Charlotte Harbor National Golf Club
About
Charlotte Harbor National Golf Club (formerly known as Bobcat Trail Golf Club), also known simply as "the Cat," has been considered one of Sarasota County's best courses since it opened in 1998. Each hole on this lengthy par-71 layout offers a risk-reward opportunity. This thought-provoking course requires careful course management, proper club selection, and sharp short game skills. The large greens are fast and undulating and bunkers are strategically placed throughout. There are also several water hazards that come into play. Not only does each hole offer a unique challenge, they all offer beautiful scenery with a different eye-catching feature on each. Golfers will be sure to encounter some of the abundant wildlife that inhabits the golf course including foxes, gators, hawks and osprey. The club's staff claims that any of the 18 holes could be considered a signature hole.

Fun to play
Great setup, pretty layout.
Challenging course in decent condition
Bobcat Trail is a challenging course with water featuring on most holes. As a 2 ball I normally expect a 3 hour round. At Bobcat. This course tends to be quieter than most courses in the area. Fees are normally decent value as well. Whilst a few greens are in poor condition the majority are good. I will play Bobcat again if prices remain reasonable over winter period.
No GPS
The course is generally in good shape. A couple of the greens were bumpy and need work. The Bobcat website says the carts have GPS. They don't as of 11/3/16. My partner wanted GPS, so I was embarrassed.
Good value
Sometimes you have to check with the course directly as it may be cheaper
Fine layout, bunker condition terrible
Very friendly staff, fine layout but the quality of the bunkers are terrible ...
Nothing New Here!
Use to be in much better shape, but unfortunately the greens and sand traps are in poor shape. Hopefully they'll get to work on it soon and correct it.
Great Value
Really enjoyed the course......bunkers need a little work so just stay out of them and you'll have a great time.
Conditions are slightly suspect
I was quite surprised by the condition of the course entering season. The greens are spotty and inconsistent with a lot of foreign grasses growing were it shouldn't be. The bunkers are so in need of new sand. I refused to hit from them they are so full of rocks and shell. There may have been sand in there years ago but not now. I found the yardages lacking. Other than the red white and blue cement circles in the fairway good luck finding a sprinkler yardage. I thought they used to have gps on the carts but no longer. It was an enjoyable time but probably a little pricey at $25 @4pm for the condition of the course.
Soggy venue
Appeared to be a great tract...played after torrential rains , course playable but no roll and cart path only. Great staff helped make the visit enjoyable...definitely will play again...
Great place to be again
Great layout, friendly staffs all over, green is almost perfect from renovation, fairway is good except a little too much weeds - but should be taken care of after this hurricane Hermine -- worth to mention, I played just 2 days after the hurrican Hermine hit, yet only few holes that is cart path only.
The only down side is the logo ball is out of stock or not available, it will miss my collection.
Wet
Course is very nice. Clubhouse Pro not so much. Only got through 7 holes and no rain check.
Bunker
Bunkers are well placed and abundant. Beautifully shaped, no sand!! Would move course to another level with some attention.
Fun course
This was a nice course. Good for the money. I got a "hot deal" from golf now. Super layed back. Not a lot of people playing...At 90 + and 90+ humidity not a lot of people I guess like that. ;) So I played a round in about 3 hrs. and I was taking a lot of pics.
Great course.
This course in very good condition for this time of year. However the bunkers are shell and little sand.
Stay out of the beach
Course was very good. Challenging layout. Green were true and fast.
BUNKERS were poor with rocks. Stay out of them. Would play again for the price and conditions....just avoid the bunkers
Much Improved
Haven't played Bobcat in a while because of course conditions. Played today and was very happy to see fairways and greens are perfect. Nice job bringing the course back.
Play Bobcat NOW! Best tees, fairways and greens I have played in a year!
I've been playing Bobcat for 15 years. I got married there. Through three owners, the course has gone through a lot of changes but right now, the course is in great shape.
Their bunkers are under construction and need sand so stay out of them but ...
the tees are perfect, the fairways are like a carpet and the greens are fast and true.
I like to play around at different courses but Bobcat is one of the closest to me so I go there often. You need to play Bobcat now. It's in fabulous shape!
What Happened?
I have played Bobcat Trail a number of times and was disappointed this past week on the condition of the course. Specifically, the areas that border the tee boxes and the bunkers have not been maintained. The defense of the course are the green side bunkers and on select holes the fairway bunkers. When they are rock hard and overgrown it takes away from what is normally a great day of golf.
Nice course
Nice course with a great layout. The sand is starting to look and play much better as well.
Bobcat
Course was in great shape.
