Charlotte Harbor National Golf Club
About
Charlotte Harbor National Golf Club (formerly known as Bobcat Trail Golf Club), also known simply as "the Cat," has been considered one of Sarasota County's best courses since it opened in 1998. Each hole on this lengthy par-71 layout offers a risk-reward opportunity. This thought-provoking course requires careful course management, proper club selection, and sharp short game skills. The large greens are fast and undulating and bunkers are strategically placed throughout. There are also several water hazards that come into play. Not only does each hole offer a unique challenge, they all offer beautiful scenery with a different eye-catching feature on each. Golfers will be sure to encounter some of the abundant wildlife that inhabits the golf course including foxes, gators, hawks and osprey. The club's staff claims that any of the 18 holes could be considered a signature hole.

Great layout
The course has a wonderful layout with rolling fairways. It felt very New England like. It was very playable and incredibly enjoyable. I can’t wait to go back and play again. It was well worth the one hour drive.
Bobcat Trail
Course is very good, sand traps are all awful, that is they don't have sand but a rough gravel mix, a few are OK but just a few. Layout and condition are very nice.
Fast greens - Poor bunkers
First time playing the course and didn't know what to expect. Course was in nice shape. The down side would be that the greens were like concrete and extremely fast and the bunkers were very deep with little sand mostly sandy gravel.
Bobcat Trails - Northport Florida
I've played this course before and have always liked it.
That was the reason for my playing on this trip to Florida.
The overall course conditions are good except the sand traps are full of rocks, and there must be some type of desease on the greens because they were terrible.
You can walk over to the 18th green and check it out which is something I will do the next time before I play.
Very Nice Course
I like this course. Sure there are moguls on the fairways and lots of water, but what you see is what you get, and most of the course is in very good condition. Also, unlike some course where there are five sets of tees, but they are all in a line 10 yards apart, these tees allow you to pick the set that matches your ability. There are only a couple of holes with surprise slopes or water incursions. The Yamaha golf cars are in good shape. The cart path is smooth and always available. Only negatives: some greens need work, and some don't have a nearby place to park.
green and bunkers awfull
By far the worst greens and bunkers I have every seen or played on. Very sad I have played this course many times and never felt like I had to write a review but , this time I had no choice. Will never play there again until it is fixed also will tell my friends to stay away.
Traps are in dire need for an overhaul total lack of sand
Course continues 14 year slide, actually accelerates it!!!
This course was rated 4.5 in Golf Digest in 1995 and was ranked in the top 75 courses.....they are still using this as their feather in the cap. In the mean time it has become a total cow pasture over the past 14 years I have played it. Do not believe any good reviews for the past few weeks. The greens are bare and splotchy with foreighn weeds and no colors other than brown. The rough is sparse.....the entire course is rock hard and the bunkers are rocky, like concrete, or both!!! For $5 more, you can play the annually Golf Digest rated Riverwood down the street and get a course worth $60 more than this one!!! What a joke and a pity for their membership!!!!
Great course for the money.
Interesting course. Some holes are fairly easy and some require a bit of skill. Lots of fun to play.
First time and last
Play was extremely slow, averaged 27 minutes per hole. Greens in need of work, many very light patches as well as patches of foreign grasses that appeared to be taking over. Wouldn't waste my time or money to go back again.
Challenging course
Great golf course, challenging for the 25 handicaps and the under 5.
Bobcat is interesting and fun
Every shot makes you think. Greens are large with good break, fast that day but very dry. (Florida drought)
Par 5s reachable, but big risks - rewards too.
No to bobcat trail
This was a below average course - price was good layout was friendly to all but nothing spectacular - sand traps made mostly of stones not sand - playing partner jammed his wrist trying to get out - after that sand was a free lift - we're on vacation not trying to get hurt - we kept trying to figure out what the four different colors of the greens - greens played like we were on a minature golf course up down up down will not go back!!!!
Need to Play Here Every Visit to Florida
It is challenging around the greens & the greens themselves. At times it is forgiving on the drives; much appreciated by this snow bird.
Great layout and greens
Great layout and great greens. Fairways in good shape. Greens had a few weed patches but are designed very well. Bunkers need more sand. Shell mix very hard in some. Overall great course. One of my favorites
poor condition.
Hard matted grass on fairways. No sand in bunkers only hard dirt and rocks. Burned out greens. Really sad condition.
Below average doesn't come close. This is a golf mill. They run as many players through as they can and take your money and run. The course is hardly a "premiere" facility. The course is poorly maintained the bunkers are worthless. They haven't any sand and could quite possibly damage your club. I do not recommend this course. It is as we say a "goat ranch"
