River View Golf Course
About
Situated within the Santa Ana Riverbed, River View Golf Course is conveniently located just minutes from Disneyland, Anaheim, and Long Beach. The course's design intertwines with the river, providing challenging hazards on several holes. The narrow layout also features elevated greens that rarely offer a flat lie and are fiercely guarded by sand. Accuracy is a necessity throughout this golf course. Although it offers a fair amount of challenges, there is also ample room off the tees that makes the course more accessible for beginners. River View G.C. is also popular for its practice facilities, which include a driving range with targets and the county's largest putting course. While the other facilities may be modest, River View offers an affordable game that is one of Orange County's best values.

I love this course
This course is not that long but really challenging. I am a beginner and it is the most difficult course I have ever played. recommended!
gem of Santa Ana
Riverview is a good value and a great practice. elevation changes, greens are in good shape, layout requires accuracy on some holes, distance on others. Got teed up with a nice golfer, had a good round on a nice day.
Golf in a big ditch . . . without the charm . . .
River View sits mostly in the Santa Ana "river" ditch. The holes go across, up and down the very tall levees, and greens are often perched at the top of the levees, so lots of awkward uphill approach shots into some blind green locations. Course condition was poor to average. I give it a bit of a break for the price, but the tee boxes and fairways were in really bad shape. The greens were surprisingly good, given the overall poor condition of the course. It is a very interesting course in that the designers had to deal with winding a golf course in and out of a huge ditch. It's reminiscent of some of the "wash" courses in the Palm Springs area, without the charm. Pace of play was excruciatingly slow, but I give it a little deference in that it was a Saturday. There is a dearth of golf courses in the L.A. area, particularly affordable public courses, so this one gets a ton of play, and it shows. Give it a try if you're looking for an interesting course, but go with low expectations on course conditions and don't expect to do well on your first try, as the extremely elevated and sometime blind green locationsm along with tee shots at strange angles to the "ditch", require a good knowledge of the course. Without it, expect to be frustrated. The poor course conditions and slow pace of play only make it more frustrating. I'll be back in the spring or summer and see if they have improved the conditions. Always willing to give a course a 2nd try.
Meh
Playing an underpass with a 15 minute wait on each hole which was in a gulley and up a mountain was not fun. Either was 7 par 3s. Nothing about this course makes sense. Would not play again.
Don’t waste your time here
First off the starter was completely rude. He was getting mad at us because we couldn’t understand him because of his mumbling
This course is basically in a wash with zero grass so even if you do hit a good shot your second shot most likely is in a dirt patch. Second they spread sand throughout the whole course and even in the fairways. The layout of the course is a joke. The driving range is in terrible condition and the range balls seemed like they were 10 years old. The balls were all scuffed up and you could just tell they were super old. I’m not one to review courses but I wanted to make sure people read this. I will say the greens were in good condition but very slow and the practice greens were actually very nice. Other than that I will never golf at this place again and I will make sure my friends know not to go here. This place is like someone set up a golf course in their back yard. I guess this is what I get for getting a last minute round in the night before.
Best Course
Fairways are beautiful, rain did make some of the fairways a little narrow but other than that the course is beautiful!!
Playable and Challenging
We had a good day, course conditions and greens were great considering it’s winter time and most courses are trying to survive.
River view impresses me every time I visit.
Not disappointed expect the extra charge for riding in separate carts when it was not busy at all and there were several available.
Price seemed a little excessive when golf now prices are supposed to “include cart”
interesting course
I was pleasantly surprised after playing this course. Interesting layout along the Santa Ana riverbed. Necessary to avoid shots into the riverbed, although much of it lists as free drop zone due to the constantly changing riverbed conditions after heavy rains. I definitely would play this course again because it had challenges, conditions of fairways were not too bad, greens were good, and for the money value was great. Biggest negative was the large number of leaves on tree lined parts of the fairway, likely due to seasonal drop.
Good Value for a challenging course
Got a hot deal with a couple of friends. First time at the course and it was definitely a challenge. If you miss the fairway on tee off then your gonna have a tough time. For the price I would recommend if you want to challenge yourself with tight fairways and uphill greens.
9 holes only!
Booking online shows 18 holes but only 9! Reduced to an executive course.
Before you book let people know that it’s only nine holes not 18
I was all set to play a nice round for 18 holes on the first day of the year then was told it would only be nine holes OK I get it because of the rains and the river being too high but poor course management did not properly explain how the temporary holes were laid out a lot of confusing lead to a lot of backed up of golfers which was pretty frustrating
Challenging layout
My first time playing here was one of challenge and intrigue. The course layout was tough for me because there seemed to be water to the right on most longer holes which was difficult as I have a tendency to slice a driver. The elevated greens on many were fun to attack and that was a highlight of the course. Greens were in superb condition much to my surprise.
The heavy rains of late have washed out some of the fairways, but the crew is working diligently on repairing them and I hope to play here again when things dry up a bit.
Will play again and I hope to score better on my next visit.
Quick 9
Due to the weather the course was only available to play nine. Lots of par threes so it moved quickly. They let you play another nine for a reasonable price overall good experience.
Only offering a 9 hole
Nice course, friendly Marshall.. good pace of play. Clean environment. They’re just only offering a 9 hole. They should have mentioned that earlier considering I drove over half an hour to get to the course. My friend and I planned for a 4 hour golf day and it messed up our plans but the course was nice.
Good shape… but modified 9 hole only layout
Only half course open and it’s a modified 9 hole layout with temp greens. I wish I knew that before waking up early this morning and making the 30 min drive here. I only found out when I checked in. Might want to call before booking and making the trip.
It’s usually in good condition and the full 18 hole is pretty cool so I’d recommend it.. just not today though. A little bummed, but oh well.
Disappointed
The course was in terrible condition & only 9 holes were open & they wouldn't let us play 18 holes
