Sun setting on my most recent round from the 18th fairway looking across the lake to the 10th fairway. Photo submitted by statboysffl on 01/07/2013
Not worthy
First of all, its way over priced. Secondly, the pace was awful (we have to wait for every single shot throughout the whole round),Thirdly fairway is unfair, I have lost so many balls even my friend have slow motion videos, Last but not the least, holes are intertwined, too many people looking for balls in the same area. I'd pass next time
Horrible conditions
You shouldn't lose your ball in the fairways or first cut of rough. On this day, you spent more time looking for your ball then you do playing the hole under normal conditions. Seems like they haven't mowed for weeks. Not sure what is going on here but terrible conditions and definitely not worth your time or money.
Not Good
I played Summitpointe a couple of times in 2015, during the drought period, and the course was bad, but understandably; I assumed because of the lack of water and the restriction being placed on it by San Jose Water Authority.
Two years later it is very green, but still in poor condition. It is as through they now have the water, but have run of of money. The Tee Boxes and Fairways are just in a very poor condition, the bunkers are empty, and the overall course, which seemed 'dry', was for 80% of the time 'cart path only'
it's time to cut the grass
After al the rain, it's about time to cut the grass.
Course was still very wet and soggy with the recent rains. Cart paths only. Which only exacerbated the slow play. 5 1/2+ hrs
Slog Fest
After all the rain unfortunately the course has several unplayable holes on back nine due to excessive water in fairways. #15, 16, & 18. Either tee it up in those fairways or bring a little hitting mat.
3 Hour, 9 Hole Round
My group was suppose to tee off at 1:45 but had to wait until around 2:15 to tee off because the course did not have any golf carts and made us wait by the cart barn to pickup a cart from someone who just finished.... Seemed like there was a tee time every 3 minutes (no spacing in between groups). Course was so backed up it took us three hours to finish 9 holes, gave up on the back nine and just decided to leave. Waste of money and time.
Slow pace, no marshall
12:15 tee time and it took a 2 some 3 hrs for 9 holes!
Both groups in front of us playong from the tips and barely driving 200 yrds!
Need marshalls to speed pace up, or common sense to tee of in the appropriate tee boxes
Playing ready golf would really help also!
Overall a challenging course, but fun to play. Needs marshals for monitoring
I have played there in the past and found it to be a good place to play. My last round however was an exception. There was never a marshal on the course to speed up the play of the foursome in front of us. On the back nine we could see two open holes in front of this group. We were constantly waiting to hit, sometimes in excess of 8-10 minutes. We eventually cut the round short and left. We had paired up with 2 people we didn't know and they also left.
Don't to play at this time of the year
Horrible!!
I which I could have a refund!
I had quit playing after few holes because horrible golf course!!
No fun
golf course
Green are perfect but the fair way we're very dry and in bad conditions
Racist
The course is challenged but I expected that from the price. The greens are green but the fairways are burnt. A surprise was the lakes in the bunkers given the drought in California and the dry fairways
But, unexpected was the absolute racism I was subjected to at the first tee. We had a 10:30 Tee time. When we showed up at 10:20 we were told by the starter we were not going to tee off as He had already had a two some and a Single at 10:30. I suggested he call the office as we have a 10:30 "golf now" reservation. He responded "I don't care. I say who goes. The junior manager came out and agreed we were the 10:30 Tee time and that the starter should not have done that. But in the End the Starter sent his "Buddies" out and we were left hung out to dry. If you are a Caucasian then do not expect this course to respect your Tee time. You will wait until the Starter decides you can Tee off. I will not play this course again.
sidehill lies
very hilly and course knowledge is key as many drives are aimed into rough as ball will roll into fairway(maybe)
Nice local weekend course...
My round started 7:15 and we played from the middle (white) tees.
Pros:
- Love the course layout! Variety galore.
- Pace was good. Finished the round just under 4 hr. We played as a threesome with another threesome in front and a two some behind.
- At $42 on weekend with a cart, it is a good deal.
Cons:
- The driving range doesn't open until 9:00 am.
- several greens were in poor change with either no grass especially on the edges or uneven cuts.
All in all a nice course in average condition with an economical weekend rates (via golfnow booking).
very, very good
Summitpointe is my home course. I have many, many friends there. The price of golf is more than fair. Tee time availability is mostly good.
Cart path only
Nice view , lot of left to right fairways greens are tough , bring your best game .
Only issue is on 4th hole they should allow cart to go in the fairway , it helps all ages .
Add some fairway grass!
Summittpointe should be a great course. The layout is challenging but fair outside of hole #4. Very sad to see the fairways and tee boxes full of gopher holes, dead grass and dirt. The greens were in very good shape however. Sad that no one seems to care about this course anymore. the views from many of the holes of the Valley are spectacular. There is a lot of greenery once you leave the course.
I understand about the drought. There should be no excuse for all the holes and crabgrass on the bare fairways.
