Wide open during near freezing weather
Course was wide open on windy cold day. Staff was friendly and courteous.
Winter golf at its best
The pro shop is a bare minimum operation, this okay to me as I only come there to check in and golf. The personnel manning the desk are friendly, efficient and very accommodating. The course itself? Outstanding condition for being the middle of winter. The cart paths are in desperate need of repair but the fairways are in great condition and the greens are near perfect. There are no rangers so the pace of play is totally dependent on the speed of the golfers in front of you. This particular day was busy but the golfers on the course were universally considerate and cognizant of their pace.
Bob is ruining Southland
Booked 1250pm on 12-24-24 as a single. Confirmation #399945277. Afternoon tee sheet was wide open. Bob in the pro shop would not let me go out unless I paid an extra $15 cart fee because I booked as a single. What!?!? Not wanting to waste the afternoon, I reluctantly paid it. It felt like robbery. I observed Bob also being incredibly rude to the 3 teenagers in front of me at 1240pm as well as the 2 guys behind me at 100pm. And this is not the first time this has happened. The nice lady in the pro shop was obviously embarrassed by Bobs behavior. The outside guy was nice too and I gave him a good tip for being the closer on Christmas Eve. Good conditions for the middle of winter and decent value. But with Mystery Valley and Stone Mountain and Smoke Rise being nearby, I’ll probably go there to avoid Bob. Merry Christmas everyone.
Old guy in the shop has a stick up his butt
Starter wouldn’t let a single play on an empty course. Literally while he’s telling me how busy he is the first tee box is empty. I’m the only guy around. No one in the building no one on the range no one on the putting green. Used to be a great practice course but they hate singles now apparently
Great December Day for Golf
Had a good day on the course. First time there. Tee boxes needed some work and greens were pretty slow but might have been due to the time of year. Pace of play was a little slow but overall we had a good time. Would go back.
impeccable course conditions
For December golf this course can't be beaten. The greens are in outstanding shape and despite it being windy and all the leaves being dropped from the trees the maintenance staff does an outstanding job of keeping the course clear of them. The pace of play was great, although I did skip 1 hole as I saw a twosome looking for their balls in the woods in front of me on the 8th hole and hadn't seen them at all until then. I found it prudent to just bypass them rather than wait.as I hadn't seen them at all on the 1st 7 holes.
Mr. Duane
This course is in amazing condition for the time of the year.
Beautiful course.
Great course. I would love to see the cart paths fixed. They are horrendous to navigate.
Greens are exceptional.
These are the best greens I have seen in a long time. Add the water and Stone Mountain Views as well as the overall condition of the course, this is one of my favorite courses. A complaint is the lack of a working restroom at the turn. A great value and impressive course condition make up for the shortcomings.
Solid course
Solid course. Great layout, greens in perfect condition. fairways in good condition. tee boxes are average at best, but not a big deal. not much of a range but that's OK also.
played on Sunday at 12:30, never saw another group, great pace of play at a great golf course.
pro shop person very friendly.
Best greens in the area
Pace of play on a Saturday is expected. The course has some challenges for a beginner golfer like myself. I have played this course once before this past weekend and the greens were great then as well. Fairways look well kept as well. Keep in mind they do not sell alcohol. Thanks!
First time back since 2020…things aren’t going well
This course was a solid alternative for those that play Atlanta city courses that shut down during Covid. It has gone majorly downhill since then. And it makes sense now that there were so many tee times open when I played.
No water jugs on the course
Restrooms out of order
No sand in sand traps
Greens rolling about at a 5
Fairway and rough were freshly cut, but is about 90% weeds.
Tee boxes are rock hard, even plastic tees easily snap
And why there is no pedestrian bridge before the green on 8 is beyond me. It’s a dumb hole to start with, but for those that layup you basically have to drive to the green and walk back 125 yards. Or you can try to cross the creek, which I don’t recommend after I did and slipped on a wet rock and fell on my butt.
Fire ants
I usually like this course but this time I was addressing my ball in the first fairway and got eaten up by fireants. Very painful and I am still swolen up. Need to take those guys out.
