Challenging
Challenging tight golf course. Course conditions fair.
Mixed Bag
I looked forward to playing this course as it's a Donald Ross and has a lot of history. The course was in good shape, including the greens, so no complaints there. The course had everything I thought I liked in a course - rolling hills, lots of trees, well maintained. However, for me personally, something was missing. The design was simply uninspiring, surprising for a Ross design., and rather one-dimensional in its monotony, especially for approach shots. At some courses, you can't wait to get to the next hole. Here, I couldn't wait for the round to finish. Nevertheless, I will recommend the course because of the condition, well, it is a Ross after all.
Historic Gem in Augusta
Enjoyed playing this Donald Ross course not far from the most historic course in Augusta.
Great Layout
Very good overall experience. Pro shop was very friendly and efficient. Course itself was very good. Layout was extremely good. Conditions could have been better on some tee boxes and in some areas of the course. Fairways and greens were quite good, but there were some weeds around some edges and in some fairways. If you like traditional Donald Ross designs you will really enjoy this one. Terrain is much like that at nearby Augusta National....just not course conditions.
Awesome course layout with excellent greens
This was my first time playing the course. I loved the course layout. It was fun, challenging and very pretty. This is an old-school course layout with the tees close to the greens with lots of dog leg holes. The layout was great and I will definitely be back to play again.
Deception
I had a family member come in from out of town for a weekend of golf. I was looking forward to Sunday at Forest Hills. We paid our fees and proceeded to the practice greens. After teeing off and reaching the first green, we realized the greens had just been aerated. This completely messed up our entire round. We were not offered a discount, nor advised that the greens had been aerated. Had we have been informed, we would not of played for the amount that we were charged. And the fact that the practice greens were NOT aerated, adds to my presumption that we were deceived.
Best value around
I played this course 30 years ago when it was just coming back from being ignored by the Feds. It's now part of Augusta university and home to the NCAA champs Jaguars. I played it twice last week and found it to be a great test especially from the tips.
Forest Hills GC
Perfect weather and a good course. Played along with 2 other Golfnowers for a great time. Conditions still not there yet from winter. If my memory serves the best conditions are late summer, early fall. No complaints, greens were very quick and somewhat thin but rolled great, don't recall a putt moving offline due to green conditions. Tees, fairways good, chipping areas thin but manageable, bunkers have new sand making them a little tricky but not bad. Played marginally today especially off the tee so had many chances to chip and hit bunker shots, great challenge. Highly recommend in this area.
Great Hot Deal
Generally really good. We played after a rain day and were restricted to cart path only which was not really necessary. They could have roped off the areas that were damp as most of the course was really hard. Made for a long day.
Great Layout.
This course is worth the hour drive that I drive to play it. It's alway in great condition.
Forest Hills Golf Club
Nice course with some interesting hole. I enjoy this course when I can get a deal on the cost. I will play this course again.
Enjoyed Playing Forrest Hills
My first two rounds of the year have been at Forrest Hills. Overall, I enjoyed playing the course. The greens are fast as they should be since it is still winter. I was able to shoot 91 and 86, and I could have been lower had my putting been on par. I found the tee boxes on some holes to be lacking grass, but that is to be expected this time of year. The green complexes are large and fast. The fairways are in good shape, and I found them to be forgiving and room to shape your shots. I got to watch one of my best friends get his first hole in one on the Par 3 16th hole playing about 170 yards with a 6 iron. Overall I would recommend Forrest Hills, and I know from experience that the course will be in good shape as the weather improves and grows warmer.
Forest Hills GC
Enjoyed the round today since about only 10 REAL golfers were playing from noon to 3 PM when I left. Slightly windy today with 30 - 40 MPH wind gusts but it was sunny and warm in the afternoon. Morning rain drenched the course and was the wettest I've ever seen it. Cart path only, fairways mushy but you could find dry areas. Bunkers full of water where I lost my only ball on #7. Greens were very slow for their standards probably a 8 on the stimp which thew me off making multiple three putts. Hit a PW from 100 yards on #15 and it didn't even get halfway to the green, did I mention it was windy. Awesomet time shooting a 86.
good & fun day
we had a good time as we were paired with a couple of locals for the first 9 but unfortunatunately they gave up as it was too cold for them. we did complete our 18.some fairway was a bit too soggy but overall course was well maintained & greens was quite fast.
Forest Hills GC
Great course with great winter conditions. Slightly wet making chipping difficult since some of the lies were tight and I short sided more than a few greens today. I would play this course twice a week if I could. Great greens not only their condition but their individual challenges.
Best Condition I've seen this course Ever..
I moved from augusta four years ago and would play this course one or two times a year over the 10 years I lived there. Course conditions today were outstanding, along with the lightning fast greens.
Played from the white tees, which is not very long, but the greens are small and undulating which is where the difficulty in scoring arises. Experience and some book work are really needed to insure you hit into the greens on the correct side to insure you are below the hole.
Course is in best shape ever and saw very little play today..
Nice course
Ever since this course had gotten new ownership it's been on of the best public courses in Augusta.
Great golf course to play
Went on vacation and planned to play Forest Hills as part of vacation. No disappointment at all on the course layout or conditions. Actually I rank this course as the best I have ever played overall. Prices were very reasonable and course was in good shape and offered challenges. Plays like a championship course. Will plan another vacation and play this course in the future too. Had a great time and loved it.
Forest Hills
Great course to play, course was in excellent shape, played with visiting relations and they also loved the course.
