Tee boxes need work
Overall the facility has always been great. Shocked to see how bad some of the tee boxes are looking but it seems like they are in the process of addressing them. The fairways and greens were in excellent shape though. If you want a course that will test your shot shaping ability this is it with a few driveable par 4’s that if you take advantage of, can certainly be good scoring holes.
Love this course!
This course is one of the best that you can play in the area. Granted there are a few temporary tee boxes, but i love to see a course putting forth effort to improve. Greens are great. Layout is very fair. Range is nice and included with the tee time. Seriously considering membership here.
Snag any time it’s available!
Fantastic layout in spite of a few holes having tee box maintenance. Greens were pure pure pure, and super awesome design…we played very tucked pin locations and loved it. Pace of play was perfect for a Friday morning, right at 4 hrs. Only thing I didn’t love was where the driving range is…you have to essentially drive down hole #1s cart path and then take a quick left near the green. Other than that, would for sure play again!
Greens okay
Course needs some lots of money. Tee boxes are in bad shape
Nice greens, but they are out of money
For some reason, when I see a Private Course pop up on GN, I’m always so excited to try a member for the day. This poor course is very old (read: run down/tired, NOT “historic). I really liked their greens, rolled whatever pace apparently that I’m good at :), but the poor grass is flooded, under repair, the clubhouse is sparse and the overall course has maybe 6 players the whole day… yes, on a day where they threw their legs wide open for any golfnower to come back it up, there were still only a handful of folks out (yet they ran out of operational golf carts to use!). There was ZERO signage telling you with of the 5 parking areas was for golf or how to find the pro shop…. I hate trashing a place, certainly when it seems they just need a couple dozen members who aren’t cheap to pay in. Otherwise, this one reminded me of the old Bobby Jones course in Buckhead, BEFORE their remodel. No paper towels in the bathroom, dirty floors, flooded fairways, patchy grass, staff of introverts who never smiled, no cart person, barely what I’d call an intercity public course, NEVER would I use the word Private in any marketing material for this one. The scorecard must be from 28 years ago because NONE of the yardages matched the RBI’s signs or rocks on the ground. Par 4s that you bomb 285 off then still have 240 left in, but the scorecard says they’re a total 375? Sorry guys, there is work to be done. Closing positive comment, the back 9 was much nicer than the front. The starter guy was a total sweetheart.
Good value and not overly packed
Chapel Hills is for me one of the easier courses in the area. Holes provide enough space to position shots from tee. Teeboxes are the weak spot of the course and it is openly communicated two par 3s are teed from mats. Greens are nice and roll well. Range balls are included in the price. I would go to Chapel Hills again, especially if I am looking for a relaxing round of golf instead of a more challenging layout.
Looks like they are making the efforts to restore tee boxes, but they are in rough shape right now. Worse conditions now than the last time I played in February, but that is to be expected with 2 inches of rain and construction. Greens were in great shape, fairways and bunkers were in decent shape. Fun layout that doesn’t punish you with its tree-lining like many other courses in Georgia, but still has plenty of bunkers and green undulation to encourage proper shotmaking. 4.5 hour round on a Sunday with a group of 4 is about all you can ask for. Will be back for sure.
Fun round
The check in person was great. The green fee includes range balls and they have a very nice practice putting green. We started on time and the pace of play was good. The course is in great shape for late April. The fairways have greened up and the greens were in great shape. The only negative was a couple of the par 3’s had temporary tee boxes. We were made aware of that before playing. I would highly recommend this course.
Course need serious repair
The greens were in pretty good shape but the tee boxes were terrible, you had to hit off Matt's on 2 of the par 3s. 5.5 hour round not worth the price at all
Course is in great shape and greens are perfect
Greens are top notch and fast the slopes can be tricky
Great Course
Chaple Hills is still in good condition. I used to have a membership when it was Canangate. It early in the season so the Fairways need to grow in
The greens were fast. The pin placement tricky. Overall it was a great Easter. I had two of my regular golf buddies, and they also enjoyed the round. Thank You
THE GOOD & THE BAD
Upon arriving to the course I was not impressed at first to say the least. The bag-drop is non-existent and parking/getting to the clubhouse does not have the most direct approach. It has a lot of, "figure it out as you go" sort of feel... In regards to the course specifically, the greens are some of the best I have played on in GA but, the tee boxes in general need some work. On 8 & 13 there are designated areas with mats... seems more permanent than temporary. Overall pretty decent course.
Best course around
Chapel Hills in Douglasville is a premier golf course in the metro Atlanta area
Best greens, great layout a new owners are doing great
Our favorite course
Course was very challenging and fun!
Greens were rolling true and really fast. Fairways were well kept too. My main suggestion would be to fix tee boxes on almost all holes.
It's not a country club, it is a local regular club
I was excited to experience a country club quality of golf course. The staff did not know how to check me in with rental clubs. The rental clubs were dirty and old and charged me $80. that was a rip off.
The course was really in a bad shape. Tboxes were bare, dug in. Fairways were like a desert. Greens were decent.
Layout was good. I would not recommend this course to anyone who is expecting a good course to play.
First tome playing
After a good deal of rain this course was in good condition and the crews were out taking care of fairways which are now beginning to green up. Greens in good condition, great lay out and staff was wonderful. Range balls included in price which fro the Atlanta area is a real benefit. Nice practice area. I will play again. Beautiful area and safe place to play.
