Getting ready to sell?
Course is only watering greens & tees - rest of course is dead - amazing considering how much rain we had this past winter.
Been a lot better
Although you the price paid can not be beat...
The course fairways are in bad shape. An old friend of mine titled this "The Mountain Goat" course and for good reason. Almost every fairway lie is uphill or downhill. This can be overcome for sure, when the course is watered properly to eliminate a hard as a rock lie, or minimize the ground cracking. Never seen it this bad and the starter did mention there was a problem with the watering system before hitting off the first tee. Just wish this would have been communicated properly before paying for the round, either on the phone when I called ahead or at the the pro shop.
I have second thoughts on ever playing here again, it was not as fun as it used to be....
High and Dry !!
They told me the water main busted. Until they realized,it was too late! The whole course was yellow. Greens were not bad. I love the layout. Some holes were unfair due to the dry conditions. All in all it was a nice course with plenty of great views and great holes !!
Course is in bad shape.
Whoever owns this course has let it just go down the drain. The fairways are in terrible conditions. Tee boxes are all dry and beat up as well. Last time I'm playing here. Don't waste your money unless you're a 20 handicap and just want to hack it up.
Desperately in need of water
Broken water main prevented watering the course for several months. As a result, course looked horrible, which took away greatly from overall experience. Cannot recommend this course until it has had ample time to recover and regrow.
Very nice mountain view and good for money
Very friendly staff and very good for the money. But fairway is very dry because of draught in CA..
Beautiful golf course
Absolutely beautiful golf course in excellent condition. We were allowed to go out as a two and so we're several others, however the pace of play was greatly very poor and frustrating. I understand many things affect pace-of-play so it could have just been a bad time to play. In any case, I highly recommend this course.
No Water
Played this course 7/7/2017.
Santa Clara Water District no longer provides water and the course is in unplayable condition. Fariways are yellow, and ground is dirt/cracked. Very easy to lose your ball as it bounces around (even on fairways).
Would recommend waiting till they figure out their water system before playing..
Golf = Grass, Summitpointe = Dirt
As an avid golfer and someone who plays 2 times per week, this is by far the worst course I've played on 2 years. If you enjoy tee'ing off into a field of corn, this is the course for you!
Spectacular views of dead grass and un-clumped dirt. This course really allows you to play your bump and run game and impersonate your best Ben Hogan, great for the golfer who tops and blades all his approach shots.
This course is equivalent to how a much a frat boy is dehydrated on a Saturday morning. If you like golf at all, don't come here.
Needs water
I played this course a couple of years ago and it was in much better shape then. Now, the fairways are parched and in some places cracking. You get a good rollout but you are generally hitting from hard, dead grass. Maybe they are preparing to reseed with a more drought tolerant grass. The greens were in excellent shape and fast.
This course has beautiful view.
Not....green enough. Rest room needs better maintenance
Needs work....
Broken water pipes? course is all but dead except the greens. Bunkers like concrete, no sand and brutal to get out of. Smoke butts every where you look, really every where. I used to like playing this course, not so much now. Sorry to the staff, hope they get it together.
Don't Even Think About It
course has ZERO access to outside water, leaving the fairways, rough and tee boxes in literal dirt. Fairways are filled with dirt and crab grass, scratching up club heads and ruining good shots. It would have been a good move for the club to let people know ahead of time the water situation, as I wouldn't have played here knowing that.
First visit to Summitpointe
My first visit to Summitpointe was disappointing. While the layout is challenging with lots of narrow fairways, the condition of the fairways was sad. The fairways vary from 80% - 100% dead grass. Most of the bunkers had little sand in them. The greens were in very good condition. The driving range is short (no woods allowed).
While the course has lots of potential, the very poor conditions will keep me from returning.
Dry Fairways
Very challenging layout and fun course to play. Green were in good shape, but fairways are patchy and mostly dry. I saw a notice that they are having a water supply issue, and it shows
Summit Point needs to Help Course Superintendent - Poorly kept Fairways!
I feel I am fair & objective, and not a snobby golfer.
Played every course from Spyglass/Olympic Club. TO Pruneridge lately.
Even had a good round, here, with a great round putting . . . 4 part saves, 2 birdies, 2 puts for eagle.
The greens here, were ok . . . But,
Compared to 2 other courses in the area, San Jose Muni and Sunnyvale Golf, . . . the fairways & rough at Summit Point were flat out poor!
The golfer finding the fairways after hitting a good drive will find their ball sitting on a dry patch of turf, lumpy mixed matched crab grass, or at times a fluffy puff of weedy crab grass. Does this course have trouble maintaining, the usual " Green BLADE GRASS" that is found on other nicer courses?
The overall look of the fairways look dried out in most areas . . Are they holding out on watering to keep an attractive lush appearance? We are out of the previous water rationin aren't we?
If Not For The "GolfNow VIP", our twosome agreed, this wold not of been a value at all. And he was more vehement than I about Not returning!
Avoid this course, unless you are in practice mode, and get a good green fee!

Not worth the money
I went here on a Sunday to play at 7:12am. While the views are great, the staff members are nice, and the course is challenging, the conditions are pretty awful. The fairways are long, dead grass, which is surprising given the rain we have had, and full of areas under maintenance or just plain swamp lands. The greens are mostly okay, but there were plenty of areas that were down to the sand beneath due to poor cutting / maintenance. Lastly, even though the fairways were oddly long, there were plenty of dead clumps of grass all over the place just waiting to hide your ball.
Just simply not worth the money, as the attention to detail is pretty poor.
