Gimmicky??
When I arrived at Esplanade at Azario Lakewood Ranch, I was warned about the greens more than once. I certainly appreciated the notice!
The course is gorgeous, with not one brown spot on the greens, in the fairways, and in the rough. It plays beautifully, true to distance because there are few divots in the fairways, and there is actually grass to provide a realistic roll.
Approaching the end of the round, I considered the greens. When I was warned about the greens, I expected them to be fast, as a course might be following a major tournament. I was pleasantly surprised that the greens were manageable for an average golfer like me only because they weren’t necessarily fast, but rather undulating. I was more reminded of goofy golf, rather than slick tournament greens. I’m not a good putter, but my total putt count remained the same as other courses.
Would I play Esplanade at Azario Lakewood Ranch again? Absolutely. And I hope to play it again soon.

I’ve played Azario since it opened. Greens r starting to soften and that makes it even better. It’s a great layout and very playable.
The greens r challenging and that’s what I really love. Once the green speeds increase a bit this course will be very tough but fair.
During peak season it’s a bit $$$$. But u should still give it a try

Nice and open to bomb the fairways. Greens were awesome, love the undulations and speed. They rolled true, the way greens should be.

Beautiful condition and layout.
Had a great experience. Best course I played this year in FL..Some greens were a little spotty but all were true. Fairways and tee boxes were in excellent shape. Could not complete 18 because of 2 slow groups in front of us. Plan to come back next time I am in FL.

Will be one of the best
The layout is beautiful. The fairways are nice the greens are extremely hard . You cannot play the stick when hitting an approach shot to the green . The greens roll and are true but you have to play the front of the green when the flag is in the middle or back . When the stick is in the front , good luck

Across the board
I look for challenge and still fairness as well as manicured beauty in a course
Esplanade at Azario is top of the line across the board
Layout offers opportunity to score with ample fairways, but we’ll placed traps and water hazards punish a bad shot
Greens are firm, fast and undulating

Wonderful course
18 holes of pure joy!! Floating balls on driving range, not so much. Also miss the 19th hole to settle up wager and enjoy cocktails. This is a must play course! Great condition.

Good conditions but..
Course was in great condition but the greens have way to much slope on them. You can hit good shots and get penalized. Beautiful layout but wouldn't go back. Only saw cart girl on 5th hole never again.

Very playable course from the correct tee boxes
This fairly new course is relatively flat and fairly wide open. There is a fair amount of water but you can see the course in front of you. Pace of play was excellant at just under 4 hours. The greens are very true and in great shape. I would prefer to see a little longer fairway grass. Sand traps were excellent. The only downside are the prices (we paid twilight rates at 2:19 pm) but I could say that about all 5 different courses I played in the area over a four day period. Of the 5 courses I played I would rank this course 2nd in overall conditions and value for your money although that is a relative term.

Interesting course
We played on a spectacular day. The course is in excellent shape. Greens are so firm it’s hard to make a ball hold. I suspect this is from being very new. Greens are tricky, with lots of break on most greens. Pace of play is not great, as they expect rounds to take about 4 1/2 hours. A lot of time is wasted by many groups on the greens as they cope with the speed (fast) and breaks.
