Lanier Golf Club in Cumming is a public championship course that is located just a half hour north of Atlanta. Opened in 1970, the course has undergone many renovations over the years that have increased the playability of the original layout. The golf course is player friendly enough to appeal to a wide range of skill levels but it still offers a challenge, which is why in its past it has been chosen as a Georgia Amateur qualifying and U.S. Open qualifying course. There are tall trees along the fairways that will require a bit of accuracy and a heavy smattering of strategically placed bunkers also present a challenge. The occasional water hazard also comes into play. In addition to the golf course, Lanier G.C. has a driving range and short-game practice area that is open to the public as well.

1st time back since new greens
and they are very good overall. Few bare spots but no big deal. Course is playing as good as always.

Nice fast round
I played the course after it had been raining all morning and the course was empty. The course was in fairly good condition and with there being no one about it was a really fast round.
I'd definitely go back and play again.

Greens are back!!
I hadn't played since the greens were gone in the spring, but happy to report that the greens are beautiful. I love this old track, it just seems so peaceful when I play it. It is a good challenge for any type of golfer, and the rates are very reasonable.
Nice open course!
Alot of sand bunkers but good! Field is kept up nicely and has an open design which makes play easier for a beginner golfer.
Decent Course, Long Day
This course is nice, and the value was good. My only problem is time spent. I've played there several times, with anywhere from a foursome to a twosome, and have yet to complete a round in less than 4 hours and 15 minutes. They line up foursome after foursome, and play is slow. Expect to wait at every tee box, and usually every shot after. Again, the course is nice and the staff is great. I prefer a faster pace of play, so I probably won't be going back.
Fun to play
Very good course for the money. I enjoy Lanier and will play it many more times. Course has a good layout and the greens are a challenge.
Looking Good again
Unfortunately I wasn't able to finish my round as I hurt my back but from the 9 holes I played everything looks great! The greens are definitely back and are rolling nicely. There were a couple of patchy spots but nothing that inhibits play at all. Got a great deal so was not that upset about having to cut my round short. Will definitely be back as soon as I can.
Greens are almost PGA.

Course is back!
Played on 10/5 for the first time in a couple of years just to see how the improvements have come along.
Overall I was very impressed. Course is in excellent shape. Fairways are nice and greens are perfect. Not a bad spot on them and they rolled fast and true. Number 12 (Par 5) is a bit of an odd hole. Would rather see them move the tee boxes up around the corner and make it a long par four to speed up play.
Staff - It's a public course so I don't expect to be treated like a private course member. Staff was cordial and did their jobs as expected.
I'm looking forward to playing it more. great course for a reasonable price.
Loved It!
Course was in very good shape. The greens were excellent. Interesting holes, with some scenic views. Everyone I met on the staff was very friendly - even when I misplaced my cart key. And you can't beat the value. I'll be a regular.

The greens were back in excellent shape. This is still a good course. Hope they can find away to keep it around for a long time.
Overall Great Course
Amazing value for what you get. Definitely a few challenging holes but nothing unbearable by any means. Staff was very friendly and allowed me to play even though it was raining. Definitely will play again. Great greens
The Bermuda greens have finally come in and they are great!
The course has really come along. The bunkers are well maintained and the greens have finally come in. Great track for the money!
Rolling hills are great.
Hooked up with a couple of local golfers. They really made the day enjoyable. The course was in very good condition. The staff were very accomodating. What a beautiful day. I would definitely recommend this course.
Challenging Rough - Great Greens
I play this course a few times a year. This was the first time since they reseeded the greens. The course is in amazing shape. The greens were immaculate. Because of the extensive rains this year, the rough was THICK! You definitely need to hit the fairways. This course is a great value - highly recommended.
