Charlotte Harbor National Golf Club (formerly known as Bobcat Trail Golf Club), also known simply as "the Cat," has been considered one of Sarasota County's best courses since it opened in 1998. Each hole on this lengthy par-71 layout offers a risk-reward opportunity. This thought-provoking course requires careful course management, proper club selection, and sharp short game skills. The large greens are fast and undulating and bunkers are strategically placed throughout. There are also several water hazards that come into play. Not only does each hole offer a unique challenge, they all offer beautiful scenery with a different eye-catching feature on each. Golfers will be sure to encounter some of the abundant wildlife that inhabits the golf course including foxes, gators, hawks and osprey. The club's staff claims that any of the 18 holes could be considered a signature hole.

this course has a good layout
most bunkers have loose stones and no sand
green fees should be much lower for this medium quality course.
This course had better days.
Slow play. Greens pretty unfair for a regular course. Tee box grass should be cut.
The course has a good design, but the bunkers and ponds are an eyesore and the clubhouse golf staff was plain rude
I would not return there as there was not one staff member who was friendly or welcoming. From the bag drop, to the lunch server, the bartender just were totally dismissive as we were tourists. Not one of those folks deserve the job they have.
Great value, especially on early season rates
This was the first time playing Bobcat Trail. The cart guy was was very welcoming. We were paired with a single golfer who plays the course on a regular basis. Good thing as there is the occasional blind hole or hazard. 5 tee boxes provide distances for all golfers. Played early December and the course was in great shape for early in the season after a very rainy summer. Greens were quick and consistent. In cart GPS was great. Will definitely play again.

One Nice Golf Course
This is one of the better golf courses in the area, and a great layout. Mostly nice wide fairways, and well maintained overall. Plenty of hazzards but placed in "fair" locations so your good shots are not in penalized. However, course could benefit by some nice white fluffy sand in the traps.
Disappointing...
I had not played at Bobcat in about two years. Last Time I was there the course was in terrific shape. I am not sure what has happened.
The greens were reasonably fast but there was goosegrass on every one, causing for a bumpy ride to the hole quite often. Bunkers were devoid of sand and loaded with rocks. Not pebbles, ROCKS!
It is a shame to see a course with such a nice layout be left unattended. I will not be back until I here some different reviews.
A very interesting and challenging golf course
A very interesting and challenging golf course. Lots of sand and water to keep you focused on hitting your target. The only issue I have with this course is the condition of their sand traps. They have lots of rocks in them. Also range balls are not included in your green fees.
A nice track!
A nice layout with challenging holes. Only real negative is the sad condition of the traps. With those fixed would get four stars. Many of them have large rocks, no just small stones. When our group plays we have certain ones you get a free drop out of so you do to damage your club. The best feature is the mix of layouts. Greens are fast and tricky. They don't break as much as it looks like they should. Avoid at all cost being above the hole. Good value and usually easy to get on.
Love this course, favorite in Port Charlotte area.
We love playing this course. It is very challenging and fun to play. We are not great golfers but manage our share of pars so by the end of the game you really feel you accomplished something. The course is in immaculate shape, this was our third or fouth time playing and never leave disappointed.
My favorite course in area
All the holes are individual and interesting.
Greens are in perfect shape. The only drawback is the sand quality in the bunkers but still they are mainly playable in normal way. Super friendly staff.

The sand traps are terrible!! How can such a good golf course have so little regards (maintenance) toward their sand traps.

This course is in very poor condition
I don't know what has happened but this course is in horrible condition. The fairways are burnt and the greens are in bad shape. I will not play there again.

Bunker Mania
This course has bunkers in play on every shot. There is no relief so know your yardages and avoid them. They are rugged and steep. A lot of the course is roped off from carts. Why, I don't know. Course was dry and in good condition. Greens were good and a little quick. It's worth a play. My main complaint was the pace of play was too slow. 4:40 is too long.

Nice course - needs attention
This is the second time I've played Bobcat (Played it first in 2011) and on both occasions I thought it was a good course (not sure it's quite 4*), but lacking some attention. Bunkers were in poor condition and greens were average. However, given the low green fee, it represented reasonable value for money. Played it on a cloudy Saturday lunchtime and had the course to ourselves. 2-Ball in 3hrs 15.
Wonderful layout
First time here and was very pleased. Staff was great and the course was in real great shape. The only thing was the sand in the traps it was gravel with lots of rocks. They need to get some real sand. Some slack given because of the real heavy rainy season this summer. Highly reccommend
