Great value
This is an excellent course when it's wet or dry. It rained some, but the course was in excellent shape. Great value.
Great value for the cost
9 hole is a time saver and staff very friendly and helpful
Good escape for a quick 9
I played this course back when it was fairly new, around the year 2000. I remember the greens being really challenging and very well maintained. It's been quite awhile since my last visit, and there are a few greens that look a bit shabby. There are a few that are well kept, but overall this course is great to get in a quick 9 holes. It's a fun layout with some elevation on some holes. It's good for practicing your long iron tee shots, and short iron approaches. You won't need all of your clubs, I primarily used my 6, 7, PW, 60 deg, and driving iron. It's a good place to get in real-time practice vs. blindly hitting range balls. Look for a good GolfNow deal, and it'll be worth it.
Hidden gem
Wow!
I don't usually play 9 hole courses, as I hate going around twice, but you can tell this started as a top-notch course. This course is a close (across the street) relation to the East Lake course played for the FedEx Cup final and it shows. It is great for working on your game, as the layout will challenge everyone. My only area of concern is the condition of the greens, many were burned and scarred (I am new to Atlanta and the South, so it may have just been summer damage) making putting difficult. As a First Tee course, it deserves all the support we can give.
Very nice course
Very nice course, fast greens, well maintained, good for a quickey nine..shot makers course
What happened to Charlie Yates?
This course is a shell of its prior conditions from the last time I played it 10 years ago. The greens were in terrible shape.
Great Course
Course played well. The only set back was I played behind a pair that 20 stokes per hole and slowed the pace of play down tremendously.
Cheap Price, Rude Players
Rude advanced golfer and friend jumped in front of me, even though, I was teed up already...said I was playing too many balls. (How did he know, I hadn't taken a shot yet!)
So, I'm a beginner, but I wait for him and his friend, to get to their balls, about 180 yards away...
Took My tee shot, called 4, and buzzed a perfect slice right over both there heads, landing 10 feet away...
Got flipped off, I don't care, I dislike rude golfers, who have no patience for beginners.
He tells a Marshall, I hit a ball at Him, I told the Marshall, He cut in front of Me!
Anyway, Marshall said, He's been play there for years, and Me?
I'm a Beginner...Who do You think, story got believed???
Oh, the one nice person I did meet, was a children's golf teacher...take My picture for Me...Thank You Miss!
Will not play there ever again, despite low price...
I would post My picture, the nice golf teacher took, but I fear reprisals may be taken against Me for what I just wrote, and I absolutely Love this Game, I'm just beginning to learn how to play!!!
This is a beautiful walkable course
The course is currently replacing ALL green side bunkers once it's finished this will be my home course for sure EXCELLENT COURSE !!!!!!
We are glad you enjoy coming out to the Yates Course! See you soon!
Great short game practice
Mostly par 3's with a couple of shortish par 4's. Very hilly. Green conditions firm, fast and smooth. I had a blast playing here. Very relaxing to not have to fight for distance. Just swing a little 8 iron or wedge and go to your putt or chip. Only took hour and a half to complete the round. A great way to sneak in a little golf without a huge time commitment. I shot 36. Now doesn't that score have a nice ring to it (even if it is actually 6 over par)!
Nice little course
I'm from out of town....nice course and driving range. Staff was great.
Great executive course
Best bang for buck inside Atlanta, in my opinion. Greens almost always in great shape, course is well maintained. A not so hidden gem. I play it weekly and have for many years.
yates
fun course, they really pack in as many people as possible, been stuck behind three groups of 4, finished right as the sun went down. Club house was closed by the time we were done.
Slow play
I play here often. This round, I had a foursome ahead of me that made me wait for every, single, shot. My fault, I Iet it get to me. Still, it would have been courteous to let me play through as a single. They clearly didn't care to do that and my round suffered. Course is great for this time of year. However, the 6th is a mess and under construction.
This is my go to course. Just a great nine hole course to play.
This is a great course to play. Challenging but yet fun. I will continue to play this course for as long as I can swing a golf club. Staff members at the course are great!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Charlie Yates G C
This is a great course to work on your game, the location is good and the staff is very friendly.
This course is great for a tune up.
Iplay Charlie when my short game needs a tuneup. That is waht I got yesterday. Since I would being alone I finished in 1hour and 15 minutes.
LOVE THE COURSE!!!!
Great fun!
My first time at this course, I also brought a friend who had never played before that day, it was a great round, I will tell my other friends.
Don't expect a fast round
Course is in decent condition with a good mix of easy and more difficult par 3's/short par 4's. My issue is with the pace of play. There was a foursome of ladies holding everyone up, with nobody in front of them, and they would not let anyone of the singles or twosomes behind play through. The marshal informed my group that we should be patient and that most likely nobody was going to play through the foursome of ladies. If Monday evening is not a good time for a single to play, then when is? I normally wouldn't attribute the stubbornness and egos of the ladies to the course, but allegedly one of the ladies was a manager at the course. She should know more than anyone to let faster people through. Extremely disappointed. Why have a marshal if he can't tell people to speed up or let players through?
Château Élan Stay & Play Golf Package
It's unmarked, but there is a practice area across the street. The lower green is putting only with an upper green for chipping, pitching, and two sand-bunkers. Access requires either purchase of a round or range balls.
