Monroe Golf & Country Club sprawls across gently rolling hills blanketed with mature hardwood forests. Opened in 1957, the course has a classic design that is playable for all skill levels but will still provide a challenge. The golf course is mostly flat but there are some subtly tricky elevation changes that can be found throughout. Pristine white sand bunkers contrast beautifully with the green of the course. Water hazards come into play on a few holes and towering trees line the fairways. The greens are fast and the rough can be punishing. It's a layout that demands accuracy but it's not overly difficult for the high handicapper. In addition to the golf course, Monroe also offers a large practice putting green and a driving range with a bunker.

Tee times during 6-man scramble

As I arrived at the course with out of town guests, we commented that the course appeared nice from the street but seemed very busy. Passing the 1st tee on the way to the club house, we noticed 6 players. We assumed that either the course was very busy or a few members assumed that 4 players max just didn’t apply to them. After entering the pro-shop we learned that a 6-man scramble was in process. The pro said that we would be delayed a while teeing off but recommended that we play the front nine twice since it would be a very slow day. He did offer to make up for it the next time we came back. Somehow, even after being told, it just didn’t register with him that out of state guests probably wouldn’t come back.
Needless to say, we left and enjoyed a great course a just few miles away.

This is what a course should be - fun to play.

The greens are fast, fast and fast. I really enjoyed the course as it is a shot makers course and penal for mishits which really gives you opportunity to hit all of the shots in your repertoire.
Well maintained and friendly staff plus playing with good friends made for a great round.

Old school layout with excellent greens.

Played here on a very cold saturday morning. Beautiful old school layout with excellent rolling greens. Enjoyed it so much that I played an additional 18 holes. I played 36 holes in 6 hours on a saturday. Well handicapped tee boxes and a wide variety of open and narrow fairways. Loved playing here and plan on playing here often.

No tricked-up golf course here....

Monroe CC is more of the 1960's style layout, with long, generous fairways and elevated greens with the right amount of bunkers, A challenge, but doesn't beat you senseless.

The staff is very accomodating and they keep this course in wonderful condition. It has quickly become one of my favorites.
Never overbooked or unduly crowded, a four hour round or less is routine.
I very much recommend it!

Great course. Some of the best greens in the area. Needs a marshall on the weekends to help keep the game moving.

This is one of the best courses in the area. The greens are close to PGA standards. Quick and true rolls. The course will challenge most amateurs and keep us humble. Good for walkers. The club house is well maintained. Food and beverage is good. I will recommend this course to any level of golfer.

Course was in great shape; Challenging, but nice

My son-in-law took me out for a game for my birthday, because since the summer had been so hot, I had not been able to play as much as I usually do,so it was a great day. The weather was a beautiful fall day, cool, and slightly breezing, but not enough to hurt the ball flight. The sun was out, and the course was not very busy, so pace of play was excellent. We played 18 holes in 3 hrs. Would have played another round but had a birthday party to attend later in the evening and had to shower and change and get there on time. I live in Dacula, Ga. It was a great day.
