Butternut Creek Golf Course
About
Mountain views can be found on all 18 holes at Butternut Creek Golf Course, located in north Georgia. Elevation changes, mounds and undulating greens are all part of the challenge on the Bill Watts-designed golf course. No two holes are alike and water comes into play on 13 holes. With four to six tee boxes on every hole, the golf course can play as short or as long as you like. Butternut Creek is owned and operated by the Union County Recreation Department.

Lots of fun
Fun course. Up and down some steep hills with breathtaking views of the mountains of North Georgia. Not like any course I’ve played before. Would strongly recommend.
Great condition
The course was in great shape tees thru greens. Lots of slope and turns. Be ready for lots of blind shots.
Wonderful Course
This is a county course that is absoltely gorgeous and is in immaculate condition. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Blairsville. They have a gorgeous clubhouse facility and staff. Not too hard for beginners but all you want for the experienced players. Fast greens. Go play
Awesome course
Great course, really enjoyed the screen with the rangefinder built it, by far best improvement so far
Do NOT Play Thursdays
This is a wonderful facility. The course conditions were very good in spite of heavy rain the night before. CPO is never fun, but worth it on the glorious sunny day with temperatures in the low 80s.
The greens conditions were excellent!
There is a grille above the clubhouse and food was very good.
Unfortunately we were unaware of league play on Thursdays. The marshall did not move them along and the league players have NO clue that pace of play is an important part of the game.
We will play here again other than on Thursdays.
Course has recovered a great deal after last year's loss of its greens..pace of play was good, course is in good shape. Good value and golf experience.
Great Public Course
I absolutely love this course. The staff were friendly and they paired me up with two nice people. The greens were perfect and the fairways were firm. This course is well taken care of for a public course.
Interesting
Huge elevation changes makes this a fun course. Would take a couple of times to play to be able to effectively deal with the elevation changes. Course conditioning was excellent.
What a mess
Should not have scheduled this round. A city councilman had taken some number of golf carts for the July 4th celebration in town ... and they were not returned (thus, a shortage of carts for the 10:50 tee time). The Men's league which plays on Friday mornings does a shot gun start, and were still on the course, and were being given priority over the people with tee times. Our round started 40 minutes late, which cost us three holes. We were on the green at 14 when the thunder storm / lighting chased us off the course. We might have been able to finish the round if we had gotten out on time.
A very expensive, frustrating round of golf for what we got. And all we got from the 'staff' was excuses. I have other choices for golf in north Georgia, and I won't be back to Butternut Creek any time soon.
Hello. Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for your experience during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We are going to escalate your feedback to our team so we can make improvements before your next game. We will continue to work towards an excellent experience by using your comment for guidance. Thank you for playing Butternut Creek. We hope to see you again soon.
Smooth...
First of all, Butternut is a very pretty golf venue. Course was in great shape, and the greens in particular were rolling very nicely. Enjoyed the up and down nature of the course. Only course negative is the lack of a range for warming up, and the limited chipping and putting area. Restaurant was closed Sunday, disappointing, as they serve excellent food.
Hello, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you'll give us another try in the near future.
