Schaumburg Golf Club - Players/Baer Course
About
The 27-hole course at Schaumburg Golf Club is divided into three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations that range from just over 6,000 yards to 6,700 yards. The Tournament, Baer, and Players Courses all provide a unique set of challenges but they share the same great conditions on their tees, greens, and fairways. Schaumburg has been host to numerous events since opening in 1928, including the U.S. Open Qualifying and Illinois Open Qualifying tournaments. It is a popular course since the club offers country club amenities and quality with the affordability of a public golf course. Schaumburg's Players/Baer combination starts out with a few tricky carries over water on the front nine and a more forgiving back nine. There are strategically placed bunkers throughout the course, however.

Yardage markers wrong
Course overall was in great condition except that the yardage markers were off or nonexistent. We walked the course never saw any yardage posts in any of the fairways. And oddly enough, the few yardage markers we found throughout the fairways were mostly wrong. For example, we were about 200 out from a hole and found a nearby marker that said 87. Then we walked roughly 100 down the fairway and found another marker that said 257 from this closer point. Not sure if the course was recently redesigned, but a bit annoying to not have any distance guidance throughout the round.
Refreshing to see a course making improvements
It’s been sad to see so many local course in decline in recent years. Not the case at Schaumburg where a renovation has taken place and and the course is blossoming.
Divots were filled, rough was lush., bunkers had ample sand and drainage. They don’t force you to take a cart like many places, so the turf isn’t as trampled from cart overuse which is so common at US courses where we are too lethargic to walk.
The holes aren’t especially memorable or overly challenging, but they are all pleasing to the eye. Most holes allow for multiple angles of approach and many ways to get up and down from collection areas and mounds around the greens.
Clubhouse, restaurant, putting green and range were bursting at the seams with customers.. Nice to see the place continues to thrive. (They need to get up to speed on new CDC guidance and get some rakes in the bunkers.....ridiculous to have such nice bunkers completely overrun with footprints).
I will be back.
Baer Course - Shaumburg Golf Club
The course was perfect. Great value for the money. I will be coming back frequently!
Great Course in the Suburbs
Schaumburg is a well run club. The conditions are good, and the prices are reasonable for the quality of the course. Best of all it's a 27 hole course, and they rotate 9 holes often. You can golf every couple of weeks here, and get a mix of holes each time.
Best of all it has some challenging holes, but everything is mostly fair. It works on your skills such as avoiding well placed bunkers and figuring out how to lay it up with the current tee placement, but no crazy slopes that make no sense like some other clubs nearby.
Nice course.
Very nice course. Greens were very nice. Staff was very nice despite Golfnow issue they were having. I appreciate that.
So nice
One of the best golf courses I’ve ever played, beautiful
Excellent spring venue
Played a day after much rain. The course has excellent drainage and you would have not know it had rained. Course is still in early spring condition but improving each week.
Excellent course!
Had a great time today! Greens were in great shape for early April!!!
Distances are marked on the path, not the fairway. Did you leave your phone at home?
