Butternut Creek Golf Course

About
Mountain views can be found on all 18 holes at Butternut Creek Golf Course, located in north Georgia. Elevation changes, mounds and undulating greens are all part of the challenge on the Bill Watts-designed golf course. No two holes are alike and water comes into play on 13 holes. With four to six tee boxes on every hole, the golf course can play as short or as long as you like. Butternut Creek is owned and operated by the Union County Recreation Department.

Great Mountain Golf
Wow! What a great layout with outstanding course maintenance. Every hole was uphill or downhill, and some were both. Excellent test of shot-making skills from uphill, downhill, and sidehilll lies. Rough could be difficult, and on many holes had to judge whether to lay up or try to carry streams. Great mountain views. Not for beginners.
Beautiful course
Love this course. Great location. Challenging and yet fun!
Beautiful and Fun!
Course is in fantastic condition. The elevation changes are really fun. The layout is not so challenging that you lose lots of golf balls, but is challenging enough to punish errant shots. It's not a very long course, so for long hitters, you may find yourself playing smart with less-than driver off many of the par 4s (except that ~290-yd Par 4 over the water!! You gotta go for that one!) There are a few blind tee shots which make it somewhat challenging for the first-time player (use a GPS app for overhead view and gauging distances). I thoroughly enjoyed playing at Butternut Creek and would most definitely recommend it to anyone!
Buttercup
Great hilly course at a good rate. Course is in good condition with the exception of a couple of greens with brown spots. They place the cup so this is not a factor. You can use almost every club in your bag if you are an average golfer. Staff is great and very friendly and helpful.
Mountain golf
What a beautiful course in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains. Played for the first time today, the 4th of
July, the north Georgia weather was perfect. Staff was very helpful and got us off 15 minutes early. Fairways and greens are in top condition, bunkers are awaiting new sand so they’re pretty rough. There’s enough water to keep your attention on multiple holes. The only negatives for the day, the grill was closed and they don’t have a driving range. Definitely will be back.
Nice
Great time, staff was great other players polite and let us play through to keep the pace.
Greens are in great shape !
Course was in excellent shape , pace of play could have been better.
Beautiful course
This is a beautiful course that really gives u a mountain feel. Lots of elevation changes but not tricked up. The conditioning of the course was excellent. It is very scenic. This is one of my favorite course and I highly recommend it.
Interesting course
The course was excellent. Great use of terrain. Good shape. Very creative designs of holes. Glad we out this course on our list of courses to play. Will definitely play it again when we get a chance. Only reason amenities got a four star was restaurant was closed for remodeling.
Love this place
Always a great place to play golf. I really appreciate the club house allowing us to tee off early to avoid the rain that was forecast.
