Sun setting on my most recent round from the 18th fairway looking across the lake to the 10th fairway. Photo submitted by statboysffl on 01/07/2013
Pace of play was brutally slow
5 1/2 hour round of golf. It was just brutal. Seemed like the rangers on the course could have cared less. I play all over the Bay area but it won't be here anymore. The 3 some in front of us played from the blue tees- some one should have put them up to the reds...
Time of Play
We played a 5 1/2 round on 9/29, which was way too long. Too many twosomes out on the course, which slowed down play
Marshall's didn't seem to care that play was so slow.
It was typical to pull up to a tee-box and have 2 other groups still on the box
Sloped Valley Course
Played this course on a Sunday after getting rained out on Saturday. The course is pretty hilly, and you rarely get a flat lie even when hitting the fairways. Greens are OK. They were a bit slow because of the rainfall the previous day. Some greens have a significant back to front slope, and others are tiered. Pace of play was decent - slowed a bit due to my playing partners. In all this is a decent little course if you can hit it straight off the tee. Otherwise, there is quite a bit of trouble out there. Definitely not for slicers.
Challenging greens
Great rate special, a lot of people also took up the challenge which caused some back up
Great view,
Overall it's pretty good, little slow at the end. Somehow they are doing airification on half of each green, makes it very hard to judge the speed.
It's easy, not challenge the course.
The players need field management because fairways are slightly hillside slope.
Very hilly
Would not recommend this course for beginner. Course is very hilly with very few level lies. Greens are very unfair with severe sloping and undulations. Layout is nice with great views, but course was literally dropped in the middle of a bunch of hills.
Sloped Fairways and Greens
Summit Pointe is typically slow due in large part to the canyon layout. If you cannot shape your shot, an otherwise perfect drive landing on a side slope is rolling down the hill. Or you are faced with a hook or slice lie with the ball above or below your feet. 3 putts from above the hole are common because many greens have significant slopes as well. Drainage is poor and fairways are pretty beat up although greens are good.
Unfriendly staff and they are always short of carts.

Course Was great
The course was great and it was a beautiful day.
The greens were really tough with the sloped surfaces this made it challenging.
Challenging, well maintained and friendly staff.
Course has challenging features with well maintained greens, good carts and friendly guys in the pro shop and 1st tee starter.
Not worth the wait
The course is running a special through next month which books it solid and made playing extremely slow. It took over two and a half hours to play the first nine when I gave up. Ended up waiting forever at each hole. Not worth the wait.
For golfers looking for a fair challenge to your game.
i think this is a hidden gem and a great value for the money. Fairway course conditons were very good and greens are in excellent shape. The course is not wide open, so you will need to be selective in your targets instead of just bombing it. Every hole seems to have a unique feature. Most fairways are sloped to the right or left, so aim a little left or right and you should find the middle of the fairway I enjoyed the panaramic views
convenient in Si Valley and greens in good condition
front nine can be challenging due to side hill lies. #8 is tough dogleg left w/ left to right sloping fairway and all up hill. back nine has fewer side hill lies but #12 fairway is tight and sloped left to right w/ a big tree that tends to block shots to the green. #14 & #15 are back to back par 5s that can be reached in two w/ accurate 280 yd drives. Stay to left side of fairway on #13 as pond on right not so visible and on approach pond on left of green so bail to right side. Greens are well maintained
Nice place, but not during "specials"
This is a beautiful course, I thought we lucked out on the deal we found, which we did until we were almost done with the first nine. Then Mr.Ambassador motors up & advises us to play quicker, "...even if means you gotta pick your ball & move on...". i didnt know how quite to take this as i was slightly offended since we did not see him mention this to any other parties on the course. Furthermore we can only go as fast as the parties ahead of us. He continued to linger for the remaining holes of our first nine which made our party quite uncomfortable like we were doing something wrong. He made some mention of it being "slammed" because of the special they had goin on, well perhaps they should space out the tee times a little better.
Great Course. Well maintained. Friendly staff. Overall a great place and will defiantly go again

Summitpoint in Milpitas is a great course.
This is one of the best golf courses for the money in the SF Bay Area. Every hole seems unique and I really like the elevation changes. Most fairways are on slopes which gives me good practice and there is a great mix of short and long holes. Love to play this course with my regular buddies.
This course has nice view. The course is challenging due to elevation changes, and barely have flat stand for 2nd shot. Overall, it is a great course.

THIS GOLF COURSE IS TOO CROWDED
The course was not a problem it is just that they packed the place and too make matters worse a junior tourney was also held at the same time. There is no reason it takes 5 hours to complete 18 holes in this place. Where is the Marshall when you need one. I was a bit annoyed that I asking for a refund.
