soule Park
The fairways were dried out. It is a shame considering next door at Ojai Valley Inn the fairways are lush and green.
soule on hard times
Due to the the drought the course is in very bad condition. I've played Soule 100 plus times in the past 40 years. I'm out till they are able to water the fairways.

Played the Oak tees (6806/72.9/128) for $15 in slightly less than 4 Hours. The weather was excellent for golf, partly cloudy, fairly calm, around 80. Visually, the course does not look as good as it used to. The normally large lake between holes #1 & #10 is still mostly dry. However, I really like this layout, it plays decently.
The Poa Annua tees are generally flat and were mowed close, very nice!
The fairways are firm with good coverage. Semi lush would be accurate.
The rough is thinner, hardpan in spots and not overly tall. In many places there was very little difference in being in the fairway or the rough.
The sand traps were decently maintained with fine, dark sand.
The combination Bent & Poa Annua greens were Medium speed with few ball marks. They are firm, but still held approach shots well & putted Okay.
The customer service was excellent. No drink cart, but plenty of water stations on the course. This is an average difficulty course to walk, not very hilly, no significant elevation changes or long hikes between any holes. Recommended = yes.

Played the Oak tees (6806/72.9/128) on their week of B-Day promotion, $15 including a cart. Thanks Soule Park! Partly cloudy, fairly calm weekday morning, around 80, excellent golf weather.
Overall, the course conditions were better than my last visit her in the fall of 2015.
The tees are generally flat and the Poa Annua was mowed close, very nice!
The fairways are more thin than lush with good coverage. Firm would be accurate.
The rough is thin, hardpan in spots and not overly tall. In many places there was very little difference in being in the fairway or the rough.
The sand traps were decently maintained with fine, dark sand.
The combination Bent & Poa Annua greens were firm & putted OK. Medium speed with few ball marks and held approach shots well.
Soule hosted the CIF Southern Section Golf Championship yesterday, so GUR and hazards were well marked.
The customer service was excellent. The normally large lake between holes #1 & #10 is still mostly dry. No drink cart, but plenty of water stations on the course.
This is an average difficulty course to walk, not very hilly, no significant elevation changes or long hikes between any holes. I really like this layout, the conditions have improved to where I will work this course back into my regular local rotation. Recommended = yes.

Played the Oak tees (6806/72.9/128) with RGM2525 in 3.5 hours on a partly cloudy, calm weekday morning. Low 70's, great golf conditions. Used my B-Day deal, $15 with a cart, thanks Soule Park! This is an average difficulty course to walk, not very hilly, no significant elevation changes or long hikes between any holes. The mostly bent greens are getting more and more poa annua on them. They putted well, medium to medium fast speed with few ball marks and held approach shots well. The fairways are probably more thin than lush with good coverage. The rough is not overly tall and semi lush to thin in spots. In many places there was very little difference in being in the fairway or the rough. The sand traps were very nicely maintained with fine, dark sand. A bad omen is that the lake between #1 & #10 was down a good 10' below full, it was barely half full. There were hundreds of balls in the mud that would normally be submerged. I have never played here before when the lake was not full, the visual difference was shocking. The customer service was excellent, they got us right out in front of other groups and we were rarely held up AD. No drink cart, but plenty of water stations on the course. Overall, the course only looked average, but I thought it played better than average. I really like this layout and wish the course were closer so I could play it more often.

Played the Orange tees (6541/71.5/125) with RGM2525 in 3h, 45m on their "Wacky Wed." promotion, $12 to walk. The customer service was excellent, they got us matched up with another 2some and we were rarely held up. Sunny, calm weekday afternoon, low 80's, great golf conditions.
This is an average difficulty course to walk, not very hilly, no significant elevation changes or long hikes between any holes.
The tees are generally flat but were a combination of furry and thin. A couple were closed for maintenance.
The fairways are more thin than lush with good coverage.
The rough is thin, hardpan in spots and not overly tall. In many places there was very little difference in being in the fairway or the rough.
The sand traps were OK with fine, dark sand.
The mostly bent greens are getting more and more poa annua on them. They were firm & putted OK. Medium speed with few ball marks and held approach shots well.
The normally large lake between holes #1 & #10 is about 90% dry. No drink cart, but plenty of water stations on the course. Overall, the course is dry and really showing signs of the drought. I really like this layout, but conditions will need to improve significantly before it justifies me driving to Ojai again.
Best greens in Ventura County
Soule Park's staff is very co operative. As a salesman I like course that I can zoom in and get off as a single and they've always got it done. A very scenic course with wide fairways can be deceiving and all the strategically placed oaks can definitely make a birdie hole a bogey. The greens are in perfect shape and usually run between 10-11. On most holes there is a shaved false front that will run you right off the putting surface if you don't carry it. My tip is to definitely practice bump and run wedge shots.
