Mystery Valley Golf Club
About
Mystery Valley Golf Club encompasses 230 acres of gently rolling land that ranges from dense forests of towering Georgia pines to grassy meadows covered in acres of colorful wildflowers. Mystery Valley is known for both the beautiful scenery on the course itself and the stunning views from the elevated tees. There are two lakes and a pond that dot the course, coming into play on three holes. At just over 6,700 yards, the layout features some long holes but it will also test your short game with strategically placed bunkers around the fast, medium-sized greens. There is an interesting variety of holes including several winding par 5s and the watery and treacherous 15th hole, which is considered one of Atlanta's most challenging par 4s. The more challenging elements of Mystery Valley Golf Club are balanced by the generous, player-friendly fairways.

Fun tough layout! Past reviews are a little harsh!
Grew up playing at the valley. Fun course! There's holes you can air it out on, doglegs and it gets narrow at times to. The past reviews had us questioning whether to look elsewhere or not. My group had a blast! Course is In a lot better shape then Aprils reviews led us to believe. Sure maybe a few bunkers could use some sand but your supposed to avoid those anyways.
This track has a "We are about to close" feel..
The good news .. The round only cost $17.
The bad news.. The course does not have a single bunker that has received any maintenance in over 6 months. There are weeds in most fairways. The greens are furry and there were more than one green that clearly needs to be re-seeded. And finally, the one employee on the property (the guy taking the money) was a complete Jerk who acts like he is doing us a favor by being there.
Needs some work
I used to think this course was the best value in the area, especially if you like a course that allows you to walk like I do. Mystery Valley is an old-style layout that is very walkable, with no housing on the course at all.
This year, the course is in the worst shape I've seen it in some time. The greens, which I was told were aerated over a month ago, are still bumpy and sandy. It bothers me that the course sends me marketing emails with the subject line "Amazing greens!" I agree the greens used to be in great shape here, especially for the price you paid. But that is not currently the case. The sand traps need some serious work and the tee boxes are showing signs of distress, too. I would consider playing elsewhere for the time being.
WORSE GOLF COURSE IN ATLANTA
THIS COURSE IS IN TERRIBLE SHAPE; THE GREENS WERE AWFUL AND THE FIARWAYS WERE IN NEED OF TRIMMING. PUTTING WAS LIKE PUTTING IN A COW PASTURE! I WILL NEVER PLAY THERE AGAIN. SUCKS!
Very disappointed
This used to be one of my favorite courses but it's not worth what they charge to play it right now. We had 16 guys play for our monthly outing and we all agreed that the overall conditions of MV were hugely disappointing. I've never seen MV in this bad of shape a month after aeration. The greens still have sand on them and there are some unexplainable patches of horrible fungus or something on many of them. For us to kick off our season with such poor conditions was a big letdown. I know my group won't come back, but it hurts me that I won't be going back to a place that I've played at least 10 times a year for the last several years.
Beautiful Layout
Played this course for the first time and was very pleasantly surprised. Mature, beautiful course with lots of big trees, rolling hills, and some water to contend with. A nice park setting that was enjoyable to be a part of. Rates were really reasonable. Fairways are generally fairly wide and tree lined. Some challenging doglegs that make you think. Some long driving holes to grip it and rip it. On the downside, bunkers had little sand. Greens were dry and hard to hold, had a coating of sand to cover bare spots, and putting rolled very slow. I hope this can be fixed. Pace of play was also slow, not unexpected for a perfect weather Saturday afternoon. Despite the downsides, I will definitely play here again because of the positives.
Pray for rain.
Aerated green are normal, but it seemed to be just done with no warning from Golfnow. Too much sand on the green; so much so that I had a six foot putt on the green and for a second I thought I had grounded my club(putter). I will go back in about a month or if they get a lot of rain. A lot of rain!
Course condition poooor
Bag of range balls $7 small and the condition of the range needs help. No distance signs. Golf cart died on hole #6. Wow. Bunker are unplayable. Need fresh sand. Its like playing off clay. I wish i had known the greens were aerated and too dressed. Some were unplayable. I give the course about a month and try again
Great day on the course
We knew in advance that the greens had been recently aerated - figured this would give us an excellent reason/excuse for poor putting! Honestly, the course itself was in great condition. Mystery Valley is one of our favorite courses and it's rare we are able to get a tee time on a Saturday, so this was a special treat. Beautiful day, if chilly, and a great reminder of why we love this course - challenging terrain and a lot of fun.
Horrible Greens
Course was aerated and no notice was given. Greens were horrible, full of sand where sometimes you could not see your ball on the greens. Sand bunkers were clay and full of water. Horrible experience. I will not be going back or recommending to any of my friends.
Need notification of Aerated green and sandy condition
I have booked Mystery Valley GC a couple times through GolfNow. I thought this golf course is a quite decent and reasonable until yesterday. All greens were aerated and covered with white sand. If i knew the condition beforehand, I would not have booked the course. It was not worth of fee I paid.
Poor greens
The greens had been aerated two days before. The real problem was that the green were so sanded that putting was almost impossible. Not worth the money, even for a shabby muni.
Pace of play worst ever
Pace of play unbearable, just earrated day before but no indication noted . Sprinklers comming on during play. Only played nine holes but payed for eighteen
Subperb Public Course
Bang for the buck, well kept course and subperb staff. I highly recommend.
Great Golf at Mystery Valley Golf Club
Mystery Valley Golf Club is one of the top public golf courses in the Metro-Atlanta area. This course appears to be very popular among golfers. Yet, the staff and maintenance crew manage to keep it in very good shape, even during the winter season. Commendable!
Incompetent Starter!
Course is OK and in great shape, but the Starter needs to be replaced. He insisted on keeping to the set starting times, even though 1st tee was wide open and I was half an hour early. Result was a congestion of 7 golfers waiting to tee off later. Starter had no ability to make a decision on the fly....
Looking good!
The fairways are in great condition for February. The greens are coming in well, we only noticed 2 greens with sand in spots and bare patches. The traps are unplayable but that didn't bother us.
