Charlotte Harbor National Golf Club (formerly known as Bobcat Trail Golf Club), also known simply as "the Cat," has been considered one of Sarasota County's best courses since it opened in 1998. Each hole on this lengthy par-71 layout offers a risk-reward opportunity. This thought-provoking course requires careful course management, proper club selection, and sharp short game skills. The large greens are fast and undulating and bunkers are strategically placed throughout. There are also several water hazards that come into play. Not only does each hole offer a unique challenge, they all offer beautiful scenery with a different eye-catching feature on each. Golfers will be sure to encounter some of the abundant wildlife that inhabits the golf course including foxes, gators, hawks and osprey. The club's staff claims that any of the 18 holes could be considered a signature hole.

Range balls were not included in the GolfNow price.
The pace of play was terrible! We only saw a marshal after the 1st hole informing us there was a backup on the 2nd hole. That backup continued for the remaining 16 holes! Isn't a marshal's job to monitor the pace of play and to urge players to pick up the pace of play?
The bunkers were in extremely poor shape. It was like hitting off hardpan.
The only positive part of the round was that it was $30
What a Layout
Love the course however this Fla. Put some real sand in the Bunkers. Ron the starter goes out of his way to get you out right on time. I will be back.
The course has greate value
No ranger visible meaning that other players suddenly were in fron of you and delaying our play for a couple holes.p

Fairways need a bit of attention but overall I enjoyed the game. Would not play without discounted rate

Not overly long but requires thoughtful club selection to score well.
Fabulous
Beautiful layout,undulating fairways and tiered greens,dry even in the traps but receptive for approach shots,and some very challenging tee shots for a draw player.Played gold tees and wasn't too long but still had mid irons to most greens.

Greens were fast an true, course was in great shape. Having the GPS in cart really speeds up pace of play.

Very disappointed as played several times before. NO indication of work had been done. .Better to call first before booking... real waste of time!!
The course can be very difficult or moderate depending on which tees you play from.
The course has a great layout and is well maintained. I was warned that aeration would begin the next day.

Staff was friendly, fairways were in good condition, and so were the greens. Very nice course!

the lay out was great dog legs to the right and left.
the only one down side was the poor state of the bunkers
Enjoyable track
Cool layout, that is in pretty nice shape. Challenging off the tee with some narrow landing areas, but nothing unreasonable. Many interesting holes, but the par 3's were unusally short with 1 under 95 yards and 2 more under 115. Had to think our way around the holes which is a welcome change from the regualr Florida set up of grip and rip. Staff was friendly and the 1st tee Marshall was on top of things keeping guys moving. Pace of play was SLOW as the old timers take forever. Very nicely maintained pro shop and restaurant. Food was very good and they have a nice 65" hd tv to watch at the bar. Overall, I had a great and enjoyable round and would recommend this course to everyone.
Overall an excellent course
Greens were just aerated, but rolled true. Some sand traps need sand otherwise it would be a 5 star course.
Only able to play 9 holes due to lighting.
Inquired about rain check due to lighting safety issue. Told only GolfNow could refund. I will not put my and others life in danger for a few bucks. I do not agree with this policy.
Where are the rangers/starters?
Dropped bag off at bag drop. Went into pro shop and paid for the round and a bag of range balls. Went to the starter area and my clubs are still in the bag stand. Wait about 8 minutes for the starter and decided to just grab my bag and walk back to the range area which is behind the pro shop. Hit balls and walked back to the starters area and still no one there. Wait another 5-6 minutes before someone pulls up in a cart and says they will go get the starter. After another 5 minutes or so the starter fianlly shows up and sends me off. Play the front in 1 1/2 hours as I was a single and groups let me play through. Made the turn and played the back in 3 hours. On 10 tee box I was behind a 2some with a 4some in the fairway and a 3some on the green. The holdup was a 2some that may have been a husband/wfe that never let anyone play through even though they had caused a backup of 10 players behind them that had to wait on every single shot on the back nine. Conditions were okay but I wouldn't make the drive again from Bradenton Beach to play Bobcat. You drive past too many other courses in better condition that pay attention to pace of play and provide better customer service.
This course is well layed out with great features
I thought that with so much FLorida sand around, some of the bunkers didn't have any sand, but more dirt than sand and they were hard packed being very difficult to play. Other bunkers were fine. Overall the course was in very good shape. The greens although very fast, were in excellent shape. I will play it again before heading back home to Canada.
The Bobcat does not disappoint...
Other than a few fairways that were plugged, the course in general was a great value for the money....I shall return.
