Butternut Creek Golf Course
About
Mountain views can be found on all 18 holes at Butternut Creek Golf Course, located in north Georgia. Elevation changes, mounds and undulating greens are all part of the challenge on the Bill Watts-designed golf course. No two holes are alike and water comes into play on 13 holes. With four to six tee boxes on every hole, the golf course can play as short or as long as you like. Butternut Creek is owned and operated by the Union County Recreation Department.

Well worth it....
If you enjoy playing a well maintained mountain golf course that has spectacular views, more then adequate amenities and a staff that is both friendly and helpful, this is the place. Buddy (in the pro shop) was instrumental in making our first-time visit to Butternut Creek a great experience. It won't be our last!!
Good Time
Great place to play, the staff was fantastic course in great shape good time was had by all.
Fun Mountain Golf
The course is in fantastic shape, with the greens rolling especially true. The staff was extremely knowledgeable, and the view from the first tee is spectacular!
A pleasure to play
Nice course good condition changeling layout elevations. A pleasure to play great views. Only drawback no driving range maybe consider driving cages. Thanks will return
Great course and lots of fun!
Bring my first time playing in the mountains ..coming from Florida ..what a gem this course is ..great layout very challenging at times but fun as well...the scenery is breathtaking and the staff is very friendly and made us feel right at home ..do not pass up the chance to play this course if you are in the area!!
Good conditions, friendly staff
A lovely mountain course with challenges for all levels of golfers.
highly recommended
We spent a pleasant afternoon playing this course. The quality of the course was matched by the beautiful setting. The greens were especially well maintained. We would definitely make the drive to play this course again!
Review 6/26
Overall a fantastic course. Lots of hills and water to challenge the golfer. Hole #3 is currently being repaired so the cup is in the fairway, but Inwad told it is temporary.
Surprised
Visiting from Florida. Friendly staff and very nice facility for a county course.
Breathtaking views. Amazing elevation changes.bent greens nice fairways good.
Some blind shots, but overall will return.
Great course.
Best course I ever played on. The fact that you play up and down the hills is great. The greens are good and so are the fairways.
The course is well maintained
Scenic, Challenging, Fun.
Very good value!
You won't find many municipal courses with GPS system on carts.
This course is worth your time.
Picturesque View
When we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly staff. From the time we got there to the time we left the view was amazing This course doesn't offer a driving range so we putted on the practice greens awaiting our tee time. There had obviously been some rain a day or two before we arrived so the course was cart path only which wouldn't be bad if it were not a mountain course. I can understand certain holes being cart path only but many could have been 90° rule and saved a lot of time on the pace of play the (only reason I gave this a two star pace rating). Unless you are related somewhere down the line to a mountain goat you better be able to climb steep hills. When playing this course play what your carry distance is and don't account for roll out. Many of the greens are over a ridge so they are blind shots going up. Because of the rain they were not able to mow or roll the greens so putting was a real challenge. For the money it was alright and I did manage feel like a PGA pro hitting from the top of a ridge down into a valley with some super long drives for me. All in all had the circumstances been different( no rain, not behind 4 groups of ladies, greens, fairways, tee boxes mowed) I probably would have gave a better rating but this write up is based purely on the day I played.
Spring Golf
Usual spring conditions, aerated so putting tough. Normally difficult course, but fun.
GPS in the Cart
The in-cart GPS was really fun. It made playing the course for the first time much more enjoyable. Also having a sunny day in February didn't hurt. I'll be back.
This course was in excellent condition
Greens and fairways were excellent. Roughs were fair and playable. It was a little dusty though.
Butternut creek
This course is quote challenging with its up and down terrain but very enjoyable and mr. Andy Ladd and crew keep the fairways and greens in good shape. The scenery is beautiful especially in the fall.
First time user
I used Golfnow for first time. It worked great and got a round of golf at a good value. Butternut Creek was fun to play and staff very courteous . Weather was perfect. I definitely will do this again soon.
My first review
Just played Butternut Creek yesterday. We were blessed by perfect weather. When I walked into clubhouse (beautiful) I was greated by staff by my last name and welcomed to the facility.
The course was the most beautiful tract I have seen! And I come from Central Florida!
The hills were challenging and there were times we had walk up to the green to find the flagstick.
A wonderful time. Will be back.
