our local 9
for a beginner golfer there's no better place to play.
holes are short but as a beginner female golfer I can still use the driver on about half the holes. greens could use a little work but overall pretty solid. prepare to lose a few balls on hole 6. I think we sliced 3 into the screen and likely onto Glenwood Ave. :)
Easy course
Course in pretty good shape. Greens could use some work but overall, okay.
Golf Cars need some maintenance
Overall, I enjoy playing at Charlie Yates. It is a great course to go out and play a quick 9-holes, par 3/4 course. But their golf cars need some attention. My parking brake did not work well at all, so I had to be strategic about parking it where it wouldn't roll. I told the Golf Shop about it after my round.
Great 9 hole course
Absolutely loved this 9 hole course. Great condition..great pace of play. Holes are really laid out well. Going to make this a regular stop.
What A Par 3 Course!
This course has BEAUTIFUL scenery!! You can tell quickly this course is kept in the most pristine condition year-round! The staff is friendly and very accommodating with last minute changes to reservations. The course can get backed up easily, but the marshalls usually keep the pace moving. A bit overpriced for 9 holes (reason for 4 stars) because I will pay it most times to get on the course. I love the morning tee times, and would come earlier if they were open at 7 am. Not a course that will wreck your energy for the rest of the day and a couple par 4s are reachable for me in 1 so it definitely boosts the self-esteem as well!! LOVE. THIS. COURSE!!
Great In-Town Course
Probably the best public in-town course. Beautiful greens. Solid driving range.
Great Little Golf Course
This is an executive 9 hole course affiliated with First Tee. 6 par 3's and 3 par 4's. The golf professional, Jeff, and his staff are very friendly and helpful. The practice range is big and level and they have good range balls at a very reasonable price. The putting green and short game practice green/area are across the street but not that far. You can take a cart over there if you choose to ride. It is pretty hilly, even though it's a short course, but you will get a workout if you walk. The greens, tees and fairways are all in excellent shape. The greens are smooth, not too fast, but fast enough to be pretty true. They are pretty soft right now and hold a shot well. Do not get in a rush. It will probably take you 2hours or so to play 9 holes unless there is nobody out there, but I wouldn't count on that. It's a fun course for a lower handicapper to work on his short came and for beginners and ladies. If you don't have 5hrs to play a regulation 18 hole course, this is a fun little golf course to play! Give it a try some time.
Awesome Practice Facility
Moved to Atlanta a few months ago. I work at a private golf club and this was my first opportunity to visit a public facility. The practice facility was so awesome I never got on the course. Driving range is excellent; natural turf & good targets. Practice putting green is nice; good size, mowed & rolled well. The hidden gem is the HUGE practice chipping green; great condition, lots of different looks from 35 yards and in & I was allowed to use my shag bag so long as I purchased some range balls or a round of golf. I will be returning often and recommending Yates to anyone who needs to work on their game! I understand why so few public courses offer these amenities anymore - because they need golf on the course. Hats off to Yates for understanding the key roll the practice facility plays for the golfer!
Fairways and greens in great shape!
It is an executive course and played in one hour. Great for that quick golf fix!
Fun Track
Had an opportunity to play before flying back west. Didn't have time to play a full size course but had a blast playing Yates! Being a par 3 it made sense to walk since it was cart path only. Loved all the elevation changes, undulations and uneven lies forcing me to use some strategy. The course wasn't in top shape but still played fine. Loved seeing all kinds of wildlife-fish, turtles, lizards, etc., nice change of pace compared the squirrels we see in So Cal. Entered as a walk-on, rented a decent set of Nike clubs, a pull cart and 2nd lap around for under $40, a good bargain in my book. Would definitely play it again, and again!
Great!
Greens were immaculate, especially for a public course. Length was perfect for a weekday after work 9-hole round. Pace of play was slowed on first 9 due to a man teaching a woman how to play and allowing her to take unlimited strokes per hole.
Golf at Charlie Yates
Played golf yesterday at Charlie Yates, with my son. It was our first time to play C.Y. and we had an enjoyable day. The course is still rebounding from the winter but I believe it will be a decent course(9 holes) when the weather gets warmer and everything grows in.
I would encourage fathers to take their sons & daughters to C.Y. as it is a good place to learn the game of golf.
Good but challenging
Course is a challenging course because it is very arrow with many slopes. Course is packed into a very small piece of land, requiring very challenging shots. All holes are either up hill or down hill. Would only recommend if inside the perimeter and need a quick round.
