Butternut Creek Golf Course
About
Mountain views can be found on all 18 holes at Butternut Creek Golf Course, located in north Georgia. Elevation changes, mounds and undulating greens are all part of the challenge on the Bill Watts-designed golf course. No two holes are alike and water comes into play on 13 holes. With four to six tee boxes on every hole, the golf course can play as short or as long as you like. Butternut Creek is owned and operated by the Union County Recreation Department.

Great course
Absolutely a great course and a great value. Loved it and will play it again.
Great course in great condition
This is simply a super course in great condition (tees, fairways, and greens) with the most spectacular views of any course I have ever played or am likely to play. In the mountains with severe up and down inclines, it presents a real challenge with club selection, at least to a Florida golfer like myself. Loved the ball and club washers on the carts, which also have GPS. I will definitely play it again if and when I am visiting in the area. My only regret is that I forgot a camera I resolved to bring after playing the course the first time ten years ago.
Excellent layout and elevations! Looking forward to playing again very soon, played 3 times in the last two weeks!
The elevations and layout of course is very challenging! Enjoy playing it everytime and staff are very friendly as well!
First timer
I actually was a member of Butternut Golf Course for the past 15 years. A shoulder injury has had me playing 3-5 times, the past two years. Golf Now is a better deal for my circumstances. Thank you GN for new options!
Butternut Creek
Nice staff, grill closed a week for chef's vacation, very hilly and a lot of blind shots to green. Greens were in good shape!
Mountain Views
Great views on every hole!
This course is good for Blue Ridge travel
This course is looks like short and compact.
But, there are many hills and pond. So, pretty changeable. It is good for Blue Ridge travel.
Great time
I enjoyed playing the course again. Was my second time. Was great to have the gps to help with the course layout.
A little crowded, but...
This is an excellent course. The greens are well maintained (although quite challenging!), fairways are good and the t-boxes are decent. My wife and I played on a Friday morning, and we enjoyed it so much that we returned to play again on the following Monday afternoon. Friday morning play was slow (about 5 hours) because it was so crowded. But really it was worth the slow play.
5 somes!!!
We love Butternut Creek, HOWEVER, on Saturday, May 21, we had two fivesomes ahead of us. We were a twosome. Between 9 and 10 we passed one of the groups and the fivesome on the tee box on hole 10 let us play through. Saturday may not be the day to allow a group of 5. Also check on their level of play. With one group, it didn't matter. They were golfers and moved right along. The other group had to be beginners playing from the back tees....holy cow!!!
Also, there were two young men just riding around and doing donuts on the course. You all may want to put a ranger out there as the season gets busier.
Great Golf Course In The Mountains
Great golf course to play in the North Georgia Mountains
Great place to play
Some great views and challenging holes. Course was in very good shape. Staff is friendly, prices are fair, and a grill to eat at during or after the round. Wish there were not so many blind shots to greens so I could see my ball land 4 feet from the hole every time ;)
Beautiful, scenic challenging layout with great value
Course was in excellent condition. Fairways were good and growing in very well. Most greens were healthy and had a good, but not quick pace. Beautiful surrounding views of the mountains while located in Blairsville and on a four lane highway. The staff is very friendly and the clubhouse has the same quality as the best private clubs. Make the visit and you will be glad that you did.
Three Putt
Front was great but the back was slow. Otherwise, we enjoyed the round.
Top 5 Favorite Courses
A great course that is plenty long, wide, and beautiful. A few holes are narrow and tricky. The golf carts with GPS are definitely a big help. Lots of water is also in play on many holes. I absolutely love playing here.
Best course in the area for the money. Well maintained, friendly staff, and reasonalby priced.
The weather was gorgeous as was the play. Eventhough cart path only due to heavy winter rains, pace of play was good. Really nice golf course. Always well maintained with continued improvements each year. Nice clubhouse and pub with decent food. Great atmosphere and views. johnt.
Scenic layout
Too many blind shots for my liking. The greens and fairways overall were in good condition with a few areas that need maintenance.
True Mountain Course
Overall course conditions were good. Course knowledge will help with placement. Greens very small but well maintained bent grass with limited traps. Elevation changes are extreme but fun. Played from the whites, fairly short course but will get your attention if you don't watch out. Answer, yes, I will come back and play it again.
A must play!
Wonderful experience! Everything was a plus! The building that houses the pro shop and the restaurant is very nice. The pro shop staff was so friendly that I'm ready to move here! The golf carts are top notch--GPS, club covers, divot fixer, ball washer and windshield--they are fully loaded. The course beautiful--many beautiful holes. Very hilly and challenging, but enjoyable!
Mdilly
Course was very well maintained and greens were the normal well manicured and fast. Great Test!
