Charlotte Harbor National Golf Club
About
Charlotte Harbor National Golf Club (formerly known as Bobcat Trail Golf Club), also known simply as "the Cat," has been considered one of Sarasota County's best courses since it opened in 1998. Each hole on this lengthy par-71 layout offers a risk-reward opportunity. This thought-provoking course requires careful course management, proper club selection, and sharp short game skills. The large greens are fast and undulating and bunkers are strategically placed throughout. There are also several water hazards that come into play. Not only does each hole offer a unique challenge, they all offer beautiful scenery with a different eye-catching feature on each. Golfers will be sure to encounter some of the abundant wildlife that inhabits the golf course including foxes, gators, hawks and osprey. The club's staff claims that any of the 18 holes could be considered a signature hole.

Great value and layout
Love the layout which has a lot of visual challenges and shot decisions. The course conditions tend to be variable. The greens are usually good and the fairways decent. The rough is dry this time of year and the traps are inconsistent in their grooming. Some are fine but others have a lot of rocks. However, for the price, this is a great value. Also, you can usually get a tee time. Unless you will only play top conditioned courses, this is well worth giving a try.
Great course and the personnel were very accommodating. It was a warm day and the greens were extremely fast. There were a couple of tough holes. Number 13 was a challenging hole with lots of water and a great layout. Fourteen was a very long carry for a par three. We would go back again.
Dry and sandy greens
spike aeration and sanding of greens the day we played made for a very unenjoyable experience. Some greens were brushed, but others were not...tough to putt on sand covered greens. Not worth the money considering the greens condition.
Go Play
If my games on I can shoot 70's and my wife can play right along. Great starter keeps things moving. Greens are fast and fun. Good shape for having no rain so you know grounds crew is doing great job too.
This is a great course.
Value for this area--must play. This is a great layout with some great holes. You can score but if you make a mistake--you can post a big number as well. This is a course I play multiple times a year. I recommend you give it a try.
avoid the gravel traps
Friendly staff. Not overbooked. Nice condition of course. Greens not perfect and a bit fast, but decent. Did not care for the sand (gravel) traps, but that is an incentive to avoid them. Overall a very nice time.
Definitely plan to play here again...
The staff was friendly and helpful, the layout was challenging but not overly difficult for an intermediate player and the course was well maintained.
Beautiful course but needs some maintenance
What a beautiful track. Design is challenging but fair. Greens are quick but true. Do not go in the bunkers, they are terrible. There was some greens that need major work, grass was missing and rough in spots. All in all a great course but greenskeeping is not up to par.
Fire
Unfortunately we could only play eight holes as a fire had broken out on the course...
Fun course to play. It makes you think about ball placement,
Fast greens, challenges layout. A lot of big sand traps. Too many rocks in sand traps.
Bobcat Trail North Port Florida NOT WORTH IT
I played Bobcat Trail for the first time yesterday. I was shocked by the poor conditions. The sand traps were the worse I have ever seen in my 50 years of playing golf around the country. Not all, but many greens had weeds or a foreign grass growing in them. The course layout was friendly and the fairways were the typical hard pan style found in Florida. The front nine was played at a good pace of 2:05. The back nine was 3:07. We waited on every shot. In some cases 6 groups were on one hole. My first and last time playing Bobcat Trail. POOR POOR POOR.
Poor Value
The staff were more than friendly. However, the course was in bad shape. Most of the bunkers appeared to not have been raked in weeks. Some were west with standing water. The greens and the tee boxes were also in bad shape. Probable will not be play in there anytime soon.
Nice challenges with A couple of necessary fixes
Very fun round, with a little slow on the front but wide open on the back. Tee boxes could use a little TLC and I heard they are finally going to address the bunkers which are filled with rocks and shells making getting out a challenge.
Enjoyable experience
Booked this course on golfnow. Excellent layout. Sand traps were not as bad as stated but definitely could use more sand. Very nice layout. 5 hour round was a little long but 5 hours on a golf court in the sunshine state is always better than shovelling snow for an hour. Greens were a little bumpy but overall it was an enjoyable experience.
Nice course, more challenging than the slope rating indicates
Nice course, a couple of unusual holes made it an interesting challenge #13 especially. The sand in the traps was shallow and hard would be my only negative comment.
Beautiful Course. Great people and staff. Price was right. Only complaint is the people who go in for dinner and then come back out and take your spot on the 10th tee. Speed of play was excellent on the front 9. (1:45) Back 9 very slow. Waited on every tee and shot. Over 2 1/2 hours.
