no sand
For the price we paid they should have sand in the bunkers. All the bunkers had no sand at all. It was like hitting off a hard dirt road.
8 minutes too close
Very slow play didn't realize till arrived at course that groups were 8 minutes apart ... too close
greens revived n smooth n fasr
Have not seen east greens this nice for about ten years. Great job blurok east
Blue Rock Springs.
Blue Rock Springs is a beautiful, maintained public course. IT IS WORTH THE 45MINUTE DRIVE FROM OUR HOUSE. Both courses are in great shape. The west course is more challenging because it is narrow and not as wide as the East one. We always enjoy playing on either course.
Excellent Condition
Best condition for Blue Rock I've ever seen. True greens and very nice fairways
no a bad deal
It is an older "short" course designed before the advent of the ProV1. It really a second shot course. The greens were in fairly good shape, the tee boxes were ok. The pace of play is slow. They allow 5 and they let people tee off both 1 and 10.
The service is poor. The guy at the front desk wanted me to pay twice. I paid on line but he said he saw no record I paid on golfnow. It was unusual because he saw my reservation on the system. Good thing I printed out the online receipt.
A comfortable challenge
A comfortable challenge:
If you've ever played Hiddenbrooke which is located in the same area then you have a very good understanding of what this course offers in terms of challenges vistas and views.
difficult round
I learned that I must check for scheduled tournaments prior to booking a tee time. The pace was almost unbearably slow. I normally enjoy playing this course - it's in great condition except for the hard pan bunkers.
7-Hour Round - Nightmare
I went to play Blue Rock GC in Vallejo, CA this past weekend. As I went to check in I was met by a very busy clerk behind the counter. His tone and deportment was curt and direct. I wanted to check in a little early, get a cart, and head over to the range to hit a small bucket of balls. He did not have any carts available for me. Since the driving range is too far away to walk to I was left to put on a small putting green near the pro shop. The clerk said he would notify me over the intercom when a cart was available. However, he never notified me and as I got within 15 min of my tee time I made my way back to the pro shop. I asked him if he had a cart available for me since my tee time was in 15 min. He immediately spotted a cart that had just been returned by a patron and told me to take that cart. The cart was littered with cigarette butts, garbage and the seats were dirty from spilt beer. I ended up going to the restroom to wet a towel to wipe off the seat so I could sit down. More fun began as I began my round. We had players in front of us who were throwing down extra balls and doing things like going to the next tee box to tee off and then returning the the previous green to finish holing out. No marshalls were available to get this slow play group in front of us moving. The course phone number was left unanswered. As a result, our round was one of the most painful rounds I have played in a very long time. It took 7 hours to complete! On top of that, I counted two water jugs and one weak water fountain available on the course and No drink cart available. The sand traps had zero sand in them w/only hard pan clay dirt to hit off of. I honestly could not recommend this course to anyone.
Always Enjoy Blue Rock
The course is coming out of Winter in great shape. The one thing they need to work on is the bunkers. Terrible. Like hitting off of gunite.
Blue Rock is in great condition
Played Blue Rock West yesterday and the course is in beautiful condition. The greens are firm and medium fast and the fairways are lush. Played the round in right at 4 hours, only had brief waits throughout round. Nice views from the higher tee boxes.
Course has some cool elevation changes
Went out with 3 others on a Saturday morning. Weather was a bit chilly at first as tee time was 7:40am. Weather warmed up and conditions became excellent. The grass was wet due to rain from previous day, but nothing to drastic. Had a great time out and a great day. Pace of play could have been a just a tad but quicker from the couple of groups in front of us, but that wasn't too big of a deal. Overall, I really like this course. I would have to say I still like the East side just a hair more than the West course here at Blue Rock Springs Golf Course, but only because I have played it more often.
Bluerock Springs East
Always fun and challenging.
Great course for the price!
East course is very underrated and well worth the price of admission!
good value
Greens were in excellent condition however fairways were very sloppy due to recent rains. Paid $34 on a Sunday morning, very reasonable. Looking forward to playing again in drier conditions.
Have to play here
Love playing here great course with lots of challenges. I play this course often and the pace of play is usually very good, but due to the rain the course was cart path only and there were a few groups walking anyway besides that this is a very good course with a west and eastern side 18.
cater to the public, they pay as well
Seems the Men's Club is not only the top but the only priority. Played a round on Friday, Cart path only, in front of us was a fivesome (again, cart path ONLY) This "feisty" five were teeing off from the tips , very often just carrying the Reds. We made a query, so to speak , to the Marshall, we got a "oh , there with the Men's club" a brilliant retort. REALLY, so clubbers can gang up and play , not only bad, but slow golf from a tee box designed for golfers that can at least carry the ball past the teeing ground complex. Never again.
Blue Rock Spring east course
I would have given the course a 5 star if the sand bunkers did not have big rocks in it.
Sorry to hear about your experience. We are working on improving our bunkers on the East course. Come give us another try! Give the West a try - nice views and some say more challenging than the East course.
