Great Day of Golf at the Summit
Reservation was acknowledged by staff w/o question or delay.
Course was understandably browner than usual bec of drought. Greens were ok though. No problems with cart.
Just one thing that could have made the day greater was if there was food cart that day.
For the weekend golfer, bring extra balls.
Hole #4 ... avoid the slopes ... shoot for the bunker on the left
Hole #7 ... lay up before the small lake.
Challenging course.....
Playing this course reminds me of playing in Europe....
A course were course management comes into play....
Don't forget to buy a yardage book and try to play along with a local who knows the course.
Food in restaurant is good and staff is friendly.
Only remark was the pace of play. A lot of golfers think they can play as a pro. Therefore they tee off on the wrong teebox......
Also if you're not used to walking, get a cart....
Summit pointe
Course would be awesome if they had water. Greens were green, nothing else was
Up for the Challenge?
When we booked this course, one of the guys in our foursome backed out for fear of the course. The course was very dry and I don't blame the facility, I blame mother nature for not giving us some much needed rain! If you walk this course, GOOD LUCK! It does have a lot of hills but it's fun a course. You really have to know where to hit your tee shot to have a great game. I shot just over 100 and I just started to play again after surgery. I am decent but not a scratch golfer. If the conditions were better I think I could have shot in the low 90's which is my average. Got a great deal on a Sunday late afternoon tee time of $25 so you can't beat that price with a cart on a Sunday!!!!!
The course is in really bad conditions
Course in very poor condition. A shot on the fairway, n you end up on hard solid dirt.
Good value for the m oney
Most fairways are in bad shape. and need of more water and weed abatement.
Bad shape
The course is in terrible shape. I suppose due to the drought the fairways are brown and greens are rough. The pace was 5 hours for 18 holes which is the norm in the Bay Area. Great meal deal with golf but the course was hard to play on.
Pace of play was terrible
We left the course after 5:45 on hole 16. we will never be back again
Impossible to score
The slopes and conditions took all the fun out of a round of golf along with a 6 hour pace of play, will not be coming back. The only positive was the free breakfast and lunch
This course had brilliant views
This course has a great layout and is unusual. I enjoyed playing it although the course was a little ragged in places. My only complaint is the pace of play. It was a busy day, but the foursome in front of us was excruciatingly slow and almost rude.
Pace of play was super slow
Summitpointe GC offers a reasonable rate and it lures you in by it's lower green fee in relation to other area courses. As always, once I hit the 2nd hole, then the third....I remember why I never play this course. Greens are in good shape and receptive but the rest of the course is horrendous. I guess when you just played Bayonet then come play here, you have to lower your standards. Staff is super friendly but I am here to play golf.
Course needs work
Might be because we are in a drought. This was my first time playing this course. Lots of hills and fairways were pretty bad. Inconsistent greens. Some fast and some pretty slow. Front 9 were in pretty bad condition but back 9 were actually nice. Also pace of play was bad. For being near a country club I expected more.
Interesting course that cound be maintained better
I played here first time with my friends. The scene is beautiful. The fairway is narrow and slopped. The green is tricky. It is an interesting course for weekend golfers. It keeps us think on every teebox. Without a strategy, you will have a consequence. Although the green quality is good, the fairway and teebox are poorly maintained. There is too much dirt in sand bunkers. The price is reasonable.
Course was so crowded that it took us 3.5 hours just for front 9
The pacing of the players were so many that it slow down everything. It took us 3.5 hours just for front 9.
It was a crowded day on Sunday that:
- they ran out range ball
- ran out of cart
- slow in ordering free lunch ( it lack of staffs. poor guy in cafeteria that he has to run around between bar and kitchen a lot).
At the 10th hole, we quite and asked for rain check. it was to late for us to finish the whole course
This course was a fun course.
The course was a fun course. The back nine is more challenging than the front nine.
challenging for beginner
Played with 2 friends, one is a beginner, he lost many balls. Overall it was a good round on a good day.
greens kill all amatures...
Greens, soooo fast, if player put from upper side on green, ball never stopped. Rolling rollng rolling forever... I ate humberger, it was super yammy!
Forgotten Beauty
It has been years since I have played Summitpointe, why, I don't know, it was awesome. We saw good time and price on GolfNow and booked it. I am so glad we did, I had forgotten, completely forgotten, what a beautiful view, challenging course and close to downtown San Jose.
This course was just okay
Some fairway has land nature setting, not proper to built a golf course.
Value
Good value for mid week rates. Lots of elevation changes..and the greens are real tricky
