Cart path on the front nine torn up. Sod on greens and still changing full price

Carts often were not allowed on fairway when paths were closed. Required backing up on many holes, slowing play and extending round. Greens still had lined out areas making these areas not available for play.

I have played over 1000 rounds at Forest Hills. Love the course and hope the repairs will be completed soon.

The cart paths on the front 9 were all tore up and waiting to be replaced in the near future. The carts have an auto cut off that goes into affect when entering a restricted area. The issue is on several holes the carts would shut off even when driving right next to the cart paths that were in a state of disrepair. There were several occasions where our group had to drive in reverse to allow us to proceed to the next hole which was extremely frustrating.

Also, the greens were recently aerated and most of the greens were patched with new sod in several areas of the greens. These areas were treated as ground under repair, but was very annoying having to do so on most of the holes

Historically the course has been a lot of fun to play, but this latest experience was true misery. I wish that the clubhouse employees had informed us of the issues prior to us paying. The total cost with cart was $47.

I would recommend avoiding the course until all the improvements are completed which is several weeks at best

I was not told about the condition of the greens when I made the tee times even when I asked about the condition of the course. Also they had the carts set up for cart path only when the fairways were as dry as they could be. The carts shut off as soon as they left the cart path. I asked the pro shop about the cart path situation at the turn but was told they couldn't do anything about it. It made for a miserable day due to the heat, the condition of the greens, and the cart path situation. I won't go back until some improvements are made and the staff is more upfront about the condition of the course. It's unfortunate because I've played this course before and it has always been in great shape. We traveled 75 miles to play there and felt like we were ripped off.

Old traditional course with a great layout, fabulous views and good pace of play. Unfortunately some of the greens had a fair amount of fungus, but most of the greens rolled true with less break than expected. The tee boxes however were somewhat bare, wet, and not always flat. The fairways were in great shape.

When I arrived I was informed that my tee has been delayed due to them punching the greens. They did offer to speak to golfnow to get me a refund. At that point I felt it was too late. Staff and course was great. I wNt to come back when the greens are as expected.

Hadn't played this course in a while. We did get a break for what was told as minimum green damage. Greens are pretty much trashed. Additionally, the pace of play was horrible. No structure in the tees times, we were waiting on the first tee box, 20 minutes later than expected tee time. The round was dreadfully slow. They really need to work on course management. Big disappointment.

Really enjoy the Dave Ross design of this course and the staff does a fine job of maintaining fairways and tee boxes. Usually these greens are pristine but something happened in the last year where the course lost all of the greens. Now players are forced to putt through sandy conditions on the greens and they’re pretty furry because they’re trying to let them grow back and recover. Playing from the back tees at this course seems to be my favorite location as it opens up the course to driver on most holes.

I've played at Forest Hills off and on for seven years. It's a fun course built in the twenties with some interesting holes. This was the first time this year that we played. The fairways, bunkers and tee boxes were all in acceptable condition. The greens were practicably unplayable though. On almost every hole, 1/4 to more than half of the grass on the green was gone, dead, non-existent. There is no warning on Golf Now or when you check in that the greens are in such poor shape. We wound up giving everyone a two putt once they reached the green. It was worse than playing on a green that had just been aerated. At the turn, one of our threesome complained at the desk and they seemed offended by the complaint and blamed a freeze back in the winter. When asked why other courses in the area didn't have the same issue, they said that it was due to the higher elevation of Forest Hills compared to other courses. Needless to say, until we hear the greens have recovered, we won't be playing here again. There are too many other options in the Augusta area.

Excellent course, but the greens are not good now, I never seen the greens like this.

Normally I would rate the course conditions excellent but some of the greens are struggling from the winter. I’m sure they will be back in tip top condition very soon. Still one of the best public courses in the CSRA.

Nice layout, fairways in great shape. Pace of play was good and staff was nice. Beware the greens suffered over the winter and 17 out of 18 greens are heavily damaged and incredibly hard to put on.

This is a course where you never look at a review to see what the course conditions are since they are normally the best in town. We were shocked to see the condition of the greens. It appears they put down too much fertilizer and completely destroyed them, only 16 is normal. Its hard do describe how ban they are. 75 percent of each green is damaged and there is no grass present, just lumps of dead turf, it may take all summer or longer for them to recover since it appears the roots are gone. Rest of the course is in good shape.

The greens are heavily damaged including the practice putting area. The range was closed and it was cart path only due to recent rain which made pace of play slow.

I’ve played this course many times and this is the worst shape I’ve ever seen it in!

fairways were wide! Good pin placements for the different levels! Unfortunately came when they sanded the greens. Lots of walkers lined up with carts which made the play slow.
