Summit overview
This course was challenging but enjoyable. The scenic views on the front nine is Kodak moment.
7 minute start times
I played Saturday at 1:50pm and Wednesday at 12:15. Both days start time were delayed and the pace of play was very slow with two foresomes or more on every hole. I believe it is because of the 7 minute start times. I love this course, but it is not fun to play here anymore.
Good valley & bay views
The course is somewhat challenging but in very good condition. The greens were nice, especialy after the wet wheather. There are some beautiful views of the valley and the south bay.
Course is fair/lots of water/traps
Was lucky enough to have a great weather day..70 with small wind.Course was in good shape...tee
box/fairways good...greens fast and true,,,excellent
Course has elevation/slopes plenty of lakes/sand traps.Tuff to walk...so I rode.Nice course..I`ve played it like 5 times in 10 years.
The greens
I have always liked this course and was wondering how the lack of rain had effected it? To my surprize not much there are some thin spots in the fairways but ovrrall not a problem. The greens were great fun they sere fast and you have to read them well or it will be a very long day
challenging course if you are not familiar with it
the course was challenging with uneven lies even when you hit the fairways, pace of play was very slow, the course was crowded, had to wait for golf carts to be returned before being able to tee off due to shortage of carts.
One of the best courses around
I play here as often as I could. The entire course is always in great condition. Very challenging.
Good course, green is a bit too difficult
We played on Saturday, December. It was nice weather. The course was well-maintained. On this course, the green is always a bit too difficult for me. I made a lot of 3-pat when I hit over the pin. But we enjoyed a lot.
Pleasant surprise considering Previous Yelp reviews by others
Contrary to the Yelp reviews I read the day before playing there for the first time, I had a wonderful experience! Too bad the fairways were recently plugged but aside from that, it was great. Pace of play was perfect, no waiting! Teed off at 8am on a Monday and I don't think I'd want to try it on a weekend as I can see it to be very slow pace. I look forward to getting back soon so I can remember the holes (many of them) where you cannot see the green or hazards ahead of you. No hole was the same and all were simply a joy to play!
Nice view. Too many slopes and uneven surfaces.
Too many slopes and uneven surfaces. It was a beautiful day and a great view of the City . Our round was ruined when the maintenance crew ran the lawn mower over the last 9 holes. They were following us from hole to hole.
It was distracting and rude. We couldn't hear ourselves talk let alone concentrate on Golf. The only time they actual turned off the mower was when the course Marshall showed up on one hole.
very challenging
This course is greatly improved since I played it about a decade ago. Sod faced bunkers on some holes and stairways to fairways on severe slopes with many little touches that show a lot of work has been done. course is very pristine on the fairways and greens with the greens in superb shape. this course is very difficult with many slopes hills and contours to deal with if it is the first time on the course without any help as to how the holes play you will learn a lot. Check your ego at the car park as this will challenge every phase of any players levels of the game.
Good value for the money!!
The greens in great condition. Fairways below average could use more soil amendments. Beautiful course with nice views.
This course is fun to play
Greens were a little quicker than usual. A couple of fairways were just aerated.
Interesting course layout...greens are just unfair
Got it for a reasonable price. Pace of play was pretty good...for the people in front of us. Got paired with the 2 slowest guys I've ever seen in my life. 7 practice shots before each shot? Yeah, that happened.
Course is in reasonably good shape. Greens are well maintained. Some fairways are totally soaked. Hard to imagine how this is a problem given that it's surrounded by dried brush on a hillside. Has to be a problem created by the course, not the water table or runoff.
Biggest complaint is that the greens are so fast/hard/sloped that it's not even fair. Beautiful putt just a few inches past the cup? Nope...that's rolling 30 feet downhill and off the green. Chipping onto the green? Nope, that's going to take some crazy break and roll all the way back down past where you started. The greens just killed the fun for me.
Second biggest complaint is that the terrain really punishes anyone that can't hit a draw. Hit it straight or a fade and a shot that landed on the left edge of the fairway is going to roll all the way right to the cart path... we're talking 30+ degree slopes in the middle of the fairways (some of which are crazy narrow). You're rarely going to have an even lie.
I did enjoy the back 9 more than the front.
I would rather pay $15 more and play Coyote Creek with the GolfNow specials. Impeccably maintained course, with hole layouts that are tough and greens that are pretty fast, but not completely unfair like the ones here.
The best public golf course in San Jose area.
This is so far the best public golf course in bay area within my price range ($30 and below).
Fun course with some bite.
The elevation changes and hills make this both a challenging and fun course to play. This course plays on the long side, with a lot of Par 4 and 5 holes. I would definitely recommend playing this course at least once.
Huge delays, no carts available
When we showed up for our tee time, the staff rang us up and THEN told us there was a 15 minute backlog. Turns out, it was a 30 minute backlog (could have been more as at 3:00 PM, the group teeing off at 2:28 PM were asking if they could go next on tee!)AND there weren't enough golf carts available. The attendant didn't ask us if we would be ok sharing a cart with a complete stranger but just told us we would be doing so. I cancelled based on those two factors (we would have played only 9 holes based on the backlog). Result is that I lost the booking charge for using golfnow. Terrible terrible management by the course staff.
